  • Got the virtual reality pinball machine put together using Visual Pinball GL_64 and an HP G2 VR Headset.
Shows a quick rundown of the equipment used, and then a quick demo of my top 5 favourite virtual reality pinball tables.
This is how I installed VPX GL_64 on my windows 11 laptop:
In Windows Mixed Reality, make sure you have set the floor height and computer position set, or setup your vr boundary. Make sure all the standard vr setup stuff is done and working anyway.
Install Steam VR and make sure it shows the steam room in your headset.
Go to the github page for vpinball and download the latest Visual Pinball X version (10.8.0 beta 4 at time of writing this).
Do this by clicking ‘Assets’ then choose the correct zip for your system. If you have a 64 bit windows 10 or 11 then choose the one that looks something like this (for 32bit use x86 version)
    VPinballX_GL-10.8.0-1314-0f002da-Release-win-x64.zip
Scroll down the same releases page further and find the line that says Visual Pinball X 10.7.2
Keep scrolling down under the features and fixes lists and click on ‘Assets’ and click the download for
    Main.Download.Installer.-.VPX72setup.exe
Install the Main Download Installer.exe by double clicking it. Keep all the default settings on setup. Should install to C:/Visual Pinball/
Get the latest release zip you downloaded in step 3 and unzip it to the Virtual Pinball folder overwriting all the old files.
Go to the C:/Visual Pinball/VPinMame folder and double click the Setup64.exe (or setup.exe if 32bit) then click the Install box and follow prompts.
Copy the rom files (will be name.rom) to C:/Visual Pinball/VPinMame/Roms
Copy the vr table files (will be name.vpx) to C:/Visual Pinball/Tables
To play double click the C:/Visual Pinball/VPinballX_GL64.exe then select the table you want to play. It will think about it for a bit then load the table in your headset. It could be opposite to where you are facing - first try redoing the pc direction in WMR from step 1. If that doesn’t work try step 11
To get it closer, instead of selecting a table, click Cancel, then Preferences then VR Settings. Up in the top right under Button Assignments you can assign a key to center (Table Rec) the table and also to move it up and down. Also in this window are the settings for Table Orientation, X and Y position, etc - you can adjust these to get it closer. I haven’t figured out how to lock them in though - it seems to move when you restart so recommend to setup a Table Rec button.

Well done Sir. A tad late for me as Ive just bought all the buttons and a 4k monitor, Or is it too late. I already own a decent PC and an Oculus quest 2 so your video has caused me to take a left turn and just build the business end of a table like yours. Thanks for the heads up. Saved me a small fortune building a full sixe mock up that could only be played in my living room to a system that can be used easily with many computers. We have 5 Quest 2s (MY TRIBE OF KIDS) and 5 decent PCs so now Im doing an Oprah, you get a pinball table and you get a pinball table, everybody gets a pinball table. Thanks again.

Nice bit of kit. You sound a hell of a lot like the guy that did the voiceover for NZ's "NITFLUX" comedy skit a few year back (look it up on TH-cam if anyone hasn't seen it, classic skit). Greets from across the ditch, although perhaps you are already here like the rest of NZ. ;)

Can you share your PC specs? I'm contemplating this, but would like to know if I need to upgrade my GPU/CPU first. Also, is it that shaky with the headset on? It seems quite jarring. It would be nice to have eye tracking instead of head tracking.

You would need a high spec laptop for no lag. Probably GTX3060 video in it minimum, but some have it working with lesser spec machines.

I dont understand how did you handle that your pinball buttons trigger the real buttons for the VR

      @b4st137 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

the pinball-emulator-software is controlled bei keyboard-bindings. the vr-case sends keyboard-keys through pinscape-board to this software (usb-pc)

The image shakes too much. I don't think I could play it for more than 5 minutes.

That might be my head moving. It doesnt shake when you are playing. I have a better pc now with faster graphics. I should make another video as this was when I first finished it a while back now.
