To me its Aethetics vs Realism, Unreal 4 has more effects, brighter colours and doesn't deal with alot of shadows. Unreal 5, is more realistic with its shadows, making things appear discolored, diffused and washed out, in the case of the retail they opted to take out alot of the lighting for a natural look. Both are not bad but I wish they stuck with the overblown effects, they used before, just to show off even more.
The only question I have is when the Destined on almost killed the Wolf in the demo, Sun Wukong stopped him. But in retail, Sun Wukong never showed afterward. I wonder why they changed that
@@connerbond5546 nope that is why i am watching this comparison video...to decide whether i should buy this game now or wait for a few patches...nonetheless having no HDR support for a game launched in 2024 is inexcusable.🤷♂️
I’m tired of developers showcasing a better game than what we get on release. I’m naturally a detail oriented person, so minor detail changes are very noticeable to me; they stick out immediately. Edit: I should note that I purchased the game, and it runs pretty well, and I enjoy it. I just think game studios need to better prepare for the systems their creating a game for, or stop falsely advertising a better product than what we get. Studios should be held to account, or they’ll keep doing this.
you have to blame Sony and Microsoft.. their shitty sub par consoles is what holds back the Graphics in entire Gaming Industry . Because the developers can't afford to make a Game for this console , a second game version for this other and a third for PC. Instead they make with graphics that all Consoles and PC can play. So it means they need to downgrade their games graphics , so it can be played in the shitty consoles. The solution is that Microsoft and Sony release a real Next Gen Console next time.. that surpass several times anything what best PC's today can do with a Geforce 4090 . Because this consoles are supposed to last a decade or more.. so they need to use hardware that not only will be fast for today graphics but for graphics games in next 10 years too.. In a way that their performance is on par with the level of PC graphics should be doing , when video cards will be running 10x gears from now in the future.. So hardware vendors of Consoles , needs to stop cutting corners and they either move their games to PC and require next gen graphics or they release Consoles that surpass best gaming PC's for the next decade.
It shows how defined their vision for what this game would be from the start. It’s crazy how basically all those combos and spells are in the final version.
@@kratosatreus5085you the one who needs to check your eyes. retail no hdr No moving trees in wind Less particle effects /volumetric fog Shadow resolution lower Hair effects lower Worse lighting and reflections. @@dagnisnierlins188 GIve the PS5 some slack man, that console can't even run it properly it even have some lag on some cutscene or heavy load~ The youtuber should have put it on par with a maxed out rtx4090 high end PC not PS5.
Many people say that the graphics are downgrading, which is a very unrealistic statement. You can only see the best results by using the strongest computer hardware on your computer, not the PS5 with far inferior performance. I don't deny that there are some differences in the details of artistic processing, because the rendering engines of the first trailer and the final version of the game are different, and this difference in performance should not be casually understood as a visual downgrade. As for those dancing leaves, I have encountered many places in the computer version that perform very well without any problems.
The demo version is played on high end pc i assumed. Its common for graphic design, we use very high end graphic card, dual monitors on design, but when its display on client, the quality of output really subject to the device they use
I think they were using EVERYTHING they could using the demo. Ray tracing, HDR, high frame rate, etc. Then along the way the realized it was taxing the f*** out of PC and more so the PS5 and decided to cut corners.
I just saw someone streaming the game...and the wolf boss looks exactly like the one in the demo. Did they update the game or is it just that guy has good spec pc?
I actually prefer the softer hair look for the wolf boss in the retail version. I think it's more realistic, and it moves too. The demo version shows the hair like stiff bristles, and is more stylized/unnatural.
@@theivans90 it is the truth for this one though lol and tbh the hair is still very fluffy on pc, ps5 really make the wolf boss look like he is balding
I think major difference we are seeing is because of Contrast and lighting setting, real version has similar graphics just higher contrast and duller light, if we can custom tweak it we can make it more visually similar
Remembering that on PC, the graphics is better than PS5, with Ray Tracing etc etc... So, if here it's already great, on PC is high level. No downgrade.
The only thing that i like more in the demo compared to the retail, is that it seems that you could indeed parry, while in the retail you avoid to constantly dodge. Also the boss encounter animation feels somewhat smoother in the demo.
What the hell, everyone here is defending the downgrade just because it's not a typical company like Ubisoft? It's not just a change in "brightness." The movement and realism of the plants, textures, lighting... EVERYTHING has been reduced graphically. Whether the game is good or not, I'm not criticizing that anymore, but they did lie in the demo, just like many companies do.
Your forget to point the RESOLUTION, and the sttutering. They're very noticeable. But this is full of silly fanboys defending their crappy console. So I'm here just for the laughs...
Looks like they did some optimization for people's pcs so performance was better across the board, now I owner if the retail is a pc with graphical fidelity turned all the way up or not?
in the demo version, the hair looks like it uses a particle system, but in the retail version it uses polygon hair, but I understand why the quality of the hair is downgraded, because it's to reduce the game file size so it's not because the PS5 isn't powerful enough.
Sure, dude. Sure. 😂😂 Btw, particle effects are not "a file". They're instructions. Textures have a weight in mb, even gb. The ps5 can't handle the graphics. That's all. Stop spreading your ignorance.
@@eddcerez8756 do you ever trying to save the 3D model that contain a particle system🤣? Btw particle hair and particle effect there is two different thing😀.
