I just want to express my gratitude to Syd and Macky for sharing the e-bike story! My bike dad who is 77 years old just got his Specialized Levo SL after I shared the video of Macky’s dad riding the e-bike with you two. He rides with us but age and limited stamina limits how long our rides are. We are very excited to ride this weekend with him and he is equally excited to ride longer trails. Thank you again for this awesome channel - You two are truly inspirational! 🙏🏽👍🏽👊🏽🚵🏻♂️🚵♀️
Quick update - Dad had his inaugural e-bike ride today. I can now fully relate with Macky. Dad put the hurt on us and had the most amazing smile on his face!! Legs are dead!!!🤘🏼😂
"Dad has no strategy" -> Everyone Dad: Proceeds to list all the stats, facts, and projected requirements Also Dad: "Don't matter how fast Macky cause all I gotta do is beat his best of 19 mph" HA! Edit: Finished watching it now. Macky got wrecked :D Good job dad! Was great to see the fam talk such game and you brought it home!
I loved this episode in the life of Syd & Macky! This is why your videos are far and away better than most of the youtubers doing mountain bike vids. You are inventive and people love the insight into your lives. Anyone can video a mountain bike on a trail (and many do) but yours are always uniquely creative which is refreshing during the era of covid. Keep it up.
Man this video rocks and I specifically like that your dad said now after a decade he can ride with his son.. So you know this has been something he's wanted to do for that long!!!
It's exactly THIS type of content that keeps me coming back! Way too much POV only from most TH-camrs but Syd and Macky bring the heart of what it means to be a cyclist especially in the era of COVID. The only "negative" thing I can think of is why they only have 55K subscribers? Get these two up and over 100K ASAP! I'm speaking to you BKXC and Paul the Punter.
Wow! Well done Bob. I'm 58 and have a Turbo Levo and don't think I could of kept up with you. Over here in the UK our motors cut out at around 16mph anyway but if I was on a US spec bike I would of struggled. Great effort by Macky as well. Regards, Mark
Wow this is so awesome! Its been like 10 years not riding with my dad. Now I am looking at those E bikes so We can ride together again. Love this kind of material you are doing! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 keep it up guys.
That was the most excited I've ever gotten over a road race, and such a heartwarming story. I'm 29 and my dad is 57. He's been an athlete all his life so his stamina is AMAZING. He still destroys me on every single climb. Anyway, I'm trying to get my little brother and sister (14 and 10) into MTB, and it's amazing to think that in 10, 15, 20 years, if dad's age starts hitting his stamina, we'll all still be able to ride together. This video has made me hopeful about this aspect of life in the long run. Thanks, guys. As always, much love your way.
I just got my first new Mt Bike in over 20 years as I visited the 2021 Sea Otter. I actually raced the Sea Otter 18 years ago and placed in the top 10 of the ol farts group. I was 52 then...now 70 I'm pointing towards the 2022 Sea Otter since they now have a eMTB class ....Mine is a Class Three which means it'll do 28 MPH...But I have already exceeded that...I can hit 30 MPF in mere seconds pedaling as well! So seeing Macky's Dad out there at 75 really gives me some motivation to be in the best shape I can get in by April of 22!
Great for what this ebike has done for your dad’ health and confidence. But also for Mackey’s bond with him. Finally, even if he’s getting beaten in the race, it’s just what Mackey needs to challenge himself and be able to grow during this lockdown.
What a great way to be able to ride together, that is definitely something new since E-bikes, what anew possibilities! Side note: being Dutch I love the orange helmet and bartape details!!
Knew exactly how this would go. Macky just doesn't have that killer instinct. Better strategy would have been to make sure dad's batteries are only charged at 30%. Even so, who needs pro racing? This was great :)
I really really REALLY love the videos of Macky riding with his dad! So nice atmosphere, and he is so relaxed! If Bob's part about not telling about his strategy is not scripted I have to admit its brilliant! :D
I love my Canyon Spectral ebike. After a couple of years of being inactive and getting fat I fell out of love with mountain biking as I was just puffing out all the time (I have a Santa Cruz Hightower as my 'normal' bike). I've had the ebike now for 7 months, its made me fall in love with mtb again and i've lost my excess weight.
Thanks so much for this video and inspiring people to get out there and get back on the bike. Such a wonderful example of how good these bikes are for that.
I almost was going to skip from 11 1/2 min to the end cause i was so excited lol. Macky I know you are a competitor and this deep down probably got ya.Dont sweat it. #1 you are riding with dad.WOW.Amazing.#2 going up against an Ebike is almost always going to be a no win situation.#3 Those hills!!! My average speed according to strava is only 12-13mph..lol..So you both would smoke me :D ..This was neat and a great way to train honestly. This would help you in competition I bet..
LOL E-Bikes rule & road bikes drool ;) I was thinking at least they could have given him some tires more suited for the paved surface, but I guess he did not need them haha! (edit) after going through the comments I gotta say I love the biking community here on You Tube, so refreshing to read all the positive comments. Between Syd& Macky, April & Kyle , Seth, Phil, ect.. There is a lot of very positive motivation going on, and with that said, time to go for an E-bike ride up a mountain! Cheers y'all!
This is a good video good idea to make it whit your dad I think that this is exactly why e bikes exist when a rider can't climb because age or health issues, when I hate the e bike is when i see young riders in e bikes and I see a lot where I ride.
I’ll be 50 in November and just got back into biking. I’m getting my 3 boys (13, 12 and 10) into biking at the same time. I never let them win in anything we did and I won’t start now. Hopefully they’re better than me at everything in life in the end
Mrwilson 610 Creating fair conditions that allow for level competition isn’t giving anything away. If children believe that they have no chance to win they will lose interest in both the competition and eventually the activity itself. I’m figuring you already know that. Hope so....
Profe Sam Sure, if you let them just quit. In my case it motivates them to get better/stronger by giving them an attainable goal. They see the results that their work gets them when our basketball games and foot races get closer. They’ll also see that it gets easier to make it up a hill on their bike the more they ride because I’ve taught them that nothing comes easy and to always work for things you want.
Race did not matter. Bob's comment at the end made all the difference. Now he can ride with you. You can't beat that!
Yep game changer these E-bikes, even lets fatties like me get off the couch and get out enjoying life!
I can not get over how great this is for all of you. All the extra memories are truly a gift !!!

