What a great initiative, teaching kids how to make healthy food for themselves and future families, set's them up for life. Well done YMCA and George & team.
This was awesome, fantastic, and beautiful. George, Marcus, Mr. Fanuka and oh my the gentleman who did the murals for the walls. Everyone (IMO) should be like that little one at the end 'I love everything' That is appreciation through the eyes of a child.
I love this show. People of all sorts and colors and creeds are working together for the common good, and they're having a great time doing it. THAT is what our country is, and should always be.
“I like EVERYTHING “ So proud of these very giving women!! Reminds me of this guy on TH-cam called George to the rescue!! This show with George and Fanuka shows us an example of “the good guys “ Thanks. The world needs lots more good men. Great job!!
Excellent way to get kids to eat properly, get them to cook the food. Growing their own vegies helps too, especially with very young kids. You can freeze a small bag of 'their' home grown veg and they will eat it for years knowing that it's their own! (Yes, I did this with my son very successfully, I also got all 3 of my kids to eat Brussels sprouts by calling them Fairy cabbages).
Brilliant work, the amount of time & attention to the finer details of asbestos, fire & electrical safety (the things that folks don’t see) is truly impressive. It just goes to show that your rescues are way more than what’s obvious on the surface. Seriously impressive work from all of you & what an awesome looking kitchen that will no doubt help the folks at the YMCA create many a great meal for years to come. 🙌😍
Fanuka is a great guy too. Keep on changing lives George. The team always play a major part too ❤❤❤ Lovely kitchen the earlier they learn the easier the get to love healthy food.
What an absolutely dream job you have George! To be able to help so many achieve their dream homes! This is a special one because it truly will bless generations! Would love to see more of these if possible!
It’s somewhat ironic that he’s banging on about how good the paint matching is, but it looks exactly like the colour to the right, and not Fairytale Blue 😂
If there was asbestos in the kitchen, they may want to check for other similar ceiling tiles in other parts of that building. They could be asbestos too.
To remove asbestos is super expensive and basically only dangerous when being removed or damaged when asbestos dust is produced. My house had to be checked before my floor could be done. Thankfully that floor was okay but hesitant about doing another room. Interestingly is that Russia as of 2015 was a top producer (wikipedia )
Permanently closed YMCA site. Now in use by another community. Has GTTR been "used" to raise the property value? I guess this does not feel good to the volunteers having put their efforts into this project.
Just had an awful thought....when tornadoes hit communities, asbestos in any older buildings gets tossed about and ends up spread all over the area. I see the need to ramp up asbestos removal in ALL community buildings. Gonna check into this......
You mean it wasn't built for a herd of baby goats? I'm with you on this one and I'm not sure why humans refer to their young as kids not lambs, foals or calves for example. Is this only in the English speaking world or is there a commonly used animal/children equivalent in other languages?
It was built as a kitchen, so it's possible it had extra fireproofing. But if not, my understanding of asbestos is that it's safe as long as you don't disturb it, so presumably it'll be fine until they have to do any more building work.
Sugar rushes aren't actually real! It may seem that way because it's been said for years but it's actually a myth. I know a lot of parents may think they have seen the "effects" but the NIH has already concluded that sugar rushes just don't exist. This isn't to say that you should let your kids go ham with sweets, just a fun fact! Healthy eating habits are always important!

I love this show. People of all sorts and colors and creeds are working together for the common good, and they're having a great time doing it. THAT is what our country is, and should always be.
When you do it for the kids...YOU NEVER LOSE!!!
Only George can get a bunch of kids screaming with excitement over a kitchen .

legit my first thought was "They should check the whole building"

What?? When they said they were gonna load up for the YMCA, i thought LOAD UP! Yay!! What the hell was that?
Glad I'm not the only one who thought the same as you!
Well, they did have a small bag of nicely bruised apples from where they were throwing them about!
Fanuka is there wow as work together with Georgeso
Huh? So they installed a Wolf professional range to replace the Wolf professional range they never used?
Yayyyy Fanuka is here.......😆😆😆

George, these KIDS are CHILDREN

What about the asbestos in the rest of that big old building? The show can’t be expected to redo the entire building. So, who was responsible.
It was built as a kitchen, so it's possible it had extra fireproofing. But if not, my understanding of asbestos is that it's safe as long as you don't disturb it, so presumably it'll be fine until they have to do any more building work.
its cinderblocks and concrete. there no asbestos in that. asbestos was generally insulation and dry wall and cladding.
if there is asbestos in the kitchen ceiling, wouldn't be there all over the building???
1960's "yesteryear '? 😂

Why is healthy food so expensive and junk food so cheap ? They wonder why our country has a lot of obese children/adults !
Wonder how many of those kids will actually eat bell peppers?! (Nice try tho, 'cause there's bound to be at least one!)
Kids love raw pepper also if you burn the skins off before adding to food they are also great xx
