I don’t even know if this is my favorite Tool album, but man if it isn’t addictive. I come back to it time and time again

Same. Is good for an official live fix in between tours as well.
Im a tool addict also learn to play this on guitar bro
Dude imagine being in an intelligent life bearing solar system, and this piece of music arrives on a random interstellar object. Love to Carl Sagan.
I used to listen to tool religiously than I stopped listening to all metal its been 6 years and here I am, out of all these albums this fleamarket one might be the best
The cover of No Quarter is amazing
Album I didn't know about glad to get to know it these guys are so fucking talented it's hard to define greatness like tool
have you heard the cover of No Quarter by Crowbar? If you like raw stuff you may like it.
Ive been listening to Tool for years and i cant believe i havent come across this album until now. Absolutely incredible. Easily my new favorite. This will be on repeat for a long time...spiral out. ❤ -steph
Going to My first Tool concert here soon. So stoked. There's no one I want to see more. I feel the same way and cant believe I haven't listened to this album before. -Jon
@@jonbrown8049where you seeing them?
I’m kinda jealous tbh. It’s always nice when you get to experience new music from a band you enjoy. In your case though you get new music from 23 years ago and to hear this for the first time today I think my head would explode!!
Isn’t it awesome to listen to songs from your favorite band/bands that you haven’t heard before lol
Only been around for 20 years
It's hard to believe that there could be better renditions of Third Eye and Pushit than what could be found on the album but, alas, here they are.
Including "No Quarter" in this statement.
I love the speech at the start of the Salival version of Pushit, but the best version of that song is - Tool 7-8-1998 Pushit ALT Lewiston, ME dvd 0G
There''s live footage of it if you dig deep
Adam's work on "You lied" is sublime!
And Buzz from the Melvins is rhythm. Dude is solid.
about what?
I'm absolutely fortunate to know that I heard this same exact version of Pushit at my first TOOL show in 98. I was beyond blown away and hooked.
No you didn't liar. Quit lying on the internet
One of my top 5 concert memories was the 3rd time I saw Tool. Oklahoma City. It happened to be the first time my wife went to see them with me (new initiate). We walked into the auditorium right as the lights dropped and "Think For Yourself..." came across the speakers. The place went fucking nuts. They very rarely play Third Eye. To say it was an experience would be a severe understatement. Great memory.
Awesome memory! but, just so you know, they opened with 3rd eye on that whole tour
@@hunterfitch5951 seriously?? I could swore I checked their set list and didnt see it on the previous few shows. But I might be thinking about another tour.
But yeah, the memory is one of my favorites. It's the only time I've ever heard them play it live. It was a religious experience.
@@hunterfitch5951 that show is also responsible for my wife's now insta-horny every time she hears Lateralus. I planned to kiss her right when the gong hits and it ended up being a huge Makeout fest for the rest of the song. 😂😂😂
That was probably the coolest I'll ever be.
haven’t heard that version of pushit in maybe 18 years. what a force 🤯
What an insanely brilliant album
"So good to see you, I've missed you so much, so glad it's over, I've missed you so much" is exactly what it was like revisiting LSD 20 years later. 2000 was a crazy year.
Mine was about 40 years ago...acid, mda, shrooms, coke, poppers. Oh for those olden days. 😉
I didn’t take psychedelics for near 15 years after using a lot as a teen. Took mushrooms and listened this song and was just so fucking blown away at how much it syncs up with the experience. The songs comes in waves with explosive moments. Mimicking the mushroom experience. And as you sink further and further into yourself and begin to interact with parts of your conscious that are normally hidden, that line so fucking profound and so fucking spot on.

Dreamy, ethereal, mystical, trippy, other worldly....and still indescribable. December 17, 2023 and I just found this. Also just found Tool and whole fucking lot more over 2023 that I didn't know about...loving it. Just close your eyes and meet them on the other side. 🔥
Man, I am jealous! I remember how I heard them first time, it was The Discovery!!! It became my favorite band, complex beautiful music with deep emotions in lyrics, plus I had addiction problem with opioids and when I heard Sober (it was first song of Tool I heard) I was so surprised that someone could describe exactly what I felt back when I was trying to stop getting high and destroying myself.
I wish I had a chance to experience again those feelings when I heard them first time, now it is almost 15 years I am listening them…
@@vyacheslavvovkovskiy9497 Hey, thank you for sharing. 🙏 First, The Discovery, the movie? I wasn't familiar with it but looked it up. Second, went back and reran Sober (the claymation one), looking at the lyrics and reading comments. The song has meant a lot to a lot of people. When I see these types of comments on songs, I feel lucky that I didn't have any addiction issues. Sure I had "fun" when I was young but eventually got a job that I was subject to drug testing...loved the job so that kept me pretty straight for almost 40 years. Peace. ✌️

