Rejected update:Liquid Switch when mario hits the switch it will add any liquid you want which can add water lava or poison. And you can even make the liquid rise. You can also make a clear condition of hitting at least 3 liquid switches in order to beat the level.
That unironically sounds cool. To get it Rejected, though, _(huh, that sounds weird)_ you'd probably need to make it stack with other Liquid Switches so you can set up something like a "Hit 5 liquid switches" clear condition.
Idea: Torpedo Cannons. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to dodge the normal cannons? Well we’re introducing a new variant of the cannon. This is the Torpedo Cannon, they look like normal cannons but with a twist, these cannons will shoot at 10 times the normal cannons speed. The variant red one does the same thing, however, because we didn’t want to be repetitive, we decided to make the red Torpedo Cannon shoot Spike Balls at you at _lightning speed!_ Good luck dodging these boys!
Idea: we know that pits the easiest obstacle in Mario so now we’re adding MONSTER PITS, whenever you try to jump over a pit a monster will grab you and swallow you hole

If you collect it, A very rare event happens depending on the which character the mushroom was set to. For example, if you set it to Samus, Metroids will randomly spawn and attack you. If you set it to Goomba, Luigi will stomp on you but fails miserably. If you set it to Shy Guy, then a group of Shy Guys surround you and will corner you, making it extremely difficult to clear the course.
Portal Cube: This cube is able to activate any input parts. It also comes with a portal button where you can place the portal cube onto the portal button, it can be used to open secret doors, boss fights etc.
Rejected Idea: We all know players love throwing Yoshi into a pit, but PETA has been really upset about it, so now we're introducing: Explosive Yoshi! If you try to get off of him, you just explode! Same happens if you try to use his tongue, jump, or even flutter! Now your levels will be PETA friendly, and we see no reason how this will backfire!

If the switch determines that it has been too long since the last time you played, your switch will lock all of your other games until you play Mario Maker 2 again. However, if you have an NSO expansion pass, then you are free to play whatever game you want.
Okay, real talk. I haven't given a crap about Mario Maker 2 since 2020. A part of me died after the "Final Major Update" dropped in April 2020, and now that it's been 3 years since that update dropped, I have grown very bitter towards it...

You can just sit down and enjoy the wonders of the terrifying AI art while Mario inevitably mistakes a background tree for a climbable one and falls into a pit of spikes!
Idea: The level block! With this incredible asset, you can put levels inside of levels! Tired of boring old pick-a-path? Try pick-a-level! What's more, beating a "Meta Level" (or pressing Exit Course) will bring you back to the "host level", and any items you were holding and powerups you had will come with you! We are confident that players will make use of this feature to create the incredibly well-designed meta-puzzles of their dreams! And you won't believe what happens when you create a recursive paradox...
Rejected update: Bring back the starting and ending platforms not fusing with ground blocks you place in SMM1, make it mandatory in level-making, and change past SMM2 levels to include this amazing feature!
Idea: Goomba variants. We decided that Goombas are too easy to kill, so we added variants! Bullet Goomba: Flies on a Bullet with a gun that fires... well... bullets. Zap Goombas: These Goombas can zap you with electricity and can teleport! Bomb Goomba: Like a Bob-omb, but explodes into 10 regular Goombas. Rock Goomba: This Goomba is protected by its hard, Rocky shell, and when it sees you getting close, it rams into you so you die. And Spring Goomba: Spring Goombas can jump really high, so you never know where it's landing.

You could still get thawed if a bit of fire hits your ice block while you are frozen and if it was in the real game, you would have gravity; I think I outsmarted you there. As for the 100 coin coin, you are correct because 1UPs don't add any coins to coin collecting clear conditions (alliteration actually anticipated). Also now I just noticed that you did upload a video 7 days ago, it's just that I happened to then not be on TH-cam for a week. I ought to watch that one too. My idea would be perhaps something from the new trending Pizza Tower; perhaps a Pizza Tower mode/style where you can do those taunts and moves and can't actually die except kind of if you fall off a cliff. 🍕

Rejected idea: since everyone likes the fire and the ice bar block, we now added the inviseble block, is a fire bar block, but inviseble, imagine playing a level that don't have checkpoint and its super expert, at the end, and when you jump too the flag pole, bam, you died! So much fun!
Rejected update idea: The penguin suit, instead of giving you the powerup from new super Mario bros Wii, it turns you into the baby penguin from Super Mario 64, and then Mario comes on screen and throws you off the stage.
The Time Coin: They look like normal coins, but every time one of these are collected, the timer goes down 1% faster and autoscroll (if applicable) is 1% faster until it's too fast to keep up with.
Idea: Search Bar The search bar will allow to search, and see your favorite items and sounds. No more of guessing what your favorite items and sounds is. Oh. And it will be built to your Nintendo switch.
Idea: *Power-ups costume for Goombas* You can turn a Goombas sprite into a fake mushroom to make the player believe it's actually a power-up. However, if they touch it on the side they get killed, and if they jump on it the player would squish it.
Rejected update: We have sun, moon and black hole, so let's add meteorite! When it touches ground it deletes everything in 10 blocks radius and kills Mario!
The amiibo Shroom is back, but it also forces you to play the game as that character would. Like, you only have the abilities that character has, so if you get the Goomba or the Spring costume, you can essentially get softlocked, 'cause you can't jump. Now imagine getting the ? Block costume.
After we removed the ability for player’s to destroy their switch to retry a level, we noticed that people kept accidentally buying new switches, so we’ve stopped selling and producing them all together!
Rejected update: Volcano themes are being added to Mario Maker 2, but we found it hard to program big lava rocks falling, and adding lava would make it took similar tithe castle theme, so we are making sure the volcano themes have 0 gameplay differences compared to ground levels, and due to “lack of development time“ we are reusing the castle music. Don’t ask why we reused the music but not lava so the background would make sense gameplay wise.
Rejected update: In the last rejected update, we got the super duper star, now we have the Super Cape Feather. It can break anything including the goal and its pound can destroy everything including the menu, so watch out!