I am loving the content with your Father, it is so cool to see he can still rip on a bike at 75

Possibly my favorite SYD and MACKY video. Your dad is rad. He needs a channel!
Awesome - yes - what can ever be more fun for the generations together having this time together
Awesome! Love the friendly competition and it is fantastic to see Bob ride with the "kids"!! 😁👍🚴 eMTB's add many more enjoyable years to trail riding!
Again thanks a lot to all involved in making of this very entertaining video. I feel all of you won in one way or another. Keep’ em coming.
That was the best video I have seen on TH-cam in forever. Very cool!!
Man I loved watching that!! It really gives me a new perspective on E-bikes! Thanks guys!:)
I recently started riding with my Dad again, its been great! Good job on your race trying to keep up, it looked pretty brutal
What a epic ride with the old man. E bikes are good to keep all people riding.

We had loads of fun watching this! Awesome job!
So cool, I used to ride with my Dad all the time too, time to get him an a-bike! 🚲
Fantastic video. This shows what ebikes are capable of doing and opening up possibilities for folks. Thanks for sharing
Good job both of you!
THAT WAS SUCH A GREAT VIDEO!!! yes, all CAPS I know. Awesome!!!
What a great video and family legacy, thanks for sharing!
This is yet another example of "Dad Power" Love It.
This was the best race since COVID started. Who needs UCI?
Gates should finance UCI instead OMS. Way more syringes there.
Love it! An e-bike has gotten my dad on a bike and father in law on the trails with us!
Great for what this ebike has done for your dad’ health and confidence. But also for Mackey’s bond with him. Finally, even if he’s getting beaten in the race, it’s just what Mackey needs to challenge himself and be able to grow during this lockdown.
haha awesome video guys, and love Bob's comment at the end,, just been able to ride with both of you its the best,,
Thank you Thank you for one of the BEST videos on YT !!!
Out freakin’ standing !!!!!!!!
“Turbo” would be an awesome nickname for Macky’s dad
turbo dad
We will henceforth refer to him as Bob "Turbo" Franklin
Great job to both on that climb. Great video. I think this might be my favorite video you guys have done.
This is hilarious and so much fun. Macky's dad is TH-cam gold. 😄♥️👍
That was fun to watch, super effort from Bob and Macky could've gone anyway from the start ,take care stay safe and have fun and 4 days left 🏔
Syd yelling he is scare of you lol 😂. Y'all are awesome glad he got an Ebike and macky gets a workout! 💯🤙🏽
What a fun video! That made my day. Thanks for sharing.
This is so cool, love seeing your Dad out riding and beating you... 😂

This is so well edited and so frickin cute. Great one!
Epic. Well done,Bob!

Actually I will subscribe to your patreon if you promise me that it brings a cold beer to Bob!
We can definitely make that happen! And no, it wasn't scripted. That's my dad, through and through.
I love my Canyon Spectral ebike. Like most Dads, when their children are little you give it (the win) to them, but when they're older/adults you GIVE it (smackdown) them....lol
That was great. Your Dad had it all figured out😂 💨
I'll have to buy one of those when I get older.
Congratulations to your dad smart man! I see where you get it from.
Thanks so much for this video and inspiring people to get out there and get back on the bike. Such a wonderful example of how good these bikes are for that.
Awesome race!! Niner ebike is so cool
Best use for E bikes elderly dads can ride with their Adult sons
E-MTB makes father and Son share the road again. Nice one.
One of the best videos you've made! love it :)

That was really fun classic Tortoise and Hare😁

I LOVE it!
I’ll be 50 in November and just got back into biking. I’m getting my 3 boys (13, 12 and 10) into biking at the same time.
I never let them win in anything we did and I won’t start now.
Hopefully they’re better than me at everything in life in the end

So freaking awesome
How does that saying go... Old age and treachery will always beat youth and enthusiasm... or something like that :)
I am not sure why Syd wasnt in a halter top and her daisy dukes dropping a hanky for the start? is this a family channel?
Yay Dad! I need an ebike!
Figured that would happen.
This was fun to watch! lolll
Syd should've raced too!
Wisdom wins out
Good job Dad! Kid is lucky, I'd brake check him hard if he drafted me.
Sorry Son, love dad...
So good!
Awesome !
Great vid, what a riot lol
