This would have been her finale at the end of her 2 hour concert. That tour was described by Elton John as having re-defined what rock concerts were like. It was a massive success and so in typical Kate Bush fashion she didn't do another series of live gigs for another 35 years. The live version of "James and the Cold Gun" from the tour is also well worth seeing.
This was the only tour Kate did. She said in an interview 14 years later that she did enjoy doing the tour but found it very overwhelming and didn’t enjoy [as a very private person] being so publicly exposed. She did surprise everyone when returning to the stage for a 22-night residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo theatre in 2014. All 75,000 tickets sold out within 15 minutes, with celebrities flying in from all over the world to see one or more of those shows.
Mistype with the year of this performance in your video title. This was performance art with Kate singing in character as the ghost of Catherine (Cathy) Earnshaw come back to haunt her lover Heathcliff. A great performance and unusually good picture quality for footage taken from that tour, benefitting from some 4K remastering. This was the final song she did at each concert so would have come after at least one hour and forty minutes of singing, dancing and several costume changes. And the prototype looking head mic was the first time one was used in this way during a concert. It was made from an old wire coat hanger opened up and bent into shape with a radio mic taped on to the end of it.
She did tour again but 35 years later in 2014. I was lucky enough to attend one of those concerts (a bit too young back in 1979). Best gig of my life and I've seen Pink Floyd and Queen. By the way, she was the first to use a head mic, her sound engineer invented it because she wanted to sing and dance without having to hold a mic. Glad you're back reacting to Kate! :)
I also was one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to Kate's 2014 concert residency, in 1979 I was a penniless student, so unfortunately didn't get the chance to her back then. However, the "Before The Dawn" concert in 2014, was simply incredible, once again Kate broke new ground just like she did in 1979.
I was so lucky to get a ticket in 2014. Seen a lot of concerts, shows, gigs but this was best thing I had ever seen on a stage. Her voice, everything was amazing.
I think the only other really good remastered tour footage on TH-cam from Kate’s tour is this doubleheader of ‘In Search Of Peter Pan’ and ‘Symphony In Blue’ th-cam.com/video/eoAv7QFrZ70/w-d-xo.html Other performances from that tour with less good picture quality but still worth seeing include ‘Wow’ th-cam.com/video/7UBiNYLizE8/w-d-xo.html and ‘James And The Cold Gun’ th-cam.com/video/6vE7hD1PgEs/w-d-xo.html
A true and beautiful artist. To make it complete a bit mysterious too. Something completely different; Smitty, why is it that the legendary Rammstein did not get on your Rock Radar yet? Maybe you know them to much. But if not try 'Ich tu dir weh' live in Madison Square Garden. Fine reaction.
I had only heard Duhast before but just reacted to your suggestion. If you haven’t caught it yet, go have a look. Hope you like it and thanks for the great request
@@WhatTheHellEverythingGermans were always accused of having no humor and engagement over here in Europe (the great war you know). Rammstein proves that this idea belongs to the past. They have the total package. Good reaction.

She is just so amazing it's ridiculous.
her coreography is amazing. the hand waving is perfect as an ending for a concert
timeless perfection
"Wuthering Heights" was usually the "wave good bye" song on this tour, so she had already the whole concert behind her!

Title: You've said it right, Manchester was in Spring 1979 ("Tour Of Life"), not 1974...

@@leslieturner8276 Yes, it was a residency rather than a tour. Am presently hoping for something new in the offing. Digits crossed!

Captivating Kate.
If you haven't please react to Kate's, "Moments of pleasure" (Perhaps someone can suggest it on Patreon?)
