Hey guys I want to clarify something that got lost in translation on my part. The bolt tuning kit wasn’t included with the gun when I got it, and the gun ships with 1 magazine. Sometimes it’s easy to throw a bunch of crap in the truck and go to the range and miss little details. A few of you who have bought these already brought this to my attention to clarify so I wanted to pass it along. Thanks!
Iraqveteran8888 just pointing out i bet they use 1/2X36 for the same reason palmeto state uses it so someone cant put a .556 break or can on it by mistake and blow their gun up
Startling Alternate. FX9 $599 Runs everything I put through it. reloads, steel case, polymer coated, lead free alloy, hollow point, new production. Works with every mag I have tried, glock factory, SGM, magpul, SHK, RDS. Regular AR threads also
140 dBA impulse noise is for one occurance. Not hearing safe. For continuous noise, 0.5 seconds at 140 dBA in one day is the OSHA threshold for hearing loss. OSHA has a 5 dB doubling rate: 8 hours at 90 dBA, 4 hours at 95, 2 hours at 100, etc. Always use hearing protection above 85 dBA. Nice gun.
By those calculations, you would need to be exposed to the full sound impulse for 0:28 at 140dB to cause any damage. The majority of the ammo were were using was down in the low 130dBs where you'd need to be exposed for a time of 0:56-1:53 to cause damage. Even by adding all the total time of all impulses from this video would likely not reach these time limitations being that the SPLs are measured in microseconds after all. Chad
My PSA AR9 lower was purchased for 199.99, I tossed the CAR stock and installed a KAK tube and Shockwave Blade combo for 59.00 , Purchased a complete PSA upper on sale for 359.00 this past labor day. Total cost $630 and it shoots everything I feed it. I like the rotating bolt head but its not worth a %100 percent price increase.
So I've got 2 video ideas I'd love to see. 1. Smaller/Concealable/Portable firearms for those 18-20 who can buy and own long guns but cannot get a CCW lisence or buy handguns. For example I use the Kel-Tec sub 2000 and am considering the Shockwave. 2. A lowest common denominator guns video. Guns you can carry in a vehicle in every state or almost every state. I travel alot including California and it would be cool to see weapons like lever actions and such that are recommend for putting in the truck for a road trip or for OTR truckers ect. Thanks guys love the content and keep up the great work
I built a QC10 9mm rifle. 16in barrel, 1.5x16 trijicon, brigand arms hand rail...just waiting for geissele to finish their SSP trigger and somewhere down the road suppress it. But love it!! Dead accurate up close and able to hit steel out to 300
If every gun >=$1300 warrants a Geissele, they need to start making triggers for a lot more firearms, including and especially your eponym. Imagine a semi-auto M2 with the equivalent of an S3G-4lbs on the spade grip paddle, boom, short reset, then 4lbs again, boom... Almost as good as full auto, for a lot less money.
Got one, so far runs everything I've put through it (including a bunch of different defense ammo) . Zero failures, and runs like a rapped ape.. well worth the $$$!!! Just say'n..
Was Just watching your What's your life worth?" gun gripe (i'm a few months behind at the moment) but Chad mentioned that in your safes you both have dedicated fun guns but then you have the dedicated guns you would defend your life and family with. I would LOVE to see a side by side comparison of the standards you have or don't have for these respective categories. Been watching you guys for years! Keep up the awesome work!!
I just ordered a 2022 model banshee MK17 I can't wait. It's expensive but when you compare it to any other delayed blowback system it is cheap and the other high end options are Sig stuff that is 2k
I've said this before, on multiple channels...if you stagger ammo types in the mags when using steel case, with a ratio of one aluminum/zinc round to 3 steel case, you will realize reliable feeding. All steel case rounds have this issue with glock mags, especially aftermarket glock mags.
I have Guard 45. I had to send it back to the factory 2 times and then they had to send me a bolt tuning kit before I could get the gun to feed reliably. It runs fine now, but if I had it to do it again I wouldn't buy it. That said, it is now a fun gun to shoot and is very accurate. It is VERY picky in terms of ammo, so be ready for that too.
I've built a budget AR-9 that runs just as well for about $800. If I dumped about $250 more into it it would be on par or better than this rig. I did use a great Cmmg barrel, though, they're a great company. Great video as always, guys.
Leave and go where? I'm stating a fact. Does not mean I don't agree with it, Its business. It's up to YOU if the gun is worth it or not. To say company's aren't paying TH-cam channels to review their product is false. Now I'll shut up and go take a shit. Let me know if that's ok sir.