@@memewgaming2198Your argument makes no sense whatsoever. Have you even looked at how the PS5 runs this game? It’s pushing 1080p with upscaling and frame generation just to hit 60 FPS, and even then, it still drops below that. Have you seen side-by-side comparisons showing how demanding the hair rendering is on PC? Hair is one of the most hardware-intensive elements to render-just look at Leon's hair in the Resident Evil 4 remake. So yes, the PS5 simply doesn’t have the power to deliver high-fidelity hair.
@@tvcultural68 Please believe what you think is true🤣. Comparing PS5 hardware to PC is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The point of what I'm saying is that the PS5 is strong enough to run the game and is still comfortable to play on the PS5, so this minor issue is not a big problem😀. This problem is getting bigger because of silly people comparing PS5 to PC🤣.
@@memewgaming2198 You’re completely missing the point. The game already struggles on the PS5, and the realistic hair strand effect is going to be demanding no matter the hardware. As I mentioned, this effect is taxing-just look at Resident Evil 4 Remake. When you enable the hair effect, the PS5 drops to around 40-50 FPS, losing about 20 FPS just because of that visual effect. The facts speak for themselves, and you can’t argue against them.
You cannot ignore hardware when discussing image quality. This demo was released on August 20, 2020, and it is speculated to run on a 2080 Super or Titan RTX. The graphics performance of the PS5 has been tested to be equivalent to a 2070. The engine was changed halfway through, and Unreal Engine 5 optimization is not mature yet. To ensure compatibility with the PS5, significant sacrifices had to be made in terms of image quality in order to guarantee performance.
@@toby_ri2669 Demo looks better if you know anything about gaming, the first thing you'll notice would be the terrible taa on the retail it looks worse than demo one. There is ghosting present. Edit: If you can't see the ghosting lower the speed of the video and compare the demo and the retail, you'll see the demo one is way smoother and looks polished than the retail one. In TH-cam videos, we won't notice the ghosting unless the video is slowed, but when you play it irl you'll notice it even in 60, 70 or even 144fps.
Demo looks pretty good with RTX and it has more details and particles. Retail looks good but it looks like the gameplay was recorded with high graphics and No RTX. I’ve seen other videos and wow quality is pretty good.
The only things I wish got carried over from the demo was the look of Guangzhi and his flames, and his waiting to see if you would set down your weapons. The other thing would be a blend of the little mountain god's camera work and audio quality from the demo, mixed with the birds flying away due to Lingxuizi's howling. Other than that, the visuals in the retail look phenomenal.
I noticed that they also changed the starting armor as well. Which was surprising because all the promotional footage was of him in the demo outfit. I’m happy with what we got and actually prefer it though.
It is noticeable that the lighting has improved its performance, as well as some details such as the textures and complexity of the graphics on the bridge or the number of enemies that appear when advancing along the wooden bridge. I have not played it yet, but my opinion is based on what I saw in this video.
TBH, I would love to play against those thousand soldiers from the trailer, and your moveset there is similar to the Broken Shell, IDK why it was cut from the retail but assuming it might cause performance issues cause even in the trailer you can actually see a slight lag (or that they reduced the physics/animations), it was kind of a let down cause I was expecting to fight a lot of soldiers on that cloud area, don't get me wrong though the game have improved a lot and I loved playing the game, I bought the game after it was released and already had 50 hours on it after 3 days.
wow amazing how the retail looks better and more detail especially on that wolf boss fight, his hair in retail looks better and more realistic. for a studio's first game the knocked it out of the park
9/10 for me. Very good game. 3 downgrades that left me slightly disappointed: - no ragdoll (same dead animation for enemies) - visual effects and particles look less juicy - hair and fluff less fluffy
Uhhhh, how about them wall polygons?😂 This kind of stuff is unacceptable even for ps4. This is extremely disturbing to see for such a price range . I was on bots for this game from day one, and still is. But the quality of the visuals even in pc is very very bad. The game lacks focus and fidelity. Low fps isn’t the only thing, lack of definition is much much worse. You can’t have washed out polygons on a close range rocks or foliage. You can’t have this in 2024 even out far in the distance . To me sadly, this game turned out to be exactly what I was afraid of.
Lol what?! It’s using Ray traced Lumen GI, and PC version has Path Tracing, both of which are monumentally ahead of UE4 2020 demo. I guess you meant the lighting art maybe? Which is subjective.
Imo the demo version from 12:10 onward to the end is much more realistically cinematic with overall richer tone. What might throw it off though is the demo version also overdoing some things like bloom with the fog on light sources and the color grading giving a little bit of that washed out screen film look at times but if that was tuned a bit better it'd be great. Some absolute upgrades in Retail for sure but honestly it feels more generically UE realism at least in these gameplay sections than the demo did to me. Both look good though for sure
15:57 Some people have no idea what they are looking at look at the stairs going up the retail is way better. The ones on the left are stairs you would see in 2001 games 😂 its a big difference from the demo and what we got they did a good job on updating the graphics
I got this for PS5 and am enjoying it. I still have a Ryzen 5 3600 and am not sure if that chip would do well running this. I updated every other component of my system except that one. 32 gigs ram, Sapphire Radeon 6800xt gfx card, 500 gig nvme2 drive, but i am still running a R5 3600.
@@Cycu1please tell us more what graphics are you using? performance or balance or quality mode. in my opinion the retail looks better but on my ps5 it looks worse!?
If i remember well, in the previous trailers , it was not mentioned that the demo was on PS5. I think it was on PC. Need to see now the same kind of comparison with the PC version. For example, like Asmongold's PC with a 4090Ti to see if there is a difference between PC & PS5 then between PC&Demo.

