My grandma and aunt saw him in concert in the early 1980s and came back with stories of him kissing women and panties and bras thrown on stage! He is 82 and my husband and I just saw him on his last show in San Francisco about 3 weeks ago. He walked onto the stage with the presence of the Knight he is and sat on a tall chair (explaining he would rather finish his US tour than cancel, postponing impending hip surgery , but promising to tour again so he could dance 100% for us) and he sang BRILLIANTLY for 2 hours straight with his incredible live band. He was engaging with the entire venue and I don’t even know how his voice improves with age! The energy of the concert was as much as “”The Scorpions” I saw the following week-a total thrill! And yes, women Still threw panties on the stage❤ If anyone in SF was offended, I didn’t see a protest😂Coming from a Native SFer.

Many thew their panties his way also he's very famous for it. He also has fans of all ages, to this day. Elvis did similar stuff. And incidentally they were actually good buddies back in the day. Harmless fun nothing like some do today and over recent years.
I am 68 years old and my mom loved Tam Joes.
My mother was a fan. He has a reputation for being faithfully married for decades and too this day.
He was married for nearly 60 years, until his wife's death a few years ago. "Faithfully" is probably not the most apt adjective. "Lovingly" would seem to be a more appropriate choice.
He was always unfaithful to his wife. She died in 2016. He also has a son by a model that he met back in the 80's. Tom's never met him, and has said he has no interest in meeting him. The son is homeless. He has been trying to meet his dad all his life, but Tom wont even speak to him. I dont know how a man could live with himself, being a dead beat dad.
We look at things in the past and it blows our minds about what they did back then, but just remember, the next generation that is coming up is going to say the exact same thing about everyone today. We will all become the next "older" generation in the future, lol.
He was known for this back in the day and nothing wrong with it at all just good fun , if this offends you then stop watching these videos .

He was in his fifties then. I was SO upset when we entered the theater and I saw some women holding a single long stem rose.

Seriously ? Take a step back and recognise that the times were different. He was an entertainer performing within the bounds of what people expected at the time. We may look back and question the standards of society of then compared to now, that is ok. But to dismiss this guy's singing ? I hope you check out more of his stuff because he has an incredible voice

I agree with you, that it was in bad taste back then as it should be in any society, but it was all innocent fun, and exciting for housewives to get out and have a star notice you. Even men felt special when a star, athlete, or politician shook their hand. Nowadays, there's less status attached to positions, probably because so many children are raised now to see themselves as special for no reason other than a doting Mom, I don't know. Try not to be so judgmental. This was before HIV put a stop to casual pecks on the cheek and dancing wildly was still new. 60s music was ckean because of censors. But it was the time of s3xual revolution and Free love. Aids STDS and personal boundaries changed that behaviour in the 80s. Music in 2024 can be incredibly graphic and explicit due tio less censorship and more platformst to play or perform your music but people are less free due to what happened in the 80s and recently pandemic . So not sure why the lady is getting upset about a time pre AIDs and pre pandemic. Her argument is pointless as it is factual that todays msuic is far more explicit than it has ever been and also factual that in the 60s people were s3xually hedonistic. Both things are true. so if someone says music is dirtier now - you just say yes it is. Not you were a hippy in the 60s so you cant talk. The argment is about music being explicit not the general behaviour of GENZ's who areno way as s3xualy open as the hippies from the 60s/70s
Don't understand the lady's reaction. I thought the video was great. The guy can sing and dance compare to entertainers today that just degrade women in their songs that they talk the lyrics out, but can't sing. Today's grandmas can tell you some stories if they have the guts to tell the stories.
Today’s music is easily disgusting
Lady is really naive - as Tom's generation were the baby boomers - they gave us very hedonistic movement trends like Hippies, Free love and sexual revolution. So I am not sure what she expected looking back at the sixties. As for expecting Tom to be like Frank Sinatra - Frank Sinatra was a different generation - 30 years before Tom. And the suit wearing was because the older generation at the time thought it was respectable and put everyone they could in them. Music today is dirtier because it is more graphic but in the past people just used inneundo and imagination . Tom was banned from the BBC for a few years because some women rather like this lady found him too graphic. So she has more on common with people born in the 1920s than the Baby Boomers. The sixties had to be the horniest time in modern history but the music because of censors had to be somewhat clean but the lyrics of today ar incredibly xplicit without a doubt but people are less free with partners due to STDs, AIDS and sexu7aol boundaries which changed how people interacted after the 80s. So yes people in the 60s could act like this and yes today's music can be filthy - both premises are true!
I think you will find there is probably more music from your grandmother's generation that is morally questionable than today. Remember that grandparents were young once, just like you