I wish youd rolled in a picture of the Winchester cartridge next to a round that is proper length to illustrate how something as small as half a millimeter difference can cause feeding issues.
"Don't be afraid to beat on your stuff, guys....." OK, I'll keep that in mind. Honestly, the ammunition issue would scare me away from this gun. It's probably not going to run cheap 9mm very well. Dr. Thunder and Mnt. Lightening: preferred sodas of Iraqveteran8888
That's an odd difference between Georgia state gun laws and gun laws in Canada - in Canada, with our standard RPAL license, we can buy any short-barreled rifle. And with a general PAL license we can buy any short-barrelled shotgun (although only if sold like that - we cannot cut a barrel).
Been following you guys for a few months now... new to a stand your ground state, and I'm learning so much.. the top 5 edc carry something I'd been hoping to see.. great job A+++
I noticed you guys running a handful of different mags through this guard. I bought a 5pack of 33rd KCI mags but they aren’t holding the bolt back on the last round? Do you think it could be the magazine follower? The gun is feeding all my ammunition fine, including federal HST 147grain JHP. Thought that would be worth mentioning since I think you were having trouble with the hollow points you had when filming this video. Love your videos btw!
Another good video, thanks for posting it. Shooting steel is cool and all, but all that pinging detracts from hearing just the gun cycle/shoot sometimes, not as bad when the targets are 100m+ away. Chad did do a few in the dirt which was nice as well as the occasional miss. Keep up the videos guys!
I had a just right carbine 9mm for 799.99 with scope and laser/ light grip was 1000.00 and was carbon fiber panted only problem I had was it didn't like dirty ammo and don't think they make the model that I had any more and it had a treaded barrel and u could make it for a left hand shooter by changing the plate over and bolt handle
CMMG does things I like. Mutant was nice. Anvil was nice. This thing is nice. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel, just smooth out the ride. The price is high; they should work on that next.
CMMG has a 3 month waiting list on the radial delay blowback 9mm upper set ! Any other options out there today? I also seen that PMag insert conversion from .556 to 9mm any input on that? Thanks!
So for $1300: - You have to tune it with with parts that aren't included ($25) in order for it to function. - Seems to be finicky with ammo. - No sights - Mil spec trigger - Wierd thread pitch that you will need to buy an adapter for. - It's $1300 - Only comes with 1 mag - MLOK +$25 For $1300 you could get: CZ Scorpion Evo pistol Brace it (Shock wave setup) 5 spare 30 round mags Uplula mag loader 500 rounds 9mm Pretty good soft case This will differ depending on where you get the gun and what you actually decide to get but I think I've made my point. Seems to be an overpriced and finnicky boutique gun that very few will buy. If this scratches the ar itch and you don't mind getting very little value for $1300 then I say rock on. However call me crazy but something tells me this thing will end up being a commercial failure. For good reason.
The Guards are worth every penny to me. They'll take any trigger group and they suppress like no other. By far the quietest 9mm PCC I've shot. Guys, don't waste your money on an FX9 or any other direct blowback PCC, if you plan on suppressing.
I have a life philosophy: gather as much information you can on anything, especially if it's readily available. Here are my two rules that I always follow when I get any sort of equipment: "Always read the ****ing manual. Read the ****ing text. RTFM, RTFT" two very important things to do.
Holy Crap! I knew I heard something familiar the other day while walking out to my Jeep. I'm now realizing that I was hearing that trigger reset from up here in PA. Haha
The MP5 is even more expensive. I haven't found one for less than $1500. The CMMG Guard however I found it for less than $1000. Thanks for sharing your experience by the way.
For a 9mm I'd go with 995 yup hipoint.. fully dressed with sights, scope, laser, flashlight, hi cap mags, and reliable no matter ammo for 700, 300 for new basic that works
I reached out about the threading, CMMG's response: "Unfortunately, we do not plan on doing that. while ½-28 might be more popular on actual pistols, ½-36 is the standard (and recommended) thread pitch on a pistol caliber carbine rifle/AR style pistol chambered in 9mm."
From my point of view the most respectable weapons are the ones that performe great but are still simple and in that case also cheap Because that makes a challenge of developement For example kalashnikov they did a great job on their rifles
hey, eric.... all i noticed was that chad didn't really seem to have any problems (other than the non-glock mag), but you had constant problems getting them down range... in computer terms, isn't that called operator error?? sorry, buddy, couldn't resist! as always, great review! thanks for all the hard work that goes into these videos.
