Very Interesting Channel and studies, right up my street. As I comment on the other upload about feeding Coppens Top Koi. I have now take a delivery of a 15kg sack of Saki Balance. Which I will start feeding after I used the last couple of kgs of Coppens Top Koi. I basically want to just test the food, like you. But I fear the huge purchase price, even if it's found to be a superior feed.I have been doing a lot of research as late. And I've gone back over ten year on varies forums. And I have heard a number of times of a very little spoken about koi food from Orchard Fishes. I've tract down someone who years back used to use it and rated it very highly who knows her stuff. (teaches Animal nutrition etc) Just awaiting a reply. Will let you know if she still uses it! Thank you for the great uploads!
Ah thanks for commenting appreciate it. Glad it is of some value! I have also heard about this orchard fisheries food, read some topics on forums about it. I'll be interested and how you feel on the coppens vs the Saki. Like I said I'm thinking about setting up some controlled test for side by side comparisons.
Great vid with a real good explanation of what your doing 👍 saki food really expensive compared to other brands and if you're feeding twice as much then that's 2 bag's saki compared to one bag of another brand which would make it £360 saki I hope there's a big difference in growth looking forward to your updates 👍👍
Yeah exactly! As ever the law of diminishing returns kicks in as well, as the bigger the fish get the slower the growth regardless of what food is going in. It is What has got me thinking on the like for like comparison. Cheers for watching and commenting 👌
See im not the only one lookong to see how probites compares? Be looking at the Chlorella myself having heard great thing about its effects on the koi, colour, growth and health. Really enjoying your content 👍
Great talk though! Very much looking forward to the results in a few weeks, you have some cracking showa mate! I have been trying different foods over the last few years and I can't say I have been happy with any, water quality has always been a issue, I was on aqua source growth all last year and had good growth "great", but had brown tinted water. Going into winter and coming through until now been using aqua source all season with propolis the water is bang on no heavy waste. Anyway will carry on with this and see what the results are end of the year, cheers fella 👍
Glad you like it. Thanks for commenting. It's funny it's a hobby that there doesn't seem to be a wealth of accesible info on foods. You get alot of manufacture claims and ultimately passed on by those wanting to sell it, but im not sure you get the full picture. So I'm going to try and work it out!! I'll get there. Maybe the aqua source is one I'll add for a comparison test👍
@@OrchardKoi well I will some input into the brand mate, if you look up the ingredients which is white fish based which is what you want! instead of fish meal which can be any old crap, and poultry based foods catch up on the next one mate 👍
I'll add it to the list. What I'll do is once I'm closer to having enough test environment's up and running ill do a poll on the channel with all the options and let you guys decide what ones we do the control tests on.
Such a topic of debate food. Be really interesting if you could set up a real controlled test with food. Coppens osw mix or coppens wheat germ. I’m just trying Saki hikari after only ever feeding coppens. The volume of food I feed makes it impossible to feed the same amount of Saki but I’m going to look into possibly mixing the saki. Not sure yet.
Yes it is, and you seem to find different answers depending on where you look. The volume of saki being less based on the cost I assume? Yes defo I am going to do it , to do some side by side comparison on all aspects. I'm sorting some test environments at the moment. Bare with me while i get up and running, hopefully be worth it 👍
Just trying to keep some heat in. Obviously not the best, this tub will be redone soon with some proper insulation and better filtration. Similar to the newer ones😊👍
@@Shampal123 it will retain some heat but not much. Better off using a proper rated insulation wrap like I have on my ibc build , that retained its temperature very well throughout winter being heated.
So I'm still using it on a separate grow on now and I'll be hammering that until the spring , thats when I'll do a full video on just the saki. I did a measure up of the fish that had this growing season on it and socissed some of what I noticed, you'll find that here. th-cam.com/video/dC6qU4hQA8Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=V1iwM6Y1jFJIXalH 😊👍
@Gobrian44 ita hard tonsay on the beni, baring in mind I'm only using growth, and I'm in doors so no uv light, but for example my doitsu showa held very strong pigment on its head. Their colours certainly are ofna good level given no colour focus and lack of natural light. Hopefully I'll be able to give you a better idea with the current grow on lot in the new year
