    Really appreciate this video. I got into flipping/resale to build a retro game collection then slowly expanded from games and DVD to other items. I'm working my way up and it's thanks to people like you and retro Rick, and nes pursuit. Right now resale is something I'm doing for fun but working to expand. Thanks again.

    I use to sell things online here and there usually when I needed some extra cash for school and bills. I ended up getting scammed. I sold a iPad and they were going for 350 and up at the time, but I needed money for books the following week so I put it up for 200.. it sold after a few hours. I shipped it out the next day. I get a email a few days later from the buyer saying it arrived broken and he wanted his money back. I had him send it back and I even paid for the return shipping. I received it the following week and the screen was broken and it wouldn’t power on or charge. I know it wasn’t the one i sent him because the serial number was different.. I told him that wasn’t the one I sent him and I wasn’t giving him a refund. I ended up going back and forth with them for about a week until they stopped replying. I didn’t think much of it till I got a email from PayPal saying I got a complaint against me and they were doing an investigation.. PayPal ended up taking their side so i lost 200 dollars and a iPad. I was so mad.. ugh lol

      I am so sorry!! I wonder if maybe you had taken a picture of the serial number before sending it, then you could have proved that he was being the scammer. I hear they typically side with the customer unless theres a ton of proof. I'm so sorry that happened to you as well. 200$ is a LOT of money I dont care what anyone says.

    Thanks.
    Im a subscriber.
    Im not getting many views on my video games on ebay.
    Im not sure if im charging too much for shipping.
    I dont trust people so i get signature required on all my packages so i dont ever have to hear "i didnt get the package".
    Im doing usps first class mail for games $30 or less :
    First class 5.50, envelope 1.50, signature required 2.50 = 9.50 cost, so i charge $9.99.
    Im doing usps priority mail for games $31 or more :
    Priority mail 9.50, signature required 2.50 = 12 cost, so i charge $12.99.
    These are my costs.
    Should i not be getting signature required ? (I like security).
    Should i be taking a small loss and charge less for shipping ?
    Should i do FREE SHIPPING and raise the game price by $7-$10 to make up ?
    Also i think charging shipping would kind of prevent some sleazy buyers from returning things all the time because that puts them at risk of losing the initial Shipping and or half of the full refund if theyre returning for a fake reason.
    Thanks.
    Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.

While I'm not moving huge amounts, channels like you and Retro Rick have helped me to continue to have fun in this collecting space while basically breaking even and not using any of my personal income which I love! The key thing about the low dollar stuff is to not get TOO much of it. While it may not be extremely profitable to sell them exclusively, many good opportunities to buy some of the more profitable items only come if you buy some of the low dollar items too, so you have to make the most of them. If the low dollar stuff is "gravy", then you are in pretty good shape in terms of balance. Also I have seen you find opportunities to bundle the cheapos together to get a decent quality sale. Cheapos can also be good if you are trying to learn a new thing...I bought a trackball mouse for $4 and sold it for $11...not a ton of money but I just wanted to see what would happen. The time piece if key. You can't lose a lot of time on wasteful work.

    And a new law starting in January where if you sell $600 or more over a 12 month period you have to claim it And will receive 10-99 tax papers.. This includes ebay, paypal, etsy, facebook market..etc etc small businesses will die.

    • @noskpain2792
      @noskpain2792 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly corporations and big sellers will benefit from this law kicking out small business and sellers. Which will in turn only cause market control and raise resell prices

    • @projectauto7560
      @projectauto7560 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re a reseller who is making a profit you should’ve been paying taxes already before this even goes into effect. I’ve been reselling for 3 years (first 2 years part time) and I’ve paid taxes on my reselling business every year even though when I was doing it part time I didn’t reach the $20k threshold to receive a 1099. Everyone else should’ve been doing the same. The new tax law will likely cut out some competition because now that some resellers who haven’t been paying taxes like they were supposed to will now find that they make less money and it may not be worth it for them.

    Great advice. I would say, be careful with using the business to fund your collection. It can be very tempting to keep stuff that you find versus putting it back towards the business. If the funding of your collecting is more than what your putting back into the business, then you’re going to run out of money.

I used to flip video games and consoles in high school back in 2011 (some videos of my scores are even on my channel lol) and that was how I made money before getting my first real job. I would hit up nearly every city rummage I could over the summer and get as much video game items as possible. I still flip things now every once and a while when I see the opportunity. also remember this.
    if you have a popular youtube channel. people will tend to flock to your store to buy stuff.
    not a bad thing mind you. but it is like someone wanting to be an actor. you have to sell yourself almost as much as your product.

    We have pawn shops in my area but since the pandemic they are empty stores. Most survive solely on people making payments on loans( it’s sad actually my little brother manages a pawn shop. He says people pay the interest on loans for years never reclaiming the item just making sure they still keep it). Plus in Portland Oregon which my city is a suburb of. It’s common to get robbed outside since people assume you got money while you were inside. And after the protests they really did defund the police. So no one is coming to help. So I envy your pawn shops in Kentucky.

    I’ve got $10k in bank from selling on eBay and I can’t find anything to buy other than $4 DVDs at Goodwill.

    What would you say is the population in your area? like within a 50 mile radius? how often do you go to different states to source? ( Also I think it should be called farming but that's a rpg reference for gathering resources XD)

    Gotta be honest man, at first I selected the “see less” option on your videos.
    I’ve since subscribed after the algorithm recommended you once again; thus becoming a consistent viewer of your content.
    Great stuff man.
