Real Betis has successfully concluded an international architecture competition to design the new Benito Villamarín Stadium, a crucial element of their Strategic Plan for 2022-26. After careful consideration, the board of administrators selected the collaborative proposal from Spanish architect Rafael de la-Hoz and the American studio Gensler. This winning design will not only contribute to the club's growth but also establish the Béticos' home as a prominent football venue on a national level, becoming an iconic symbol of Seville.
The upcoming complex promises to significantly increase the institution's revenue by introducing a new stadium concept that is open, modern, and conducive to year-round commercial activities. The innovative design will enhance the entertainment and hospitality offerings on match days, as well as during non-sporting events. The stadium will transform into a vibrant leisure and events center, featuring a 450-seat auditorium and becoming a notable tourist attraction within the city.
While embracing this conceptual change, the new Benito Villamarín Stadium will stay true to the essence and spirit of Real Betis and its passionate fans. The project includes improvements and expansions to the Museum and Tour, preserving a special place for the club's history. Additionally, the fan experience will be enhanced through increased services and comfort options.
The new Benito Villamarín Stadium will have capacity for 60,379 spectators. The current Preferential Stand (West Stand) will be demolished and rebuilt, with capacity for 15,754 seats (11,533 regular seats, 4,023 premium seats and 180 seats in the Presidential Box). The other three stands will not be demolished, but they will undergo substantial changes that will have an impact on the comfort and fan experience. The project also includes the installation of a roof over the four stands and a new façade that will radically change the current look with an architectural proposal that will surround the Stadium with the thirteen stripes of the badge.
