5.7x28 is an interesting cartridge. Very capable in pistol and carbine configuration. If I lived in the US I would definitely own a firearm that uses it.
I’m a huge fan of iv8888 but I wouldn’t buy range time with them or any TH-camr. If they are decent people they would come let you shoot with them for free as long as bring your own Ammo (no range mooch) And the only thing it should cost is your time.
K B I got ya for sure, one problem I'm in UK so the whole trip would be 2 to 3k alone in travel and stay can't bring ammo on plane lol they might be a bit grouchy lol
Harvey baker They have info available on how much they cost. Its $4,000 for them to do a positive review of your weapon. Thats the only info i memorized. Ill try to find a link for you.
B real, I’m not sure I can comment on all that. Even if what you say is true I still enjoy watching the channel, it lets me see firearms that I would normally never get to, or things that nobody else would do with them like the melt downs. Plus it gets others involved as well, I can’t imagine how many people have been brought into sport, hobby, skill set or whatever you would like to call it because of the channel. If they really are getting paid by other companies I don’t think I would mind very much, just as long as they would state it and not pass off a review as unbiased or what have you. A simple, “ hey guys today we are being sponsored by company X, this is their new rifle, these are the features, let’s shoot it and we can give you an opinion about it.” People make money in many different ways and this by far is not one that we should argue about, fraud, waste, and abuse are 3 right off the top of my head that should probably focused more on in my opinion. But thank you for sharpening yours.
Hey Guys, absolutely LOVE your videos, they're a breath of fresh air!! Here in the UK, the government is in the process of banning .50 cal rifles and MARS rifles (Manually Activated Release System). It's the only way we get around having a "semi-auto" weapon above .22 calibre! (see Sothern Gun Company). Dark days ahead for UK shooters, but we are fighting it tooth and nail! Watching Eric and Chad makes me wish I had a different birthright!! I've been shooting since I was 14 and I am now 68!! Seen alot of changes, with more to come!!
The greater velocity and rang of a long barrel as in your carbine is why I'm keeping the long OEM barrel on my FM PS90. It is a semi-auto "sub gun" that has DISTANCE, as in easily out to 200 yards with lethality. CMMG is a true friend of the 5.7 x 28 cartridge and now RUGER has helped its popularity with the introduction of the excellent "57" pistol. Mind is STILL on order!! Aaaaaarrrggghhh!
Its great that the 5.7 is coming back. This year I have been told you couldn't get your hands on any thing 9mm 10mm 45 so it's good to have more options
Run the right ammo with a can and about all you can hear is the action working. I really like that burnt bronze, and that five seven is a wicked little round. Good shootin' Tex. And good video.
VERY COOL! This is just what I was looking for in a small platform. I’d thought of the Guard 45 for its compact size, but 13 round mags aren’t spectacular, and the Kriss mags are good but scarce and look a little awkward. With 20 rounds it’s just enough, low recoil. This just shot to the top of my list - great backup gun and maneuverable for my wife to shoot. Hope it spurs innovation in 5.7 ammo!!!
I can wipe out a groundhog colony that is sinking the barn...what a Truck/Tractor Gun for coyotes and groundhogs here on the farm. Love that neat little Caliber
Eric I didn’t know you didn’t work at Moss anymore then again that’s nobodies business but hope the part was respectable and such. Keep the tube vids coming brother and we will keep enjoying them! We are working on a building container shooting range on some land here in central Florida. It’ll be a tall boy 8.6’x40’x9.6’ with a hella lot of acoustic tile as it’s a steel walled sum B. Never seen it done before but at 1,500$ a container I’m looking at maybe $2000 total for on sight shooting with two lanes. Why not just shoot outside? Well the counties here state you need property with neighbors homes being at least 450 yards away which is easy, right ? Just buy a few acres. Got the acreage but there’s a sound ordnance that allows the police to harrass you if neighbors call more than 1xs . We thought suppressors then until I thought how much cheaper it is to use a container. Maybe bury it for extra measureand cut the back wall out so the earth can catch bullets. Whatcha think guys?
The AR-57's have been around for a long time and they take P90 magazines. Same AR ergos and configurations, difference is the ejection port is the mag well. This is a great pairing for the Five Seven pistol magazines, but the Masterpiece Arms in 5.7 has been around for a while too and takes the same magazine. Granted, I think I'd take an AR style over that myself. As for the debate in power.... no .22 WMR will produce the same ballistic in a handgun that the 5.7x28mm does in a handgun. When you go to SBR territory or carbine lengths, the 5.7 is still leaps ahead on velocity and power. Considering a 5.728mm from a handgun tends to have about the same velocity most .22 WMR does out of a rifle AND roughly the same energy, I dont think there's a comparison. If anything it's closer to .22 Hornet.
I don' think an AR platform 5.7 would accept a P90 magazine. The P90 mag is designed to stack and rotate the round 90 degrees to line up with the barrel. The AR platform feeds ammo into the receiver already in line with the barrel. Am I unaware of something?
@@robertzeurunkl8401 The AR57 is a custom made AR upper in 5.7 feeding from P90 magazines, using the magazine well as the ejection port. The magazine goes on the top, as the top of the hand guard.