Starting 2024 with this. Peak Tool.
Talking my daughter to see Tool for the 1st time on feb 18. Ive seen them 3x and APC 4x...... She's beyond stoked.
Valentine's Day present from hubby! I took him to his first Tool live 6 years ago, he's taking me to this one. Good dad, you are. Hope she has a wonderful time she will remember forever.
How was it?!
I'll be honest. I've seen them a few x and this was so so for me. Everyone says it was amazing. Well, he was sick, it was a long tour, their older. I get it. His voice messed up alot... He was sick so was what it was. With that said, I saw the BC concert on TH-cam and it was on point. SOOOO, he's vindicated. @@completelypresent
Nice. Envious Dad, here. Sounds like a good goal for us to set!
Took my dad and his friend to see TOOL for their birthdays. It was my first show and my Dads. AMAZING TIME!! Did you pick up some of those limited edition city coins?
The live version of "Pushit" found on Tool's album "Salival" offers a distinct and captivating reinterpretation of the original studio recording. Released in 2000, "Salival" is a compilation album featuring various live tracks, including an extended and evolved rendition of "Pushit." This live version showcases the band's ability to further explore and expand upon the song's core elements, resulting in a unique and powerful performance.
One of the most significant differences in the live version of "Pushit" is its extended duration. While the studio version runs for approximately nine minutes, the live rendition stretches to over thirteen minutes, allowing the band ample room for improvisation and experimentation. This expanded timeframe enables them to delve deeper into the song's dynamics, creating a heightened sense of tension and release.
The introduction of the live version sets a haunting and atmospheric tone. The ambient soundscape, coupled with Maynard James Keenan's whispered vocals, creates an eerie and introspective atmosphere that immediately draws the listener in. This extended intro allows the band to establish a stronger emotional connection with the audience, setting the stage for the emotional journey that lies ahead.
Musically, the live rendition of "Pushit" features nuanced changes and additions to the instrumentation. Adam Jones' guitar work incorporates new melodic elements and solos, adding a fresh layer of complexity to the song. The extended duration allows for extended guitar solos and improvisations, showcasing Jones' technical skills and creativity.
Danny Carey's drumming takes on a more exploratory nature in the live version. He introduces new fills, variations, and rhythmic accents, injecting additional energy and intensity into the performance. Carey's ability to seamlessly navigate complex rhythms and syncopations is on full display, further enhancing the dynamic nature of the song.
Justin Chancellor's basslines are more pronounced in the live rendition, contributing to the overall heaviness and groove of the performance. His bass playing provides a solid foundation and adds a driving force that propels the song forward.
Maynard James Keenan's vocals in the live version are characterized by subtle differences in delivery and expression. His emotional range shines through, with moments of vulnerability and raw intensity that are unique to each live performance. Keenan's ability to capture the audience's attention and convey the song's underlying emotions remains a standout aspect of the live rendition.
The climax of the live version of "Pushit" is a truly awe-inspiring moment. As the band reaches the peak of their performance, the energy and intensity escalate, with Keenan's vocals soaring to new heights and the instrumentation reaching a thunderous crescendo. This heightened climax creates an even more powerful sense of release and catharsis than in the studio version.
Overall, the live version of "Pushit" on "Salival" offers a deeper exploration of the song's themes and a heightened level of musicality. The extended duration allows for more intricate instrumentations, improvisations, and emotional nuances, creating a truly captivating and immersive experience for the listener. It stands as a testament to Tool's ability to push the boundaries of their music and deliver unforgettable live performances.

11/6/2023, experienced TOOL live for the first time at Rochester War Memorial (Blue Cross Arena which I refuse to call it because well, Blue Cross...) last night my mind was blown! Have heard plenty of Tools music but all pulled together in a live venue and seeing the amount of time/energy put into the show and the stage/lighting etc.... omg unreal, amazing just WOW!!! Thank you for rocking my favorite 80s rock venue the way it used to and way beyond!!!
I was there too.
My first TOOL show as well.

I agree but after nearly 35 yrs of killing it, Maynards voice is sadly.... not the same as on this album.

Dude..... it took me until the crowd noise to realize it was live. So fucking polished. They were prine in 2000!
Still polished 2023 Tacoma Dome!!
It was mostly 1998. Their prime imo.
@Antoniales321 yeah.... Aenima is still their best album, to me. Ive only ever seen them live once and it was a "surprise show" at the Tabernacle in Atl (seats 3k only!) It was the day Laterallus released and the word in the fandom was they wanted to play a warm up show before they left to tour Europe. My brother waited 6 hours for tix the day before and we waited 10 hours to get in, day of! Saw tix go for $1200 right in front of us One of THE most memorable days of my life. Incredible.
First time MSG 1/12/24. Very enjoyable. Drummer unreal. And I got a pic from bassist.

Very nice brothers! Full support!!
Can't think of a more fitting band to cover No quarter. This is a Tool song.
One of the few covers that are better than the original. Like Pantera with Sabbath's planet caravan. Pantera simply played it better. Same with Tool and Zeppelin. Better version of no quarter.
@@krmitt5 I prefer this version of no quarter, but MSG 1973 comes really close to this version as well, though i strongly disagree on planet caravan, the original is a perfect piece of art and while I am a huge pantera fan, love and appreciate their cover, its not the original

This version of No Quarter (sound quality speaking) is the best version on youtube, why the hell isn’t No Quarter available on Tool’s official youtube channel? Every other song is including the live versions on Salival…
my guess would be copyrights. the publishing firms of classic acts (like Led Zeppelin) are pretty aggressive when it comes to strikes.
