- Modifying a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190E into an Evo 2 for under $20,000. The question is can I do it before June 7th when I set off for Wek Fest Seattle and DRIVEN Car Show Vancouver.
In this video we are doing bodywork in prep for Driven Calgary.

This is the definition of building a car for a client and the client constantly interupting your work and randomly showing up lol. Nice build Jason.
You installed the rear shocks wrong. One bushing is supposed to be under the mounting point and the other over in the trunk. That's why it was hard to get the nut on there
Thank you we just fixed it
@@magnacars 👍 no worries, I have a w124 and I did the same mistake at first
Jason is a legend. I'd definitely trust him work on my car.
Well if you’re unskilled, peeling the tape off is definitely a good start. That’s how you learn and get the skills.
If you’re going to drive old shit boxes like this you will have to learn. Your argument that if you built it yourself it would take sooo long is a bit off. You have the professionals around you, ask them if there is simple stuff you can do and learn.
Spot on advice.
This. You learn by doing. Just do anything. Pick up a sanding block and get moving.
Replacing the rear springs can be done in like 10 minutes per side 😂 jack up right under the spring so it's compressed, remove the bolts holding in the arm and let the jack decompress the spring. And do the opposite to install the new one. The rear springs don't really have much pressure on them.
You've got both of your rear shock top bushings under the body mount, you should have one below and one on top. It's either gone to knock and bang like shit or the shockers will drop out
We fixed it thank you
if you put a hydraulic ack underneath the rear arm you can just remove the bolt that goes into the lower arm at the subframe and let the arm swing down, the spring will come out easy enough
Just did this a few weeks back, works great. No need for a spring compressor and less risk of injury. Coil springs aren’t a joke!
@@TheLittleBeaker yeah even with the mercedes specific spring compressor ive had them explode on me once before. Better just remove the arms
This would have been good to know a few weeks ago lol
Unfortunately the lack of maintenance bit you... hopefully you can repair everything needed before roadtrip.
Pro tip: road tripping long distances on untested old car, I would advise you to bring some spares and basic toolkit in the trunk, you never know what might happen
Bring a spare car 😂
He wouldn't be able to fix anything himself anyways though
The only one that knows what’s he doing is the body guy !
You really shouldn’t mess with cars suspension until you fully understand what you’re doing
You are doing great man. Thanks for making these for us! ❤
Do a shot every time he does the "a few moments later" slide
It's really starting to take shape! Just gotta get that diff replaced (or welded) now 😂
you r living my dream apriciate the work man
No matter what you did.... As long as we can see the process of converting a normal 190e into an Evo.... I think it's a WIN for everyone...... Those whiners can shove it up the rear end😂😂😂😂😂 happy to see the car coming into fruition..... Keep up the good teamwork..... This is inspirational..... Thank you
100%
Ethan is hilarious, I love his humor! 😂
Absolutely love this project💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
"we" = Jason
Thank you for choosing
The correct wheels 👍
and in white wow
Nice work , Greetings to you from Morocco ❤🎉
oh mate, thats a lot for what you got... some of mistakes i made myself like rusty car but im around 14k$ with mine 190 but im making engine swap for m111 2.3 with turbo. i stripped mine to bare metal and painted. keep it up !
Jason gona have a PAY day
What happened ??????
Let’s guess , the rear shock give out possibly 🤔
13:25 🤦♂
good luck bro
That noise at the rear end is probably coming from lug bolts that are too long and are interfering with the e-brake assembly. It's definitely worth converting to studs.
Jason is W
5 mins is crazy
I've got Sportline front seats!!
When you swap wheels you may need to shorten the rear bolts, if not you can destroy the handbrake spring
👀
🙌
That sound in the end of the video, from the back wheel sounds just like something I have tried more than once with these old Mercs.
Specially when fitting other size wheels...
Too long wheel bolts sticks too far in and hit the handbrake-drum-assembly. If too bad, you need new springs and pads.
If Im right theres an easy fix. Just remove the pads and springs for this one ride, and then dont touch the handbrake, while its missing.
Dude your rear shocks are in wrong, it should be bottom to top - shock, cup washer, rubber bush, car ( not sure, but looks like you have two rubber bushes between shock and car in the wheel tub)
Wheel offset to high? Maybe needing some wheel spacers.
Nice build 😊👍🏻 The fake central bolts on the rims looks ridiculously small though. What engine and gearbox is going in? I hope you are not keeping that stock engine? It would be like so cringe 😊
LFG!
please fix that right rear brake hose its twisted all the way around
10:30 it was at 9:16 in your video titled "I Bought A Mercedes 190E To Build An Evo II Replica" posted 3 months ago where you say you're going to learn how to do all this stuff along the way. You've disabled links in your comments so I can't post it, but it's there :)
At least you could have done the shocks and springs without another guy doing it for you
When will you guys hit Vancouver??
14th
You might want to stop by TrickFactory Customs in Coquitlam. They've got a few 190E projects on the go.
Your wheels offset is broken 😂
Whats the wheels or rims are called??? Whats the Brand???
Racing Hart I believe
@@magnacars Is it O.Z. Racing Rally??? Looks like one but just wanna make sure I had the right one. It looks awesome by the way.
Why rush the build to go to a car show 😭
There needs to be stakes for entertainment value I guess
CRACK IN THE BACK🤣🤣🤣🤣
Be carefull with your nails dude
Can you make the subtitle on you're vd's , it's hard to understand all what's happening when English not your 1st lang ❤
You’re not building anything. Why don’t you do the work yourself 😂😂😂
13:22
Bought not built.
12:35 LOOL Jasons face after you said that says all. You dont even know what you are looking at without it being explained to you... how can you have the eye for perfection? This build would be so nice to watch if it was literally just Jason.
Jason is the only good part about these videos.
can you see if you can do a colab with @AR12Gaming