@@SigneOtter But that's not what we have here. They are loading from AR style mags in the AR magwell. There's no top mounted magazine here, and the magazine they are showing is not a P90 magazine. Am I missing something?
I want one so bad! I was a big Call of Duty fan back in the day, and in Black Ops II they had a DLC weapon called the "PeaceKeeper" and if you looked at it closely it was an AR type weapon that said "5.7x28mm" and since then I always wanted an AR type weapon firing 5.7. This gun is 17 year old mes dream rifle.
I think the .224 Valkyrie is the same size as the 5.7....so to me there is a push/market to make the 5.7 and the .224 more of a common caliber. One bullet that fits into different casings....a nice play on logistics if you ask me.
Somewhat similar to the .22 TCM. A more compact round though. RIA has their 1911 wide body in a convertible .22 TCM/9mm that is quite reasonably priced.
I´d take an AR57 over this any day. Feeds from P90 mags, 50 rounds of capacity and still has all the advantages of an AR-15 platform. But this would be an option if you really want a "Pistol AR" that cheats around the SBR requirements and works like a PDW.
DarkestVampire92 ar57 malfunctions a shit ton my buddy’s has one and has at least 1 or more malfunctions a mag and if I’m being honest the ar57 is the ugliest looking thing ever as there’s always gunna be that empty magwell and a entire chunk is taken off of the top of the hand guard
I'm not trying to be an ass, BUT, I love how some of the gun guys will boast about not needing upgrades in order to shoot well ("You don't need a better trigger, you need to train more."), then when their guard is down, you hear them say exactly what Chad said in this video (This doesn't even have a Geissele trigger...it's just mil-spec...imagine how much better it could shoot with a Geissele!). No, you don't need better triggers for most shooting, but it does make it more enjoyable and it does enable more accurate and consistent shots, I don't care what anyone says to the contrary.
Don't give up your rights. There was just a mass shooting in Toronto with an illegally obtained handgun, so the city council passed a handgun and ammo ban. The federal government in Canada is also pushing for a national handgun ban.
I'm wanting one in just plain black , ill check after the 1st of the year sometime, to see if I can get 1 ordered in . I have a 5.56 x 45 same size as I want, carry it in my 4wheeler
Just don't see the point of existence for this firearm. 5.7 exists to make a high capacity carbine in as compact a size as possible. You've lost the capacity, have a shorter barrel for a larger firearm, and this same setup in 5.56 does everything better except noise and flash.
hbomatt to make money, duh....I agree for firepower there's better cartridges, nose control better sub sonic, and in a non bullpup?.. is all $ not to improve capabilities
hbomatt agree with you. why would you put that in a rifle if the market already has a compact bullpup PDW and a submachine gun that already fills the role??? We have the P90, the MP7 and later we will have a Singaporean submachine gun that uses both 5.7x28 and 4.6x30
Shooting speed from aftermarket triggers is the only major difference I can think of that gives this platform an edge. PS90 trigger is not conducive to fast and efficient firing.
Sorry, I would rather have an AR57 if I want to shoot 5.7. I hope someone acquires it. 50 round mags are the best mags. Now with pistol braces and the AR57 pistol upper, I think it's time has come and no one is producing it. I wondered if shooting the AR57 would be hearing safe as it ejects down? It is full ambi. Did I say 50 round mags?
Hey Guys! could y'all bring a pocket laser to paint the targets that you shoot at for those of us that cant tell what you,re shooting at?For the longer shots.
The Five7 is a cool idea, but I'm sitting here asking myself, why? As a pistol cartridge it makes some sense just for the capacity, but for the velocity, lack of terminal ballistics, and minimal projectile weight I am just not sold on it's use outside of a special mil/LEO unit. There are just too many other better options that can double as hunting and personal defense. Now, if I win the lotto - all bets are off!
Those that think the 5.56 will do all if not better than the 5.7 is simply missing the concept of this gun. Every gun has it's pro's and con's and this 5.7 is sweet.
This might be a stupid question, but if I were to completely take this thing down and rebuild it, would it be possible to throw an A2 sight, delta ring, and CAR handguards on it? I kinda want a Fallout New Vegas "assault carbine" in 5.7
Hey guys! Would be thrilled to see y'all do a review of the Alexander Arms. 50 Beowulf. I'm curious to hear your take on a close to mid range .50 cal AR.
Man about four years ago I spent $1400 on the FN 5.7 and thought I was the man. Secret service uses it so why shouldn’t I ? Well it’s over priced and the ammo is expensive as they come. I found myself rationing my bullets which sucks. 2200 ft per sec is fast but not as fast as the .223 but twice as fast as the 9mm round so it falls in the middle. I’ve punched holes in level 3 armor which shouldn’t happen but it does depending on the type of plate. FN expensive to buy and use. The AR version looks cool though.
I cried a little at 4:46 when he mentions the price. $16 for 50?? Damn! We had it soooo good back then!! :(
How terrific that a gun company is being innovative to give enthusiasts more choices.
5.7x28 is an interesting cartridge. Very capable in pistol and carbine configuration. If I lived in the US I would definitely own a firearm that uses it.
man CMMG did a good job timing all the youtuber's to release these videos at the same time
As someone with a Five-seveN and a 30 rd pro mag, ive found that you can’t load it past 25-27 because it just won’t feed.
*FN Five Seven meets FN 5.7 carbine! FN awesome!!!!*

