even though SAMSUNG heavily markets their "Nightography" for their S series phones , I will highly recommend using Pro Mode or Expert RAW App (its a samsung made pro app) for low light and even darker and darkest conditions . Yeah it might take a wee bit of tuning and testing at 1st to get to know how to change the ISO , shutter speed and EV but once you get used to it , it can take phenomenal low light snaps with very sharp and detailed images and properly exposed lightings and near to 0 noise .
@muhtasimfuadbadhon7743 they dint have expert raw but pro mode is pretty good for astrophotography. Not great but it's good if your thinking about it and don't want the extra cost of an expensive camera .

It's not like that. As fr as I know samsung chooses alternatively. You might get s24 fe with Snapdragon outside usa while usa may get Exynos. And then Snapdragon in usa again after that
Ended up buying this s23 fe for 100 bucks as a metro by tmobile port. so far had no issues and it definitely destroys the a54 when it comes to basically everything outside of battery life.
Very happy with my S23 FE purchase. The screen is bright and sharp, photos are excellent and the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chip performs flawlessly. No overheating or battery life issues unlike last year’s S22. The biggest complaint one could level at the phone is it’s a bloody heavy chonky brick. Seriously you can skip wrist curls at the gym if you use this phone one handed for any length of time. The form factor is almost identical to the A54 but it feels much heavier. Other than that no real complaints. Scored a deal for $399 U.S. (around 300 quid) last month so who can complain about that?
Yes, great value now due to poor demand as people skipped the initial pricing, which was evil. You got a bargain and I may even think of putting up with Exynos at that price!
I've had the s23 fe for 2 months now. here are my overall thoughts. 1. the phone tends to overheat while gaming especially graphic heavy games. if you lower the ram it helps but it still gets pretty warm. 2. the phone also gets warm at random times out of the blue even if your not gaming. it usually only lasts a few minutes though 2. this phone is excellent for emulation. silent hill 4, tekken 5, all ps2 resident evils and even even mortal kombat shaolin monks runs smoothly here. you'll have no issues running codm & genshin impact on max frames and graphics. I've had very little hick ups in genshin when played at max graphics, and 60 frames. 3. the camera is great. absolutely no complaints 4. the battery is alright. you could probably get 1.5-2 days worth of battery if you barely touched the phone at all but even light use on TH-cam drains the battery quite a bit and gaming will absolutely destroy the battery. overall if I think theirs better options available for the price tag. especially phones that have expandable memory. but if your a light phone user you'll be fine with this 7.7/10
S20+ here, for a few years. I'm waiting for the S24 Ultra - I want to see one in the flesh before committing. I'm intrigued by the AI options, so will compare to Google 8 Pro. Also like the look of the latest OnePlus devices - including their fold. Great to have a choice!
@@thebeautifulone5593 yes - ultimately I went direct to Samsung for the trade-in deals. So, my S20+ traded ikn for the S24U - pluys received a smart watch. Our S20 traded ikn for an S24+ - and that comes with a Galaxy Tab. the S24's should now be available in 2nd hand/reconditioned shops too.
It will certainly sell well despite the Exynos and the display edges as soon as it becomes cheaper. Some people find the normal S23 too small and/or too few colour variants. With the S24, I'm curious to see whether everything will really be so much better with the Exynos 2400?!
@@rumcajs009 Also it literally costs the same as S22+ in many places, when it's a worse version of it. S23 FE just doesn't make sense in any way, it would have to be far cheaper.
@Eihei not sure about that, I got one for £250 and sold the free buds for £40 and the Disney code for £70 so it worked out £140 for the phone, I don't think you can get the s23plus for that
@johna527 that's a sick deal mate, I'm tempted to pick one up from Samsung site since they have a discount code until the 20th of Feb. Where did you sell the code?
I am literally currently doing research and watching reviews of this phone, purely because Im thinking of upgrading to it, specifically over the S23 because of the larger screen, and performance that is enough for my needs in the price range. At least whats avalible in my country (no google Pixels) its the best deal for the performance Im getting by a signifcant margin. (S24 is 50% more expensive)
I've had the A54 for a few months now. It's awesome for a cheaper mid range. Only gripe I have is the Exynos 1380 in it. Not for speed or performance, but just because wifi disconnects a few times a day and cell signal seems weak at times compared to other phones I've had with Snapdragon. Either way wish Samsung would get the connection issues figured out on their Exynos chipsets
Touch wood I haven't had any connectivity issues with this one but it's certainly been an issue with Exynos in the past. Shame when Snapdragon nails it every time
I have the A54 for some months and have no connectivity problems, in fact it's working much MUCH better and more stable in this area than my previous S20 FE with SD865.
I wouldn't consider the a54 to be cheap by a long shot. I still remember when I got my A5 and A50 for around 270€, those days are long gone. The cheapest I've seen the A54 is around 390€, which is alright if the Nothingphone1 or the Pixel 7a didn't exist.
Does the chipset make a difference with the number of bars on the signal? With O2 and noticed the signal has been a bit lower in last year and half. Have Samsung A53 with Exynos chip. Thought was fault with the signal from transmitter, but would the chip affect this?
I don't know where you live, but in Germany O2 is a pile of shit. I'm less than a kilometre away from Frankfurt (central) and I get 3 from 4 bars sitting next to my window. And 5g is non existent at my place. Generally spoken the chip can have effect on this because that's the component handling all the data/information to make the signal into something the user can use. At the same time it could also be your antennas having a problem receiving the signal or the network card not working properly, if this were a phone issue. I wouldn't understand why Samsung would make your connection worse software wise tho.@@robinhosleftfoot
This phone has its pros and cons, just like any other phone. But there are many reasons to buy this phone its definitely not a deal breaker, Here in the UK S23 FE is £599 and samsung is giving £150 discount, on the facebook market place you can get this phone brand new for around £350 which also comes with 12 months free disney plus. Now when it comes to samsung S23 FE it has DEX, ONE UI which is not very complicated like other android phones it has nice loud stereo speakers, Amoled x2 with 120hz display nice design, flat screen no edges and most importantly 5 years of support so it keeps its value for years. It is highly recommended against any other android phone for this price range.
