Good video. A trick I would suggest is add a little baby or talcum powder to the inside of the tire before inserting the new tube, rotating the tire for full inside "coverage" and always inflate/deflate the new tube 3 or 4 times after installing the new tube and before installing the valve stem. This allows the tube to expand and contract freeley and helps prevent a crease in the tube that can lead to another failure. Nice use of the wheel on the frame to help remove the tire!
There is nothing I dread more than changing the inner tube on a wheelbarrow. Today a neighbor came over and offered to trim the trees and hedges on my land; nice gesture and some of them have nasty spines. I told him I would pick them up later and an indigenous laborer I employed went over the cut branches with a load of dirt and you can imagine the result. What used to take me 3-4 hours along with hammering back dents in the rim took me less than an hour thanks to your excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to shoot and post it.
@@Ted_Of_The_Overflow With age your strength isn't what ot was in your younger days. Before my dad wouldn't me get my drivers license intil I knew the basics of the car, checking oil ect. Living in a rural area he consider it was neccessary. He even had me change a tire, granted the spare is different than fixing a tire. But he watched me and when the task was completed he told me to put the tire back on the car that I had just taken. Spring clamp on the valve stem is golden! I've done super cheap patches on old tubes using just screwdrivers, and I've replaced the entire wheel/tire assembly. Amazingly, Amazon sells the entire assembly for only about $20. While I understand your time constraints, for twenty bucks I'm not going to mess around with replacing a tube.
Nice concise instructions, I've done 4wd tyres and wanted to see if there were any tricks to small rims. I like how you left it on the axle and spun it, and the clamp on the valve stem, great tip! Soapy water is great for getting tyres back on. Nice to other psycho cats out there.
Steps worked well for removing tire. Was a struggle with bike tire levers, but did eventually remove one side of tire so could remove tube. Tube was fine apart from one puncture. Have had this wheel barrow for over twenty years, so inner tubes do last. Used bicycle puncture repair kit to mend puncture. To find puncture put inner tube bit by bit in a basin of water till saw bubbles coming out.
Hey, best video out there on how to repair / replace wheelbarrow tire with tube. You got right to it without a bunch of mumble jumble and I was able to do it my first time using flat-heads, though not something I would want to do often. Thanks : D
Thank you so much for making this video! I bought a cheap wheelbarrow assembled it used it three times the tire went flat beer and a half ago. I dreaded having to find the right size inner tube and having to take it apart. But after watching your video I was able to complete the task in about 20 minutes. Your suggestion to use the tire irons is something I would recommend as it help move the process along very quickly.
that was awesome I am glad I got to see that video I had that same problem with my wheelbarrow I did not know how to fix It so I had a tire shop fix It of course they did a good job can tires on a dolly be fixed the same way
Oh thanks! I actually have to change a flat on my moms wheelbarrel and this info will come in handy. I hope I don't have to change the whole wheel because I checked my home depot and they are too expensive
Thank you for this video. I have had a flat on my wheel barrow for a very long time and wasn't sure if I could fix it. My old one had a solid tire. I wated you to know I have enjoyed your videos and have saved several to my gardening file. I just started watching and have gone back to the beginning to catch up. what an improvement your garden has made over the years. Even tho the post was long ago, I only saw it yesterday and thought I would comment on it today. You mentioned that your tomatoes in the front were sparse because of poor polination. You may not be interested, since you have so many other tomatoes in your back garden but my opinion is you don't have enough things flowering to draw bees to your front yard. everything is green except your tomatioes. Adding a couple of flowering shrubs like a butterfly bush or a few containers of zenias which are no work other than watering might be the thing to bring the bees around. The most helpful videos for me were your rain barrel set up, fencing around your raised beds (I too have raised beds) the greenhouse, the way you start your plants, (I too use square foot gardening) and the fertilizer you use as wel as dehydrating the tomatoes, peppers and herbs. Thanks again , enjoy watching them all, your garden is lovely.
nice, thanks for the tips. Seems hard to get back on even with big metal tire irons, that few people have (thanks for the link). I am amazed that you did not sand and grease the axel while it was open. Those things never get any love.
Thanks man for this video! I have the exact same wheel barrel and was wondering why my tire keep going flat after x amount of days. Time to get a inner tube and make that my first project of the spring. :-)

I've filled the tyres of all my mowers, compressors, washers etc etc with puncture foam so it is a rarity to get a puncture nowadays. Previously, the cheap, thin tyres on stuff would fall victim to thorns all the time. Thanks for the useful vido, even if I do know how!
I love Squeak, how he gets a bushy tail as he runs around, precious. Thanks for the tier repair, now for the handles...? I have the handles, on my current wheel barrow the handles measure 55 inches, had to get 60 inch handles, my question is do I leave the extra or do I cut off the extra? Any help in this would be great. TIA.
Good video. Will buy some tire irons to add to my tool collection. Wish someone would repair the tube instead of replacing it. I have a couple of tubes that have small holes and would find it cheaper likely to fix the holes.

Thank you! At 50 years old I have never changed a wheelbarrow tire. Perfect step by step instructions
Thank you. I did this endlessly as a kid on my bike. But haven’t done it in forever and this was a perfect refresher!

uumm, I didn't know that was possible.

No, give it a go, you can't break what's already broken, also soapy water helps the tyre go back on a lot easier

@@charlotteleiendecker2398 - The sidewall of the old tire has tire dimensions embossed on it.
Good idea taking the tyre off while it’s still attached to the wheelbarrow. Thanks for posting 👍
I enjoyed this video. Thanks for your help. The spring clamp holding the valve stem idea is genius.
I'll be glad to see your new gardening videos this next season. I'm goin to try your soup recipes this year.
