At age 73, I am really into this topic. Raced mtbs in my thirties and forties. My father was American Bicycle League National Champion in 1939...doing both road and track disiplins back then.
I have really enjoyed your videos since stumbling across Syd fixed bikes a few weeks ago, trying to figure out how to change by bike tire. This one really takes the cake. I love that the whole family rides!

As being a geezer, I have found by the time you want to "race" against other geezers, the only ones left are truly elite. The rest are dead or on the couch. It's a no-win situation.

Excellent episode, what a joy to watch! Really a family event. It also is very inspiring for me. When I was 53 I 'rediscovered' cycling after practically not cycling for ~18 years. At that moment, I really felt bad at missing out on it for so many years and wondered if I could ever recover that 'wasted' time. That is now 3 years and over 19.000 kilometers ago and this video made me realise that if I manage to stay in the shape I am in now, there could be another 20 years in the barrel 😁. And to be honest, the shape I'm in now at age 56 is better than it was when I was 36 👍🏼

This is awesome , I raced the single speed class in ‘93 here, and just picked up a new Specialized Fuse yesterday…..I am 7 minutes from this race, I think I’m inspired and gonna race the short course this year after watching this now😊

Way to go Bob! When I was in my 30's I had a friend named Tim who all I could do was barely keep him in site on the trials. I was always really inspired by him. Now I'm in my 50's and, well Bob, guess who inspires me now?!
Its nice to see Syd back on the bike and getting it on! Also, good inspiration seeing the whole family just getting out there and racing. Regarding the USWE backpack, it was a nice detail to get him to race and not worry about one more thing. Sometimes it just shows that there is always a solution for everyone. I also have a USWE backpack, and while awesome, for me it feels like it constrains my breathing a bit too much, specially on the high HR zones. Once I hit the "eject" button on the backpack I feel insta relief. Still trying to work how to get it to work as the one I have has a back protector and bought it more for enduros.

Yep....just turned 70 and getting back into Mt Bikes since the early 00's. Raced in the late 80's and early 90's.....but I'm cheating a little bit in that my new bike will have a motor! My first e bike....So I will see how it goes....I love watching Sid and Macky as they are entertaining, clever and funny!
