Friend - a word of advice. Whenever you play a flute please always use a tambura sruti in the background. That way, you can test the flutes better and be more in tune. Also, use a tuner to really test if the flute is in tune.
As per the flute I got from royalty route - quality is good - sound is not soothing like other branded flutes - holes are big and need to be filed according to ur comfort
flute can be made from any cylindrical shaped material...bamboo, metal, PVC. bamboo that is used for flute should have soft portion inside to generate a soothing sound..Generally such bamboo material is produced in Assam, as the weather or climate do impact the production of bamboo meant for flute.
No. Bamboo should not have any soft portion anywhere. The more rigid the better and will improve resonance and responsiveness. Bamboo suitable for bansuris is grown in Assam but also in Bengal, UP and Kerala. There are other regions in the world too. Certain types of bamboo from the Amazon jungles are also excellent flute material. You should also explore bansuris of different thickness. Most bansuris are thin, but the thicker varieties have their own unique advantages, producing a much deeper sound and certainly stronger sound at the higher notes.
There are three variation of A# small, medium and base, I am assuming the A# Base, hence Poonam flute would cost you around 3 to 4K , ramashish flute would cost you same as 3 to 4K, parth would cost you around with in 3k, roultyroute will provide you under 2k, harshwardhan flute cost you around 19k. All are professional flutes.
If you are talking about the last hole or the eight hole then have you ever wondered that all devices need some tuning ..in guitar in tabla in harmonium....so why not flute..if any how flute get out of tune over the period of time due to temperature then closing this by tape help in tuning it...and the plus point of this 8th hole is it helps in playing many ragas or folks that are rarely played