100% agree, even though I have a Samsung S24+ now I'm still tempted to grab an S23 FE as a work phone before the voucher expires on the Samsung website. That tangerine colour is so nice too. 😮
Thanks spurt, I've cancelled the FE order and spent a bit more on the 256gb regular. I don't mind exynos for my use case, and id also ordered orange in 256gb. It's more the bulk/weight and the rate exynos saps battery. The 23 ultra is just too much to carry round most the time. Edit i can't bring myself to sell the s23 ultra though!
I was using a Samsung charger too, and then switched to a lower watt Belkin charger to see if that helped. With the replacement, I didn't even charge it but it was overheating when gaming. That's great to hear it's working well for you because heating issue aside, I loved the phone, especially the screen.
Good review and the advice about waiting a few weeks for price drops of the regular S23 range, when the S24 range is released. I have the S20FE 5G which I got with a good discount back in 2020. That was the best phone I owned until I bought the S23 Ultra in June with a big cashback discount and free Samsung Buds Pro. The S23 FE needs to be at least £100 cheaper! Samsung UK are doing a discount of £100 using a code at the checkout, as I type this! It is using 'old' SoC. My S20FE had the SD865 which was superior to the Exynos of the regular S20/+/Ultra and Note series in the UK. The regular S23/+/Ultra is Snapdragon 8 gen 2. Then it has already lost 1 year of update, since it will have Android 14 out of the box! And if you are not into the Samsung Eco system, there are other options.
I feel that OneUI is actually better than stock now. Using a Pixel is like using an iPhone, actually not that customisable. I have my Samsung devices setup exactly the way I like them without fannying about with launchers etc. I would counter the "Samsung duplicates apps" and point to Huawei, who have spent years trying to catch up with the US throwing their toys out of the pram, whilst still allowing government owned Honor to have the play store. In Korea Samsung are huge, and their own services actually have a lot of users. Although unlikely, if for ANY reason the relationship between Samsung and Google sours, or the US and South Korea, they have decent quality apps/access to apps on day 1.
@avkay12 Pixel is as close to stock as you can now get, without using nasty custom ROMs or terrible handsets. Google have built their own "stock" android ecosystem.
While it may not be worth it in some countries as the s23 and s22 series drop prices, in my humble abode of myanmar, the prices not only did they not drop, they even rose by abit, making this s23 fe a better option when compared to the similarly priced a54 here, especially if you want that telephoto and wireless charging.
agree. same on my country. how we wish we also had that kind of pricing here but what we have has always been the opposite of what western countries get.
For any American viewers, our version of the S23 FE has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. I can’t believe it, but the American phone market took a W over Europe.
@@TechSpurt did you find you had touch issues when you applied a tempered glass screen protector? I had to use a film one I my touches weren't registering and there's no screen protector mode like on the pixels / Samsung
Yes, battery life is the deal-breaker for the Exynos 2200. Having had both the S22 and S22U, they both sucked, 3-4 hours SOT, and 5 -5.5 hours SOT, respectively and despite updates over the year, they never improved (did resets and tinkered with settings). The S23FE would be okay for a light user, but considering I can get 8-10 hours of SOT with the same usage on the S23U, it isn't nice on Exynos. I have heard that the S24 and S24+ will have Exynos in Europe so I cannot even recommend you wait for them. With sales of the S23 being below expectations, Samsung has warehouses full of unsold S23s and they are currently 44% off new on Amazon (reseller), at around £540, so that would be my choice over the S23FE.
@@nathansstuff1547 What are you talking about? The Snapdragon in the US S23 FE has the same one in the Samsung Galaxy 23 and the battery is live of the regular S23 is good
That's just one of the problems with Samsung. Snapdragon chips in the USA but their peasant Exynos chips elsewhere... Why Samsung, why?!? But Samsung charges the same price. 😠 Still no charger in the box or screen protector - no wonder you're losing customers. I will not buy any Samsung phones at full price using the Exynos chip set!! Let see if Uncle Chris was right about the S24 Ultra having the SG chip but the S24 & S24+ have the rubbish Exynos chip world wide except in the USA. 🤔
@@franklingoodwin He's talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was fabricated by Samsung. Both the Exynos 2200 and 8 Gen 1 suffer from poor thermals and efficiency thanks to Samsung's foundry. Once Qualcomm switched to TSMC for the 8+ Gen 1, there was a huge improvement (~30%) in both thermals and efficiency
Sick deal mate, great phone this. People have no clue what they're talking about, Exynos 2200 is actually on par with SD8 Gen 1. People just love being negative.
Good review as always, Chris! Funnily enough, I almost bought this phone had I not acquired a S23 Ultra back in October. Seems that I dodged a bullet since the phones sold in Indonesia came with the Exynos chip... 😅
I upgraded from an s20 fe due to a cracked screen with bits of it falling (2nd screen replacement). Argos has a deal with £100 cashback and Samsung fe buds, and I went for it. Having had hands on both phones, I prefer the snapdragon chipset on the s20 fe, but the s23 fe is the new phone, so it has better software support.
@max00_oo yes I have noticed that also. It drains quicker when watching media or power-hungry apps. I would suggest monitoring apps running in the background through the battery app and putting them to sleep if not using them.
S23 FE is actually S22 FE because all other FE phones like S20 FE AND S21 FE came with the same processor as their standard flagship ones, S20 has SD 865, so the S20 FE. S21 had the 2100 or SD 888 which the S21FE has but the S23 has 8 GEN 2 but the S23 FE has 8 GEN 1 or 2200 which the S22 got, so it's essentially the S22 FE.
I'm loving the s23 fe . Think yours might be a bit faulty I've had mine 3 weeks and average about 7 hours of screen on time phone is really snappy not had any heat issues but thrn again I don't do extensive games on my phone . Upgrading from an S20 FE this month and the moment you said 4-5 hours screen on time, I knew I couldn't go for this phone. Thats what my S20 FE is at after 2.5 years of degradation even limited to 60 hz and why I'm upgrading, and over time the S23 FE would only get worse. Cheers!