To me its Aethetics vs Realism,
Unreal 4 has more effects, brighter colours and doesn't deal with alot of shadows.
I wonder why they changed that
Oui également d'autre scene de la bande annonce et des demo n'apparaissent pas dans le jeux..
The retail kinda look more clear and the shadow looks more realistic
HDR is making the retail game darker and Also, the sword effects and fire effects are reduced heavily. Apart from it everything looks similar.

Quit gaming. Problem solved
you have to blame Sony and Microsoft.. their shitty sub par consoles is what holds back the Graphics in entire Gaming Industry .
Not enough attention to detail to realize you wrote "showing casing".
Go play on PC
You expect a pre release demo on a high end pc to look exactly like the release version on a PS5?
Are you alright, mate? Need some vitamins, Id say.
Im glad it doesnt feel like a soulslike knock off, feels like its own game 🔥😌
I’m not a fan of souls-like or games like this but if it feels its own then I’m with you.
It shows how defined their vision for what this game would be from the start. It’s crazy how basically all those combos and spells are in the final version.
Interesting. Tree vegetation not swaying in the wind on retail version.
That would distroy my pc
Environment in demo looks cool , but retail has more realism and particle physx
They Removed Good Realistic Windy Trees 🌴 and Reflective Puddles.. and Lighting
Unreal Engine must die, its a garbage
Game still looks beautiful. But there's a huge downgrade nonetheless.

