    Agree 100%, and once you go up to the 15kg bags of saki balance,

    Couldn’t agree more Ricky, was having issues with beni not being where I wanted it to be on the isa showa and shinoda hi utsuri I am growing on. I’ve always been a sceptic but bit the bullet and moved to growth and colour. No shit 3 weeks in and the deep Hiban that is now visibly moving through the Hi plates of all of the fish is incredible to watch and I’d now spend the money regardless! A few extra bob compared to the lost money and heartbreak of a seasons fish turning to trash is a no brainer to me

    I noticed some koi food are a lot lighter for the volume
    5 liter tub vs that's weights 1.5 kilos

    My opinion here is that this price difference really comes into play more in the bulk bags of some foods in particular. You can’t really compare a 250g food to a 2kg food on price per kilo. Even if Ricky doesn’t particularly rate aqua source food, most who use it do think it is a decent food and a 10kg bag is less than £80 for the growth when saki growth is the same or more for the 5kg bag. This is the difference to me and it isn’t really affordable for most to pay the same for half of the food, regardless of the potential outcome. Just my thoughts

    • @KoiWholesale
      @KoiWholesale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The whole point of the exercise was to highlight prices per kilo and bring consumer awareness to what they are actually paying. In your comment you compare the costs of different size bags which is exactly what I’m advising not to do as it’s never a fair comparison.

    • @pondcast7613
      @pondcast7613 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand what you’re doing and I appreciate that there is a big market in the smaller packs where a comparison is valid, at the same time though my point here was what you get for the same money not particularly focusing on the size of bag. In my example though price per kilo is £8 for the AS and £16 for SH if comparing the growth foods. Would you say that to the average person who doesn’t have show koi in their pond that it’s worth paying 100% more for saki hikari food?

    Good honest video but comparing Saki with a £5 tub of goldfish food is a bit cheeky. For example, no koi keeper would buy the £5 tub. £5 tub is clearly marketed to those with very small ponds and a few goldfish and last them ages, so never in the market for caning £160 on 15kg of Saki. If Nijikawa was available in the UK it would compete and maybe overtake Saki. I'd like to know also what is the mark up of these feeds as they're with out doubt having koi keepers pants down. Open to being proven wrong on that.

    • @madmikesworld5713

      @KoiWholesale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are koi keepers of all levels and I know from first hand experience how many people with koi would start out buying these small tubs of food. The whole point of the video is just to raise awareness of a different way of looking at how food is priced in order to get the best value.
      I’ve never used nijikawa but it would have to some something truly special to even match Saki Hikari.