An M1 carbine in 5.7 would make me smile.

OR a M2 carbine? double smile, ??
KRN762 that already basically exists, look up the Johnson Spitfire Carbine.

I love that 5.7x28. So sweet in the sub 300 meter range.

Guns cost money. If I wanted to kill something 300 meters from me for cheap I would chase it with a rock...

Funny about the scope mount. You can see it @4:40. We’ve all done silly things - I’m glad you decided to keep the footage of it all. Good video!
Something about iv8888 videos make me feel comfy. It's weird.
traditionalist man like watching Bob Ross paint!
traditionalist man Probably the implicit racism and white privilege
tseawell90 lol you reckon that's it do ya.
Tseawell thats hella lame...
It’s Eric’s Southern hospitality.
Imagine the potential, a powerful cartridge and small high capacity mags. What a cool gun!!!!

It's the 30rd promag. Apparently if you use the extension on FN mags with a spring modification, you get reliability in the 30rd configuration.

Me: 😫
Zachary Thomas please do
There is no good reason to want this gun.
My wife is much louder than my wallet.
Matthew Smith story of my life
Totally feel your pain!
The AR57 is the way to go. 50 rounds with standard P90 mags.
MsBowhunter95

Something like a Kel-Tec RDB in 5.7 could be real P90 killer. Short, but still 16in barrel length, same or better ballistics.
Stefan Gruber Keltec CMR-30 is what you seek.
Would be a great choice for training new shooters and a excellent choice for bank personnel
Im hoping ruger comes out with a carbine for their 57,i would love 1 to go with my ruger 57
Great job on the video and thanks for the content today.
Duct tape parts is a must! I'd love to see what parts are not critical. That's be super interesting. Great idea, great vids as always

Also deeply unreliable, sadly.
5.7 x 28 = AWESUM POSSUM + WICKED SLICK= Wicked FN Possum!!
Never mind he tightened it up
aw I love my ps90 five-seven pair... and the 50 round mags... but being able to use the same mags for both the carbine and pistol is so appealing.
I liked that Kriss vector 40 cal...two shot bursts.
“I feel like a scientist shooting a baby seal with a dart gun”
You guys should check out a 1911 in .22 TCM....always wondered how that round performed.
Immediately added to my gun wishlist!
Is that after-shot click the trigger resetting? That would get annoying as hell real quick.
For people not wanting .223 rem. 40 grn 5.7X 28mm. Personal defense weapon for in car. Carbon 15 pistol can be used. In 223. Or 5.56X 45mm.
A Red Green (duct tape being the handyman's secret weapon) sounds like a great video idea.
It would be awesome to see one in 9x25 Dillon with a law folding stock adapter.
I want a 9X25 Dillion M1 to be made.
Eric once again great video! By far you guys are my favorite youtubers
Well this was completely unexpected!
CAN YOU PLEASE DO A MELTDOWN VIDEO ON A Century Arms N-PAP 762X39.
great video
Why does Chad appear to hold down on the optic... Anything to do with the acog lighting... I will ask them if you ever drop stuff off your dock
I´d take an AR57 over this any day. Feeds from P90 mags, 50 rounds of capacity and still has all the advantages of an AR-15 platform.
But this would be an option if you really want a "Pistol AR" that cheats around the SBR requirements and works like a PDW.
A BB gun scares libtards and oh wait, the word libtards scares libtards too.
The world is just scary to libtards.
DarkestVampire92 I agree. 50 round mag is sexy a hell.