No moving trees in wind
Less particle effects /volumetric fog

The heavier shadows mask the quality reduction. That being said, it still looks good to me.
Looking forward to getting home from work to finally play this
Many people say that the graphics are downgrading, which is a very unrealistic statement.
The people that was waiting for no downgrade, so innocent.
The demo version is played on high end pc i assumed. Its common for graphic design, we use very high end graphic card, dual monitors on design, but when its display on client, the quality of output really subject to the device they use
Demo I watch better, have it much more illumination and clarity in everything. Why after 4 years is worst?
Demo is ue4 retail is ue5 no downgrade but little upgrade
I think they were using EVERYTHING they could using the demo. Ray tracing, HDR, high frame rate, etc. Then along the way the realized it was taxing the f*** out of PC and more so the PS5 and decided to cut corners.
@@加尔君 That does not mean better graphics, the real thing is they had to downgrade for consoles, its always the case...
I just saw someone streaming the game...and the wolf boss looks exactly like the one in the demo. Did they update the game or is it just that guy has good spec pc?
Seems too dark. Maybe a hdr settings issue?

In their defense, even during the 1st trailer launch, they did put a disclaimer it is from pre-alpha game build and doesnt represent the final look.
I actually prefer the softer hair look for the wolf boss in the retail version. I think it's more realistic, and it moves too. The demo version shows the hair like stiff bristles, and is more stylized/unnatural.
Repeat it until you believe it
@@theivans90 it is the truth for this one though lol and tbh the hair is still very fluffy on pc, ps5 really make the wolf boss look like he is balding
Whatever makes you sleep better at night

No the game literally looks better than either of these on a maxed out pc, this comparison is stupid fir that reason
Maxed out pc looks very close to the demo.
Your forget to point the RESOLUTION, and the sttutering. They're very noticeable. But this is full of silly fanboys defending their crappy console. So I'm here just for the laughs...
Yes yes, this is so sad to see. If the game would cost 40 dollars as an indie project, then it is ok.
But we played top dollar for it.
@@igorabrekov7017 Why would it be okay if an indie team lied to you compared to a big company lying to you? You are still being lied to.😂
Looks like they did some optimization for people's pcs so performance was better across the board, now I owner if the retail is a pc with graphical fidelity turned all the way up or not?
Big downgrade - no loghting and physics when striking enemies, way less impressive shadows and shaders.

@lechistanskiswit320 no excuse, sir
Can't complain, hairworks has always been the biggest performance hit in past games.
in the demo version, the hair looks like it uses a particle system, but in the retail version it uses polygon hair, but I understand why the quality of the hair is downgraded, because it's to reduce the game file size so it's not because the PS5 isn't powerful enough.
Sure, dude. Sure. 😂😂
Btw, particle effects are not "a file".
Why do they do this? I remember division 1 looking phenomenal, n the retail still looked great but nothing like that e3 reveal.
They never do
Demo is partial of the game, so they can have better looks while not full game
Retails takes space and sacrifices has to be made

TBH, I would love to play against those thousand soldiers from the trailer, and your moveset there is similar to the Broken Shell, IDK why it was cut from the retail but assuming it might cause performance issues cause even in the trailer you can actually see a slight lag (or that they reduced the physics/animations), it was kind of a let down cause I was expecting to fight a lot of soldiers on that cloud area, don't get me wrong though the game have improved a lot and I loved playing the game, I bought the game after it was released and already had 50 hours on it after 3 days.

Uhhhh, how about them wall polygons?😂
This kind of stuff is unacceptable even for ps4.

I think the retail one is much better, overall lighting, area of depth & minute detail. The demo one feels kinda cartoonish & doesn't feel realistic😮
Was the downgrade across the board, or just for console? Can a powerful pc set up still match demo quality?
Me watching on 240p phone: "hmm yes the left pixel does look a little different from the right pixel."
Looks like the demo is using a reshade filter mod similar to the one on PC, which changes the overall visual appearance of the game.
