I always come back to this video because it is probably the most intense encounter someone can experience. When that shark emerges from the darkness and is coming fast and straight to the guy... that has to be the most terryfing moment this guy has experienced. It terrifies me and I am here behind my screen. Can't imagine being there.

Would advise you to look at other videos. One is a teal water where a diver has back turned and a White takes a nibble at his head from his flank and could have taken his head off if he wanted to.

While this is terrifying if you watch the shark it’s behavior could at worst be described as curious. There’s no aggression because whites are ambush predators and it had its opportunity and didn’t take it.

I couldn’t imagine what it’s like swimming at the top of the water knowing a great white is underneath you. They attack from below, you’re more vulnerable at the surface, but you also gotta take the risk to get out of the water.
have you been to the beach at anytime in your life? if the answer is yes, you have swan in shark infested waters without you noticing. shark, specially great whites tend to stay close to the shore as their main pray is seals and sea lions, which tend to be close the the shore. the reason most people dont notice then is because of how rare shark attacks are, most of the time they are just going to swim pass you, see what you are, then move on with their day. their is a great channel that shows this really called malibu artist, you should check it out. also this does not mean you need to jump in the ocean in shark infected waters, their is still a possibility of an attack, and taking your time and showing the respect this creature deserve should be in your mind.
That’d be true if you were a seal… shark attacks in people tend to be violent but it’s just a shove compared to how their prey actually get violated. I remember seeing drone footage of a seal and a shark swimming separated by a rock and having no idea the other was there. Once they met it took the shark about half a second to turn its head, dash forward and grab it… meanwhile when it comes to us they turn a little, come close to investigate and eventually want to take a bite. That is why when diving it’s very rare because you can face it and show you not worth the bother, when you are surfing or swimming at the surface well you have no idea you are playing this game with it.
@@zleeven I remember some coast guard helicopter dude said that if people knew how close sharks actually got to people while they swam in the water, they'd never go swimming in the ocean again.
@@zleeven but most of the Great Whites, filmed by The Malibu Artists are juvenile Great Whites of 2 - 2.5 m length. Their prey aren't seals and sea lions, rather they still hunt fish at this age.

The scariest feeling is knowing no matter how much energy you spend or what gear you have, you are moving in slow motion compared to this predator. Plus, he can come at you from any direction without warning, including above and below. These are the main reasons the ocean is my #1 fear.
They will attack you in one of two ways, either they will take a bite out of you to taste whether you are edible or they hunt you which means coming from below then swimming up really fast and breaching out of the water with you in their mouth, if the second scenario happens then you will 100 percent die no amount of brain or muscle will save you. The shark in this video isnt hunting these guys.

As a diver, the scariest time in the water is when you're on the surface with your head up. Almost being attacked by a 13ft Great White in Santa Barbara was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life.

I was diving by myself over the reef at Refugio State beach, late afternoon around 4pm. The morning dive with my girlfriend was fine, clear water, lots of fish. During the day a red tide came in, no fish. Visibility was only about 5 feet when the shark grazed me. I could reach out and touch that shark, pretty scary.@@pumitriii6160

From the videos I’ve seen out of South Africa, you seem to be almost guaranteed that you’ll encounter a great white if you get in the water. That’s friggin terrifying.

@@donxponce7729 Sharks technically aren't man eaters as it is much much more likely to be struck by lightning or bitten by a snake than being attacked by a great white, most of the time they will idly go about their business and not bother unless blood is detected or a rapid amount of splashing/movement is detected in which they'll get curious and try to take a bite, not eat you whole but take a quick bite which could be very serious but after a bite most times the shark will figure out the person isn't it's prey/something they normal eat and will leave the person be. Some sharks can be very aggressive though but that is pretty rare and varies by species. The great whites just get a bad rap because most times they aren't the aggressive man eaters they're made out to be.

The scariest thing is that they get like 10 feet away from you and then just disappear. Same with crocs. As soon as they're beneath the surface they're invisible.

So he was a tourist on some kind of boat tour in Africa when the boat actually got stranded on a sandbank in the middle of the river, and as it was getting darker this guy volunteered to go and get help because they couldn't free the boat.
Well he said that he had an encounter with one and he ended up drowning it by sticking his arm all the way through the Jaws and pushing a flap down which prevented water from entering the lungs..

It's such a thrill. Because of how quiet it is down there, something like a big ol shark could just be right next to you if you're not paying attention. Part of the experience. Maybe not a white shark though
It looks like the loaded speargun outside of water was the most dangerous thing on this video. Panicking and simulating a prey in distress is the best way to provoke an attack. You need to stay calm and maintain eye contact, if shark approaches, you can put your speargun in between you and shark. This shark was just curious.
