It's not an emergency dive and the submarine is moving slowly as well, they planned for the footage as the camera casing cannot go deeper than periscope depth and too much speed could have detached it from the submarine.

Humans, or me atleast, belong on dry land.
For those of you who are asking why there is so much rust I’ll give you a reason. HMS Torbay is a Trafalgar Class submarine which has been in service many many years and was decommissioned in July 17 2017. The Trafalgar Class submarines were built and commissioned between 1977 and 1986. It is being phased out of service and being replaced by the new Astute class so there’s not much point in wasting millions of pounds giving a shrinking number of subs like the Torbay’ sister ships, Trenchant, Talent and Triumph a new lick of paint which has to be sonar reflective and so forth especially when they are all meant to be decommissioned by 2021.
Alex xeon Yes and reflective. Reflective coating makes the sonar waves bounce off the hull at angles and can fool any enemy vessel nearby that their sonar is pinging off of an underwater rock formation or some other natural obstacle.
wow, I was drafted to Torbay twice in the late 80's and 90's, on the first occasion spending over 600 days at sea in total, never seen her from this angle before though, thanks for the memories :-)

1:47 when it starts to blow out the air it has in its ballast tanks... Things you hear of, but never quite understand how awesome they are until you see them.
ACTUALLY, that is air VENTING out of the Main Ballast Tanks thru the open Main Vents at the top of the tanks - anbient water pressure is expelling the air,
This reminds of a minor incident on board a sub. During an exercise, an anti-submarine pilot reported seeing our screws come out of the water about 20 ft as we did an emergency dive to escape it. After that, the captain maintained a less extreme diving angle while at periscope depth.
That is literally my worst nightmare. I'm trying to desensitize myself to it. One of my recurring dreams is being stuck on top of a submerging submarine and in the middle of the ocean. Please tell me I'm not alone? 😂
One of my phobias is having big metal boats underneath me whilst swimming i have a fear of the ocean anyway, but it seems to be mostly triggered by shipwrecks and subs and the like, Witch is odd because im facinated by them both This stuff is facinating to me, but it always gives me a corkscrew chill up my spine lol So no ...not quite alone on that

HELTERSKELTER No, the best U-Boats really never saw service - The Type XXI
...that is the slowest and most shallow dive I've ever seen... Captain must have changed his mind...
I thought I was going to hear A.O.C's voice crying, "GLOBAL WARMING! MELTING GLACIERS! PEOPLE ARE DYING!"
She must've saw this video?
Man, submarines are the coolest form of warfare!
who left the piece of toilet paper on the deck ?
Its what remains of the white flag the liberals wave every time something happens.
I think that's a naval ensign they forgot to remove
It was washing day
I think biggles was hanging on for dear life.
@@jbweld6193 I'll actually disgree there, they are a tenacious bunch. I almost commend it, until I process the words that come out of their mouth
Now all to do is strap a couple go pros onto a nuclear warhead.
Yes
That’s the American dream
Cool so you can stare at the inside of a missle tube forever?
Whoever was holding the cameras sure did a good job, no jitter, etc
1:47 when it starts to blow out the air it has in its ballast tanks... Things you hear of, but never quite understand how awesome they are until you see them.
Absolutely right
ACTUALLY, that is air VENTING out of the Main Ballast Tanks thru the open Main Vents at the top of the tanks - anbient water pressure is expelling the air,
This reminds of a minor incident on board a sub. During an exercise, an anti-submarine pilot reported seeing our screws come out of the water about 20 ft as we did an emergency dive to escape it. After that, the captain maintained a less extreme diving angle while at periscope depth.
The alborian basin? I thought that was Romulan territory 😂 Great video thanks 👍
DIVE DIVE DIVE!!!
Reaches 20 feet of depth, 40 mins later
I've got to say, with the audio so neat, I could feel the water hitting my face 😂
Damn, true
Every nightmare that I ever had about water… in a video. Nice job
That is literally my worst nightmare. I'm trying to desensitize myself to it. One of my recurring dreams is being stuck on top of a submerging submarine and in the middle of the ocean. Please tell me I'm not alone? 😂
One of my phobias is having big metal boats underneath me whilst swimming
i have a fear of the ocean anyway, but it seems to be mostly triggered by shipwrecks and subs and the like,
Witch is odd because im facinated by them both
This stuff is facinating to me, but it always gives me a corkscrew chill up my spine lol
So no ...not quite alone on that
@@TonySpike
It's called submechanophobia.
Much louder than I expected assuming this audio comes from the camera.
The thought of a submarine diving out from underneath my feet is terrifying.
The acoustic signature of this sub is louder than I thought it would be
I'm guessing a lot of that is the water flowing around the GoPro housing.
While driving and surfacing yes but at combat op depth it's almost completely silent
At cruising depth the pumps are deactivated and the motor power can be reduced so the boat will be much more silent.
For those wondering, the Alboran Basin is the part of the Med Sea between Spain and Morocco.
Who's watching this in 2018🇯🇲✌🏿☝️

In 01.45 AM?
Jah Roos I am
I was under the impression that they would dive a lot faster than this. Awesome video though, thanks for sharing.
Subs can do a crash drive or a controlled dive. This was a controlled dive. They can go under alot faster
Nobody:
TH-cam: we are showing you a sub go underwater for no reason
