Geoff is a master at making an innovative and immersive soundscape. I have no doubt that bringing the bass drum kicks and creepy strings to the forefront of the mix was a very intentional choice. Also, no that wasn’t Geoff on that bass drop, that was digital. He recently said in a chat that he never sings the supporting bass hits or lines in his own music the way he might do for VoicePlay. He might have very low bass harmony, but not those kinds of foundational sounds as vocals in his songs.
8:50 I think the word you're looking for is "haunting." And you're absolutely right! Big time goosebumps with this one! (Like that's anything new with Geoff...)
This devastated me! I feel like my husband left me and took the cats and kid.....but irl they are really sitting here in the room with me 😂 Geoff absolutely nailed this.
I hope there will come a time when I can hear this without tears, but I am not counting on it! Also, isn't it about time that we rave over his acting ability? Or maybe it has been mentioned, lol. But he is a helluva an actor. Put that, the face, the body, the voice AND the low notes, and there is not much more to say. Lovely, lovely reaction and I am in total agreement with your comments. I look forward to "Sleeping".
Geoff has fun when he gets to play with music and sound effects. He's previously used a clanging metal gate, shovel hitting sand, and shovel hitting dirt (all in I See Fire). The screenshot he shared for this one had tracks for whale and dolphin song, and locusts. In the premiere chat, he was like a giddy kid, pointing them out. "Locusts!" I didn't recognize it by name but I was familiar with the Chris Isaak song. Another of Geoff's skills is telling the story of a song, often better than the original artist, like he did here, in Ain't No Sunshine, and his arrangement for VoicePlay's version of Dream On. I don't want to fall in love, I don't want to feel that heartbreak. You FEEL that with Geoff's performance more than with Chris. Or at least, I do.
Wait until you hear the VoicePlay song...oh my Valkyrie loving heart!! It's reminds me of Xena lol. It felt otherworldly i can't explain how it made me feel
I'm so glad you got both fans out for this one DJ! I expected the bass fan and then to see the other come out made me giggle so hard! Those high notes from Geoff are just another part of his masterclass. It's amazing how much he can do and how many ways he can blow us fans away, even when we've been his fans for a while! Can you believe it is almost a year since you found him and listened for the first time? DJ, have a fantastic day, sending you all the love! Thank you, as always, for this reaction #HerdLove
Hauntingly beautiful. So glad Geoff did this, strangely I didn't even recognize it for a bit. I think Kathy mussed up his hair until it fit the song. Don't forget VoicePlay's Sleeping in the Cold Below (Warframe).
Haunting is the word most of us come up with. And heartbreaking. I don't know about Geoff's processes on this but he did say that by the tme he was done editing this his behind was numb. The sense of despair at the end of this is intense If you've ever been through it, you know, You just know. And yes his skills know no bounds.
As soon as I saw your premiere scheduled, I shared it with a friend and told her I was looking forward to seeing you melt! Something about that lion's purr feels like a warm hug to me, despite the lyrics kind of being the opposite. If you haven't already, I recommend listening to this with your best headphones on and your eyes closed to see if you can feel it too!
This reminds me a lot of his cover of high and dry, just the setting and tone .....i love it. Its so haunting. I told you to make sure you had Bae ready with a mop after this one 😂😂😂💜💜🦌
Your outburst at 12:19... gave me a good laugh.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Geoff Castellucci hasn't learned about limits and is always pushing them.😏 There's something about Geoff wearing black or gray clothes when he plays the piano that makes me curious.🤔
For me, it wasn't the clock ticking, but a heart thumping. One unbearably lonely heart.
Yes!
I did not know I needed a Geoffcover of Wicked Game until this came out, and now I cannot imagine a world without it.
It took us a while to convince him to do it... Much like aint no sunshine, he does not enjoy being sad like this. But it was well worth it.
@@leechowning2712thank you! Those are two of my favorite songs he has done. Just incredible artistry from Geoff
This is so hauntingly beautiful.
"I want to peel my skin off right now, and I don't even know what that means" 😂. Hilarious reaction DJ

Those "doonk" bass sound effects felt like that hit in the guts you get with emotional pain. Love your reaction and I'm off to the counsellor too.

You definitely need to check out their new video slleping in the cold below! It is a voiceplay masterpiece just like all of their songs!

The setting and the mood also remind me of his setting for Ain't No Sunshine.
Geoff's cover is great! My favorite cover of this song though is by H.I.M.

I have been waiting to watch this to see it with you. WOW!!! It was worth the wait. He just keeps blowing my mind with his talent.

I love this cover. SO MUCH
Thank you DJ for another great reaction to Geoff. He has a way of reaching deep down into your soul.

Omg love love love ❤ the low voice of his
I'm glad someone else gets cute aggression over good voices as well
Excellent reaction. And I want that Joker t-shirt.
the longer the video went on the more appropriate the shirt choice got 😂
(Lovely Tardis VanGogh btw, I have the same poster 😍)
Thanks for a wicked reaction 😊
Love the reaction! Thank you for my smile today. I really needed it.
Yay! The reaction I’ve been waiting for!
For me it was the few seconds of silence at the end where he's just sitting there. That was absolutely a gut punch.
My walls shook….❤
Great Reaction Dylan Have a Fantastic Day tomorrow Goodnight
Today, DJ chose violence
Forever in amazement😊❤
Love this❤
you kept saying they! Just Geoff and Kathy (and some hairspray!) what else do you need? ❤
Sounds effects by DJ 😂😂
Awesome reaction! This one hits me so hard. I fell in love with it immediately. ❤

Prediction before you start listening-you do an almost instant pause at the beginning. Edit: I was wrong.
💔❤🩹
How is it that a song so heartbreaking makes me want to snuggle my husband?
Like, it's sad but sexy? Haunting but hornnnnnevermind....
