Somehow, even as a child, I understood how important it was. I had to ask my parents who John Brown was, and then of course, I had to read books about him from the school library. I asked my parents, "Are we bad people, because we are white ?". The first song I remember my parents singing to me was Jesus Loves The Little Children. "ALL the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight". I suppose those lyrics might be construed to be racist now. Again I ask, am I evil because I am white? I pray we never have to tread the path John Brown chose, but every day that passes seems to increase the possibility we may be thrust again into a sad, sad history. Allah, Jesus, Earth Mother, please save us all.