You can get money off, trade in and Galaxy Buds FE with this phone. That costs less than a Samsung Galaxy S23. I however will not be buying this phone because it has last years Exynos from the Galaxy S22 and averages battery life. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus instead

Wow, they never learn, do they? I also heard that the S24 in the EU will have their trash-tier Exynos chips again. Why would they do that after everyone was relieved that they switched to Qualcomm for everyone with the S23 Series? I don't really understand that.
Thanks Spurt. We have both the vanilla S23 and the S23 fe and I am real happy with the performance, so as the battery life, which is about 2 days under normal usage (no gaming) It also charges to full in about 1 hr. flat with the 25 watt charger, and I don't experience the heating issues. What I really like is the optical zoom lens and the low lite performance of this phone. What I don't like is the weight, its a heavy phone. My bro has the S23 and the images are quiet similar when we compare the two. My s23 fe has the SD-8 chip, but we are not in the US. Guess Canada also gets the SD.
the review is quite interesting here, S23 FE and S23 are at the same price, which one is a better choice? I want to upgrade from my S21 FE (Qualcomm) because of the poor battery life and the fact I bought 128GB of storage (it isn't enough for my day-to-day use) or should I wait a bit more for S24 series?
I'd definitely go S23 as it's more compact and has that lovely Snapdragon, but aye, wait a few weeks and it should drop in price or come with some sexay bundles
I will say the battery does seem to have gotten better with the One UI 6 update, mostly anecdotal but I easily get through the whole day even with my charging limited to 80%, so they did probably tweak the optimization a bit.
I recently needed to update my dying Galaxy S10+ (from 2019), and I quickly decided on this. The reason is that in my Country, Samsumg decided not to sell the S24+. So my options are the S24 Ultra, which is too big and expensive and has an S-Pen that I dont need. Or the regular S24, which is too small for me. Or this, which is exactly the right size, fast enough for me, well-made and half the price of an S24 (or less than a third of an Ultra!) I'm very happy with it.
Wouldn't mind knowing what the internal frame is made from. My last Xiaomi had so much flex the rear screen cracked just from squatting while in front pocket.