Rejected update: on the world map, you can now add invisible paths. Now you can make the final level of the world hard to get to!
Rejected update: place super glue on anything you want to make it super sticky! if you use it on a power-up or yoshi, mario cant lose it anymore from taking damage and will just die instead. use it on an enemy to glue it in place or place it on a block to immobilize anything that touches it.
Idea: when a character dies in a level, you can watch a cutscene of their funeral and their family members blaming you for letting them die.
That's probably also a *[Realistic]* fit.

Yoooo, hello and welcome back! I was just about to comment on a random video on how much I missed you. What a nostalgic, pleasant surprise. Your ideas were nice, I must say. You could still get thawed if a bit of fire hits your ice block while you are frozen and if it was in the real game, you would have gravity; I think I outsmarted you there. As for the 100 coin coin, you are correct because 1UPs don't add any coins to coin collecting clear conditions (alliteration actually anticipated). Also now I just noticed that you did upload a video 7 days ago, it's just that I happened to then not be on TH-cam for a week. I ought to watch that one too. My idea would be perhaps something from the new trending Pizza Tower; perhaps a Pizza Tower mode/style where you can do those taunts and moves and can't actually die except kind of if you fall off a cliff. 🍕
The time up timer: when you collect it, it will instantly be a time up. This would be good to use for don’t step on the wrong step.

The virtual boy power up: turns everything black and red even the irl world and it looks like a fireflower
The blue fire bar, it’s basically the same, but it kills you even if you have a power up
Rejected idea: since everyone likes the fire and the ice bar block, we now added the inviseble block, is a fire bar block, but inviseble, imagine playing a level that don't have checkpoint and its super expert, at the end, and when you jump too the flag pole, bam, you died! So much fun!
Rejected update idea: The penguin suit, instead of giving you the powerup from new super Mario bros Wii, it turns you into the baby penguin from Super Mario 64, and then Mario comes on screen and throws you off the stage.
The Time Coin: They look like normal coins, but every time one of these are collected, the timer goes down 1% faster and autoscroll (if applicable) is 1% faster until it's too fast to keep up with.
Idea: Search Bar
The search bar will allow to search, and see your favorite items and sounds. No more of guessing what your favorite items and sounds is. Oh. And it will be built to your Nintendo switch.
Add the -1 coin, it simply gives you -1 coins, it also counts on "get X coins", so if you need to get all, you will need to reset and not getting it

Idea: *Power-ups costume for Goombas*
You can turn a Goombas sprite into a fake mushroom to make the player believe it's actually a power-up. However, if they touch it on the side they get killed, and if they jump on it the player would squish it.
Rejected update: Milk powerup, once you collect it you have to start running away from your family and move country even if you don't want to.
A 1 coin: It's like just one regular coin but it's so much bigger and it comes with that nice 10 coin sound effect.
The long fire ball actually sounds like a good idea🎉

In the night ground theme, 100 coins should turn evil!!
Rejected update: We have sun, moon and black hole, so let's add meteorite! When it touches ground it deletes everything in 10 blocks radius and kills Mario!
The amiibo Shroom is back, but it also forces you to play the game as that character would. Like, you only have the abilities that character has, so if you get the Goomba or the Spring costume, you can essentially get softlocked, 'cause you can't jump. Now imagine getting the ? Block costume.
As a music level maker, I find it very inconvenient that there's a limit to how long your level can be, and I'd like that cap to be removed.
After we removed the ability for player’s to destroy their switch to retry a level, we noticed that people kept accidentally buying new switches, so we’ve stopped selling and producing them all together!
Rejected update: Volcano themes are being added to Mario Maker 2, but we found it hard to program big lava rocks falling, and adding lava would make it took similar tithe castle theme, so we are making sure the volcano themes have 0 gameplay differences compared to ground levels, and due to “lack of development time“ we are reusing the castle music. Don’t ask why we reused the music but not lava so the background would make sense gameplay wise.

Rejected update: In the last rejected update, we got the super duper star, now we have the Super Cape Feather. It can break anything including the goal and its pound can destroy everything including the menu, so watch out!
Idea: Sonic power up, turns you into Sonic and has the moveset from the classic Sonic games.
Rejected update:new power up character-cup head. When you collect the cup power up you turn into cup head and every thing including the ground turns into an enemy so the levels impossible just like cup head. Think of the possibilities! Actually the only possibility is death…
because everyone loved it when there were a required 10 pink coins, we at nintendo are adding the blue coin. they work exactly like pink coins except there is no limit! so now you can have your friends struggle finding that one "last" 102435th blue coin for that key to the flagpole
Rejected update: obstacle reskin. You can reskin obstacles like spike traps to a hammer in 3D world!
Rejected Update Idea: Elite Enemies
They look very familiar to normal enemies, though they have buffs like triple projectiles or extra hit points.
We know nobody will make a multiplying thwomp that clones itself when it hits the ground.
Idea: glitch mushroom. It looks EXACTLY like a normal mushroom but when you pick it up you take damage if you have more than 1 HP and you have one minute before the game crashes, also the controls are inverted.
Supernova Bob Omb: when mario stomps on this bad boy the whole entire level explodes.

You can now add 🗿 to your levels! You can walk through these, but the 🗿 will stare at you while blocking up parts of the level.
