    My girl is 17 years old now and truly the best companion in the world. ❤ Through the years we've played with tricks (she knew around 33 of them at 8 years old and to save on her joints we retired her from the tricks at 8), tracking, playing search and rescue, hiking, blueberry picking, low difficulty rock climbing, dog parkour, nosework, agility, and more. The mini schnauzer loves doing things with you so they're game to try just about any activity your heart desire. Such a great dog. ❤

    My partner and I are self employed so take our little Schnauzer everywhere we go and she loves it. She can be a little foodie though so to protect her we never give her human food like bread or biscuits even though she begs for it. She has one high quality dog meal per day and treats consist of raw cabbage, raw carrot or her favourite raw sprouts. The video is correct to say diet has to be strictly controlled. As a pet she is a true darling and a perfect companion so would recommend them whole heartedly.

      She sounds like a doll! I have worked from home since we got our mini Schnauzer, so we are very attached as well. We’ve learned to manage her diet carefully, and her favorite snacks are chopped raw carrots. She comes running any time she hears me cutting or peeling vegetables. 🥰 I will have to see if she likes cabbage and sprouts!

    This is obviously coming from someone that only knows about minis from the script and has never lived with them. They can chill for more than 8 hours, are rarely destructive(unless they find your childhood stuffed animal and tear it to shreds), sleep all night, and place their energy mainly to pleasing you. I guess if you never interact with your mini, they could be a pain to deal with, but if you don’t want to interact with a dog, why have one? As far as energy level, throwing a toy a few times a day, a good game of tug of war, and a walk for half a mile or so is more than enough for these little guys. And if you overdo it, you’ll be carrying them home because they’re pooped out and don’t want to walk any further. Believe me on this one… if they’re done walking you carry them because they will NOT move

    Having now my second Schnauzer in a row there was no new information for me here. The one thing that bothered me in a lot of the photos was the fact that very many of the Schnauzers had cropped tails. I personally find this very disgusting and would like to crop something off of the owners. Fortunately, this barbarious act is forbidden here in Germany, where I live.

    • @marzipanmango
      @marzipanmango 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankfully my dog wasn't cropped or docked by her breeders, but some breeders crop/dock before the buyer has any say in it. At the dog park other schnauzer owners have told me they wish theirs hadn't been cropped/docked, so don't judge the owners too harshly. Instead judge the breeders and the show rings for their stupid rules.

I’m here to tell you that it’s not a bad idea my nephew has a Cane Corso mix that use to wack his tail on everything and it would bleed everywhere on the walls on the ceiling this was a weekly thing for years the money he spent on vet bills and cleaning supplies. Till they Docked his tail now the problem is solved and the dog has never been better. Let me guess all the guys that made a comment on docked tails & cropped ears are not circumcised or don’t have dentures or dislike breast implants cause that’s cruel also Lol

      Depends on how you groom them. Do you hand strip or clip them?

  • @lottenliden2862
    @lottenliden2862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Mini schnauzers shouldn't be clipped. They should be raked from undercoat wool at least once a week and stripped by hand (the outer coat) every three months. If clipped, their fur change quality; become soft , curly and less able to with stand rain and snow. It also change colour when clipped; the black schnauzer becomes greyish brown and start to lack lustre.

      Sounds like your schnauzer ruled your house. You need to establish that you are the boss. Did you socialize him around people and kids when he was a pup? My schnauzer loves kids and people in general. He doesn't care for people's approaching me or the house uninvited but i love it my alarm system, but once your inside your good. One of his nicknames is Kujo because he will bite a mf if I tell him too. The best lover and protector you can welcome into your home.

      @@alyssap3601 Yes and no. Schnauzers are notoriously stubborn and tough; they had to be to perform the work they were bred to do (i.e., kill vermin). A certain amount of this has to do with genes, especially with a purebred.

    i have a miniature schnauzer, he is 9 months old and 8.5 kgs. slightly bigger than a mini poodle. he is a really calm and intelligent dog. however, he is overprotective and barks to strangers. when he was 6 months old, he started to bark at running strangers. other than that, he is the friendliest dog you could ever meet. my friends love him. he does not bite. when he was little, he was a really active dog. he grew up to match our energy. we take him out every day for at least an hour. he is sometimes scared of bigger dogs but he really gets on well with others. even though he is in his adolescence times now, he never irritated my friends or people. we got him neutered on Tuesday and he got on really well with it. when we say no to him, he stops. he knows how to sit, wait, to give his paws, to lie down, to pee on his own place, to not bite, to not bark when we tell him, to fetch, to put down and to go to his crate when we command him.
    THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: if you are planning to get a mini schnauzer, see if you have "hand stripping" groomers near you. it is really really important for your dog to get hand stripped in order to maintain a healthy and a comfortable coat. wire coated dogs need this procedure to be done. it doesn't hurt them if it is done right with the best groomer. schnauzers have double coats and their fallen hairs get stuck to the undercoat. the hand stripping method pulls all the stuck hairs out. you only get it done twice a year. your schnauzer will probably have less hair after hand stripping, be a bit bald but the coat turns into the best and healthiest after a week or two, it grows back. if your schnauzers live in an open area with a forest, you may not need this procedure to be done often because normally, schnauzers do hand stripping by themselves by scratching their backs to trees. if you live in a normal house with a small yard like us, you need your dog to get hand stripped. our dog is hypoallergenic, doesn't smell and is the most intelligent dog breed my friends know. some loved ours so got a schnauzer for their own. we love you Kylo Ren