Hi, I had the P8P but gave it back after a week. It would heat up quite a bit when charging, and especially after just 5 mins of charging. I was offered a replacement but had the same issue so I returned them both. Now pre-ordered the S24U, but wondering whether I should buy the S23+ instead
Went for the P8P and not disappointed. No problem with overheating whilst charging.I wonder if it was your charger causing the overheating? I'm using the charger from my previous Samsung and select adaptive charging overnight. I'm finishing most days with 40-50% charge. Many thanks for the excellent review. I was seriously considering buying one of these, not going to happen now. 4. the battery is alright. you could probably get 1.5-2 days worth of battery if you barely touched the phone at all but even light use on TH-cam drains the battery quite a bit and gaming will absolutely destroy the battery.
overall if I think theirs better options available for the price tag. especially phones that have expandable memory. but if your a light phone user you'll be fine with this

S20+ here, for a few years. I'm waiting for the S24 Ultra - I want to see one in the flesh before committing. I'm intrigued by the AI options, so will compare to Google 8 Pro. Also like the look of the latest OnePlus devices - including their fold. Great to have a choice!
Hi, did you purchase the S24 ultra? I looking to buy a phone and I'm confused. Thanks
The problem is that this FE has got the same size as S23+ yet its 6.4 inch vs 6.6 inch. So they wasted loads of space with those thick bezels.
From one cr.ap you moving to another.Avoid cheap unquality Samsung phones.Didnt you noticed this ugly deep screen edges??
Should've just bought s24 instead
I was using a Samsung charger too, and then switched to a lower watt Belkin charger to see if that helped. With the replacement, I didn't even charge it but it was overheating when gaming. That's great to hear it's working well for you because heating issue aside, I loved the phone, especially the screen.
How's the battery backup?

I have a Nothing phone 2, and I honestly feel it's much better than the S23 FE for the same $600

Did you S22 and S22U have Exynos chips? The snapdragon versions had pretty good battery life.

Why Samsung, why?!?
But Samsung charges the same price. 😠
Still no charger in the box or screen protector - no wonder you're losing customers.
Coming off a S8 got myself a S23 FE, £100 cashback, buds and 12months Disney+, impressed with the build quality 😁😁

I upgraded from an s20 fe due to a cracked screen with bits of it falling (2nd screen replacement). Argos has a deal with £100 cashback and Samsung fe buds, and I went for it. Having had hands on both phones, I prefer the snapdragon chipset on the s20 fe, but the s23 fe is the new phone, so it has better software support.
same situation here, s20 fe and just bought an s23 fe, im concerned about the battery life on the 23
@max00_oo yes I have noticed that also.

Cheers!

Hi, is the camera quality different between the snapdragon and the exynos?
it doesnt affect mate
I will say the battery does seem to have gotten better with the One UI 6 update, mostly anecdotal but I easily get through the whole day even with my charging limited to 80%, so they did probably tweak the optimization a bit.
I recently needed to update my dying Galaxy S10+ (from 2019), and I quickly decided on this. The reason is that in my Country, Samsumg decided not to sell the S24+. So my options are the S24 Ultra, which is too big and expensive and has an S-Pen that I dont need. Or the regular S24, which is too small for me. Or this, which is exactly the right size, fast enough for me, well-made and half the price of an S24 (or less than a third of an Ultra!)
I'm very happy with it.
Feels weighty in the hand, but I quite like that, without a case feels premium with the glass back. I don't feel I've skimped on costs
It's a very premium feeling and looking device!
Wouldn't mind knowing what the internal frame is made from. My last Xiaomi had so much flex the rear screen cracked just from squatting while in front pocket.

That's hardly any better, look at all the phones that carried that chipsets nowadays, I've heard people saying their S22 Ultra barely gets 4 hours of SOT and has massive overheating.
@@superiortoall22 didn't say it was better (though it is) than the Samsung chip. Was just stating the fact that in US/North America you get the Snapdragon chip which Uncle Spurt didn't mention in the video.
@@wscott9779 Both made by Samsung fabs so neither are worth much compared to 2023 TSMC made chips.
@@superiortoall22 Samsung, reportedly, has ironed out the flaws that the first iteration of SD8Gen1. This version in the S23FE is a more polished and optimized version.
My wife just bought me a new samsjng after I've been using realme6 for probably 4 years now, all I can say straight off the bat from today....the keyboard socks and keeps censoring me , no option to turn that on or off, with the realme though there was no option to disable apps.... I'll like the samsung eventually I'm positive , it allowed me to uninstall most bloat easily. That being said... I bought a 5 grand samsung 4k TV and it has ads on the homes screen, ads in the menu bar, ads everywhere and you can't remove them
that sucks. 5 grand television and ads.. I have some no name 500e 4k 65" android tv and it has no ads
Samsung keyboard sucks... Use gboard instead. I find it much better
