  • In part 3 of 3, I am stretching the canvas print of "Crossing The Channel With Angels". The print is 32 inches square with 25mm borders to cover the edge of the stretcher bar.
The channel in question is The Bristol Channel, living in Exmoor National Park and Porlock we look out onto the channel and over to Wales. We are very blessed to live in such a beautiful part of England. The rugged countryside meets the sea with the highest sea cliffs in England. This is a major source of inspiration for both Melody as an artist and David as a photographer.
Using a Canon printer to produce our own Giclée prints has given us great flexibility. We have been able to keep control of our work and to print either on canvas or fine art paper, selling these from our studio and gallery in Porlock.
I have used Lion Pictures 25mm deep stretcher bars and braces, braces are recommended on lengths over 30 inches. I hope you enjoy and if you are new to this I hope you find it helpful.

Any specific reason why you don't use wood glue anywhere on the frames?

With a stretched canvas it is possible it will stretch or sag with time or different environmental conditions. Canvas stretchers come with wedges to open up the corners and re tension the canvas. So, I wouldn't glue or staple the corners as it would defeat the object of the wedges. Hope this helps, David
