What an awesome day! And what awesome company!
Me and my mates Wez and Jamie ( / @streetpigeonmtb ) met up at Pitlochry to try out Ben Cathro's " Walk The Talk" test track, that he and his mates had built over the lockdown.
Ben has been using this trail to train on in preparation for the UCI Downhill Worldcup, in which he is going to be competing after a very long hiatus.

Funny, Andrew -- I was going to post a comment to whatever was your newest vid, asking if you'd had a chance to check out Ben's trail. So glad you did. Ben's video was excellent, made me wish I was there to help build, watch those top boys haul arse down it, and maybe try it myself. Just tripled my envy of you Scots with great terrain & good times.

What's the best beginner bike? I've recently been really interested in this kind of stuff but my bike is very old and I'm wanting to upgrade and buy a decent bike but I'm looking for a good budget?

Funny to hear you say you bugged out of the day the pros were there. We went the Sunday of that weekend and it was awesome, the pros to amateur ratio was definitely greater than 1. My boys loved seeing them all and riding the very same trail. My elder son even pulled off the double log jump, landed it and made the turn. What a track!
I am actually quite an introvert and don’t like big crowds, especially crowds well I am the least skilled😂

It’s an intimidating jump, I wouldn’t have hit it if Ben wasn’t leading me in to be fair.

You can ride it, yes. It’s not marked on Trailforks, but the ones next to it are.
It is recommended that you park in town and cycle up, it’s above the golf course.

Past the golf course... hmmm. Any chance you guys could give us some more detailed directions? I’ll be staying near Pitlochry in two weeks, I have a fairly good idea where it may be, since it crosses a fire road a couple of times.. Is it the fire road that zigzags through the woods between the golf course and the A9?
Best to get Trailforks and head to the top of Totem, you will definitely see this one on the way up 👍

Yep, the trail is there for everyone. If you go to any of the other marked trails in Pitlochry, you will see this one.
I like that you waited till his video about the not a race was up to post yours. Crazy to think that 6 days after his not a race he was in the hospital with a broken neck (20/7/2020). Where does that put your rides with him in relation to all this?
I was just trying to ride off the success of the pinkbike video tbh. I didn’t learn about Cathro breaking his neck till a few weeks later.
@@McTrailRider hey I found your video on Trailforks. I had been looking for forever for his trail and finally found it today. I'm from Utah (about 3 hours from Moab), I had to start from scratch based on signs I saw in the background in the Privateer. Your video was key to confirming the trail. Plus a really awesome look at the trail from a "normal" rider and really fun to see that Cathro isn't just a big ol celebrity but a really chill guy in real life.

About 25 minutes or so
That last trail was awesome, it was like 5 of my local trails in 1. I'm lucky enough to live 10 minutes from where Steve peat cut his teeth, the trails are short but everything from xc to balls out near vertical rock shoots and 6m jumps. I do wish we had a long trail like that though

@@McTrailRider yeah the variety is what keeps me riding it every week, I've been riding it for around 4 years and I still find new trails. If you're in the Sheffield area I recommend you go check out wharncliffe
So how is it that you're not running a fullface but the camera moves around when your looking somewhere?
It’s actually a convertible helmet, so it’s a full face when I’m descending👍

Is the trail on trail forks?
The main trail (Ben’s) isn’t on Trailforks but the others are.

And that's more like a successive powers of two, 1 2 4 8 16... The relation between the numbers in the Fibonacci sequence is such that each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, 1 1 2 3 5 8...

Steep trails are the best trails!
Steep an techy is my usual favourite. This trail isn’t all that steep, but it’s so fast!
