*Spoiler Alert* John cheats the system by playing an enchantress deck with every enchantress staple in the format while everyone else builds around the restriction.... Guess who wins...
Strange definition of staples being removed when you still see command tower, lotus cobra in the ramp deck, open the vaults in the enchantment deck, orzhov advokist in the politics deck, and inspiring call in the counters deck...
You actually can choose to put Skullbriar in the command zone and keep its counters if it gets bounced, cause it’s a replacement effect for hand or library (hidden zones).
It is not a replacement effect actually. It goes to the zone it's supposed to and then you can choose to move to the command zone as a state based action.
@@Gwynn_Oda pretty sure that's only true for public zones, AKA graveyard and exile. Hand and library give the option for complete replacement instead. Do you really need to shuffle it into your deck, then go find it and put it into the command zone, then shuffle again?
Why does John play almost every single enchantress staple in a episode called 'staple remover'? I play the same commander and my deck looks almost the same. But respect to Jeremy correy and Stephen. They play cool decks. John shouldn't get a point because he do play all the staples.
the number of enchantresses itself is already a pretty good reason to target the archetype, if you have Sythis in the Command Zone yep, you need to be targeted, that card could be double the mana and still be strong
I don't really agree with how you defined "staples" for this game. Enchantress's Presence, for example, is in over 90% of Sythis decks. I understand you defined it as "Commander Staples" not specific decks staples, but as Jon Said toward the end, "This deck didn't really need any staples." And he's absolutely right. Just would've been even more interesting without "Deck Staples" is all. I do really like watching games played without all the generic good stuff, though, so it was still a really good game. 👍
Agreed, I was expecting them to be using none of the cards on their commanders' EDHREC pages or something. That would've been much cooler. This was basically just a normal game of commander.
15:38 when exiling off of cascade that is part of the trigger for cascade. You put the cascaded spell (Search for Tomorrow) on the stack, then finish the cascade trigger by putting the exiled cards on the bottom. Therefore when Search resolves you have access to the whole library included the cards that were exiled from the cascade trigger.
It would be cool to see this format expanded - remove the universal staples AND the specific staples unique to each commander. Really get down in the dregs!
If your commander moves to a hidden zone (one that is not visible to all players, such as your hand or library), you may choose to put it back into the command zone as a replacement effect. Had to post this cause I had a skullbriar the walking grave deck
Yes, if your commander would go to the graveyard or exile, it goes there first then you can choose to put it back in the command zone when state-based actions are next checked. If it would go to your hand or library as a replacement affect you can put it in the command zone instead, and it never actually touches the hand or library
I like the concept of this staples removing game but john only had staples in his deck. Also skullbriar should have kept his 11 counters as stephen could have replacement effect to put in command zone
Rivers rebuke should have bounced the truce enchantment since it was Jeremy's permanent... which he claimed seconds after the rebuke resolved 😂 edit: also Corey should have gained three life from primeval bounty and explore. explore doesn't put the land into play as resolution so the stack would have to be clear before he plays the land.
When you cascade into a ramp spell, you can search for the lands you cascade into. Cascade puts the spell on the stack and the cards on the bottom. Then you go back to the stack where the spell attempts to resolve.
I wish there were less commander game staples, especially in the enchantress deck. I believe auras entering from open the vaults could not enchant any creatures that entered at the same time so Jon's only creature that he enchanted was the only legal target on his board for Ethereal Armor.
@@danielderkson5331 Right, I feel the same, especially since I don't have the best knowledge of cards, so hearing the idea of who/why they are playing the decks the way they are.
For both Hideaway and Cascade, they can't work without ignoring timing restrictions, for casting. A land under hideaway is still restricted to main phase and 1 land per turn.
Steven and Corey are the kids in the backseat on a roadtrip that had way to much candy and Jeremy and John are the two parents in the front surviving off gastation coffee and Excedrin.
Promise of Loyalty would have been so good against Stephen's commander. Permanently vowed to not attack Jeremy unless moving zones changes what the game says the vow counter does.
23:08 I love how nobody notices that Terastodon blowing up 4 permanents instead of just 3. Jon destroyed 3 of his lands, and Jeremy destroyed his Sphere of Safety
I'm sure the production on these videos is crazy and I don't intend to give your talented editors more work. But if you could have text stating the names of everyone's commanders viewable on the overhead shots, it would make for a more pleasing viewing experience. Thank you for reading my comment, y'all are aces 🤙🏿🍻
The play Corey made @9:15 wouldn't work. When he plays the bounce land, both triggers go to the stack from it and lotus cobra, meaning he would have had to bounce either the breedingpool, mosswort bridge or the bounce land itself.
so 35 min in pretty sure making a copy of terrastidon should give Cory an Insect artifact creature with base power and toughness 0/1 and has indestructible, and no other abilities

Jeremy at 3:10 "Last week was a long episode"
Literally double the time as last week
That made me laugh a lot and i'm still in the intro
When John cast Open the Vault and drew 11 cards they should have seen all of them because of the Courser of Kruphix
Great episode. Only thing i disliked was Johns attidude. He was complaining the whole game while he was winning.
