Naw it doesn't. It's just that the bar has been lowered so much that two guys doing silly voices for a gag ends up sounding "just as good as anything else out there". If you travelled to any other time in history, to any other place on the planet and played this for people they would say "Yeah that's garbage". Or .. "it sounds like children messing around". But here we are in 2016 and people watch this and say "Actually that sounds pretty good".
I first heard this in June 2015 when I was 21yo and travelling the world with my best friends. It was constantly an inside joke on the trip and the years that followed. I dont know how but it has become this nostalgic song that fills my heart with melancholy yearning for a better time in my life that is now gone forever. Our group split up as friends over the years, and 1 even passed away, but we will always have the memories of our trip, when we laughed, cried, and learned to make an alt-j song.
Here I am, 6 years later. This song continues to get stuck in my head at least once a month. This is the content we need on TH-cam. This was when the internet was in its prime. Nothing will ever compare.
