Thanks for your shared knowledge! You trick to keep my dog busy as definively help reduce to almost 0 bad behaviors (Biting, destroying clothes, excessive barking, separation anxiety)
Thank you so much for this video. I just got my little boy and he is so wonderful and loving. He’s 3 months and I’m already noticing how smart and stubborn he is 😅
Love the info. My Bella made it with me until she was attracted. At the age of 14. She never barked only when altering you. And she loved to be around other dog.
I normally take them out every 3-4 hours, followed by “let’s go out” or “let’s go pee”. They usually pee after every drink of water and meal as well. Accidents are natural, but as they get older they will learn to hold their bladder. Schnauzers are very intelligent and will soon alert you that they have to pee.
I’m currently not working and I think now would be a great time to get my mini schnauzer since I’ll have time to train them and be around them before I start my next role. I figured since I have a pretty good savings I could pull the trigger. Were expenses crazy for your dog? Right now I have anywhere from $1k-$2k budgeted for everything. How expensive is pet insurance for you?
I do not have pet insurance as schnauzers are fairly healthy. I keep a savings account for Cole if I do need to pay for anything. And yes that budget seems about right. I got Cole from a reputable breeder for $900.
@@DreKM243 I would always recommend pet insurance. It’s not that expensive and if something goes wrong you’ll be compensated a great amount of the vet bill depending on what options you put, just like other insurances. I pay $19/month for my cats and that’s for i believe $100K coverage a year and i get 99% compensation.
Hi! I'm getting my first Schnauzer in a few weeks. Apart from being worried with grooming (I'm still trying to discover how I'm going to groom her myself and do the hand stripping too - Where I live I don't find profissional groomers so easily, just amateurs. When I had a poodle they would often hurt her. And then I decided to groom her myself. It was very difficult and I was not good at it at all. So I am wondering how I'm going to do that with a Schnauzer 😅). But, apart from that I'm also worried she (my Schnauzer puppy) will chew on furniture like my dogs did when they were puppies. I just got new furniture and I don't want her to chew on it 😅 🤣 my other dogs are two Rottweilers. One of them is a 10 years old male. And my other one is a 3 years old female. My male dog is very calm and well behaved. But my female is crazy 🤣 she has that ✨ chaotic energy ✨ and she's very dominant. So I'm worried she might hurt my new schnauzer puppy. I intend to let them apart for most of the time but I would like to put them together to socialize for short periods of time. Then I have some questions: How often do I have to groom/do the hand stripping on a Schnauzer? Is it very difficult to do it by myself? How would be the best way to help my dogs accept my schnauzer puppy? She will be a female. And when I introduced my female Rottweiler to my male Rottweiler, I waited a few months until she was bigger and I would always put them slowly closer, first with a leash and some distance until I let them without the leash and together. The problem is a mini schnauzer is way smaller and I'm afraid she might get hurt. If anyone has any tips on Schnauzers in general I'd be very happy to hear it. That will be my first time and I hope it won't be so difficult as I'm imagining 🙏
I have a friend with a schnauzer in an apartment. His dog is older though. Remember that schnauzers are quite vocal, so if you don’t get a handle on their barking. It could be an issue with your neighbors. But I think it would be perfectly fine.
You can train them to settle down, so they are they aren’t barking incessantly. But dogs, in general, bark. So I’m not sure if you can train a dog to not bark at all.
My dog only barks when he hears something outside. But I've trained him to not bark on walks. He still struggles with areas with high stimulation though. Like a Park with a bunch of people and dogs. @@Takamine65
Where are you located? I found my breeder by searching "miniature schnauzers in Louisiana" . Usually, the older the website looks, the better the breeder lol.
Potty training is quite easy. Schnauzers are very smart. For a puppy, remember that their bladders are tiny. So every 2-3 hours you should bring them out. I usually say "let's go out" or "lets go potty". After they eat or drink water, take them out. Dogs usually don't pee where they sleep. but if this is the case, make sure they pee before bed. 9 weeks is pretty young, so it will take time for them to learn to hold their bladder and not just pee whenever.
I got my schnauzer from a breeder in Mississippi called Diamond H Kennel Club. But if you search on Google for Schnauzer breeders near you, you should find a few websites. I suggest a breeder who has experience, raises the puppies in-home with the family, and doesn't over breed their dogs.
@@Housewarmin Thank you 🙏❤️. My mini schnauzer passed 4 years ago and I miss him sooo much. He's my profile pic. Rip Max. He was a rescue. He had every type of anxiety possible. He screamed instead of barking but he was such a sweetheart ❤️. We did a lot of training to help him deal with his troubles.
@Housewarmin This person contacted me about adopting a puppy but he had no Facebook page, no website and we were supposed to have a video call so I could see the puppies and last minute he canceled.
@@taliashillingford1476 Oh yes, that sounds like a scam. Here in the US, people have websites with the puppies listed. Typically they will post prices upfront. I personally like when the puppies are raised by a family, not outside in a cage. Please don't buy a dog from a puppy mill. If you are looking for a reputable breeder near you try asking for recommendations.
I know people who have schnauzers in apartments, but remember they are very vocal so they can bark and upset neighbors. But all dogs are going to bark at some point.
Hello! I just received a 2 yr old autistic midget schnauzer that my sister in law passed on to me, because I fell in love with her. She is very sweet but a handful. I don't know anything about schnauzer except for what I just learned from you, and I truly appreciate you! Would you have any other advice for me? I'm already in love with her so I will do whatever it takes to help her and make her happy. She poops A LOT ALL DAY even if she eats a little! What should I do? It's 2 years old consider still a puppy?

your schnauzer videos are very informative and helpful, How much would you recommend for exercise per day?
Thank you. I get my little girl tomorrow!

Choose the schnauzer! Doodles are hard to train, and can have behavioral issues

How much and many times do you feed your puppy a day?
Also, do you do crate training?
I feed him once, and yes.
Is it possible to discern whether an 8 week old puppy is a barker or not? (excellent content 👍)
8 weeks is quite young. We didn’t bring Cole home until he was 12 weeks. Schnauzer bark more often, but shouldn’t be yappy.
Not my Mini Schnauzer lying on my chest saying “who are talking about and to????”

Im on the fence between a MS and a Wired Hair Fox Terrier. Any insights?

If you want your dogs to live longer, stop giving them vaccines and big pharma drugs like heart worm drugs.
Csn you learn to do the grooming work yourself to save on costs
I groom my dog at home. It's not perfect but it saves money. I also bathe, nail trim, teeth clean, and clean his ears

You should probably take her to the vet. Changing homes can be stressful and that upsets their stomachs