I think its perfect for the go to truck gun. When you need range and stopping power
I kind of like the Ar 57 design a lot more. It more unique.
It's good to see Chad back! I thought he dropped off the channel or something.

I had a regular five seven pistol shot great loved it, unfortunately I traded it for a AR but it's a good shooter.
I think the accuracy with the loose scope says more about Eric as a shooter rather than the gun/scope.
Great vid!. (Your use of metaphors & similes definitely add to the commentary)
love to see how 57 is for hunting
You again...
I been eyeballing the dissent. Mk57.
And mmm that 20th anniversary cerakote, they got right now ...
I always thought the perfect pair of a FN 5.7 was the FN PS90... My life is a lie
Crosshair TV true now you can even use the same mag and ar ergobamics
It would be cool if they made a Guard in .30 Carbine
Just don't see the point of existence for this firearm. 5.7 exists to make a high capacity carbine in as compact a size as possible. You've lost the capacity, have a shorter barrel for a larger firearm, and this same setup in 5.56 does everything better except noise and flash.
yeah it's inferior to the AR57 which is a blowback-operated version of the AR-15 but it takes P90 magazines
hbomatt to make money, duh....I agree for firepower there's better cartridges, nose control better sub sonic, and in a non bullpup?.. is all $ not to improve capabilities
100% agree. Only use of such a cartridge is in PDW role, that a full auto p90 or mp7 fills.
hbomatt agree with you. why would you put that in a rifle if the market already has a compact bullpup PDW and a submachine gun that already fills the role??? We have the P90, the MP7 and later we will have a Singaporean submachine gun that uses both 5.7x28 and 4.6x30
Shooting speed from aftermarket triggers is the only major difference I can think of that gives this platform an edge. PS90 trigger is not conducive to fast and efficient firing.
A meltdown of the 5.7 caliber AR would be great whether it’s this one or the actual AR-57
Good stuff. I always thought an AR57 upper on an AR pistol would be a fun little gun.
My new favorite carbine by far. Unless someone make a nice 357 Sig carbine.

That was a nice richochet at the beginning.
I wish some one would make a Semi-Automatic 22tcm carbide because I prefer the tcm over the 5.7 but that’s just me.
About damn time.
YES! I was just thinking about getting the five seven the other week.
The duct tape ideal is great! Looking forward to this episode!!
Do they have bigger mags for that 5.7 rifle or only the pistol mags for the five seven pistol?
I like the 5.7 pistol/carbine setup!
Sense the 5.7x28 was made for soft body armor, have you thought about doing some body armor testing with this gun?
Hey Guys! could y'all bring a pocket laser to paint the targets that you shoot at for those of us that cant tell what you,re shooting at?For the longer shots.
Awesome maybe someday we can get a 357 Mag AR PISTOL / Chad / Eric any spots left for your event in Oct? If so please dm me on Twitter
theTIVANshow a 10mm ar pistol with a 9x25 Dillon barrel would be just about equal to a .357 magnum carbine.
I've always wished A 357mag sbr or pcc set-up would be finally made.
Which is prefer a pistol or carbine version?
Those that think the 5.56 will do all if not better than the 5.7 is simply missing the concept of this gun. Every gun has it's pro's and con's and this 5.7 is sweet.
wow! the trigger reset is soooooo audible.. Did I really hear that CLUCK! ? was that the reset?
This might be a stupid question, but if I were to completely take this thing down and rebuild it, would it be possible to throw an A2 sight, delta ring, and CAR handguards on it? I kinda want a Fallout New Vegas "assault carbine" in 5.7
Eric I would love to see that same set-up in 357.sig or maybe in a 17in carbine
Do you think it could take down a whitetail clean?
So, is the lower receiver supposed be converted to use FiveseveN mags or can any AR15 lower receiver work? Kinda interested.