Will this run the Fostech Echo Trigger v2? Can you drop it in and have it work with the 9mm like it does on the CMMG 45 Guard? If it will, I'm saving my pickles and dimes immediately to get one of these. Great video...keep up the good work guys!!
Im only running the rdb and 8" barrel in my build. But with a tubbs 308 flat rifle spring in a a5 tube with blitzkrieg rb5007 buffer...recoil is non existent. And yes I spent a lot more building, but with a elf 3 gun trigger and a gibbz g9 sidecharge upper it is sick. People said g9 upper I would have problems vs g4(full size ejection port) but no. 1200rds now and it is sweeeet
I have not tried hp but it eats cci blazer and fiocchi 115 and 124 easy. I use a foxtrot lower and had to shave 1/16th off mag catch. I want to try different mags, but I set it up on glock mags after a junk ets mag(spring folds over on itself sideways). If the current world situation would allow I would experiment. But as of today a pile of loaded glock mags are what i trust.
Chad, I have an Angstadt upper and lower in 10mm shooting a CMMG 8” barrel and BCG roller delayed blow back. I’m trying to figure out what buffer weight and spring to use with it. I currently haven’t shot it yet but placed the standard carbine AR buffer weight and a Sprinco yellow buffer spring in it to test first. Thank you for any help you can provide me.
Hey guys I want to clarify something that got lost in translation on my part. The bolt tuning kit wasn’t included with the gun when I got it, and the gun ships with 1 magazine. Iraqveteran8888 can you try to review a cz rami. No good TH-cam channels except for sootch has done one
Video annotations were so good. Thank you for taking it away TH-cam! Never disappoint!
Iraqveteran8888 just pointing out i bet they use 1/2X36 for the same reason palmeto state uses it so someone cant put a .556 break or can on it by mistake and blow their gun up
Do you have a link for those iron sights?
Chad is the atf that backed up on getting the paper work completed or are they understaffed ? 13 months seems like a long wait
Startling Alternate.
FX9 $599 Runs everything I put through it.
reloads, steel case, polymer coated, lead free alloy, hollow point, new production.
Works with every mag I have tried, glock factory, SGM, magpul, SHK, RDS.
Regular AR threads also
Chad is a good dude. Very knowledgeable guy. Thanks guys

Tinnitus begins at 127db and hearing damage is cumulative.
@@Bradington That's for continuous noise, not impulsive noise. This gun is perfectly hearing safe.
Aww Shiat! ❤️ I have one coming in 45 acp... I can't wait to try it out 😍
What buffer weight does it have? I’m running a 10mm and was trying to get info. Thanks!
Just bought a “newer” Guard. It’s 1/2x28 and has an M-Lok rail now. Definitely happy with it.
Thank you guys for what you’re doing here you guys don’t bullshit your viewers and subscribers you always give us the Truth

For $1300, put a fucking Geissele in it
12799MaDeuce Respectfully, it does have a Geissele in it. ALG Defense is Geissele's wife, and Geissele assists her.
If every gun >=$1300 warrants a Geissele, they need to start making triggers for a lot more firearms, including and especially your eponym. CHAD never force a magazine into a firearm. You know that. Love you guys videos.
Got one, so far runs everything I've put through it (including a bunch of different defense ammo) . Zero failures, and runs like a rapped ape.. well worth the $$$!!! Just say'n..

Eric and Chad, after seeing that level of skill, so glad we're on the same side.
I just ordered a 2022 model banshee MK17 I can't wait. It's expensive but when you compare it to any other delayed blowback system it is cheap and the other high end options are Sig stuff that is 2k
I love seeing a TH-camr shouldering a pistol brace.
When the house is asleep I put captions on and mute. Love that the caps say (MUSIC) when you guys hit steel.
When it comes to expensive guns, I live vicariously through Eric, Chad and Hickok45!
EXCELLENT review with shots of the internals. I want an 11" or 14" version for competition.
Whoa expensive. hopefully that new Stern Defense 9mm conversion works the bugs out. Would be nice to use a standard Milspec lower.
Plink Plink Plink... Love the music your making, because it sounds like freedom.
I've said this before, on multiple channels...if you stagger ammo types in the mags when using steel case, with a ratio of one aluminum/zinc round to 3 steel case, you will realize reliable feeding. All steel case rounds have this issue with glock mags, especially aftermarket glock mags.

Thats a nice "BRACE" on that gun you got there.
holy cow! that spring rattle is vicious
Great AR pistol if you can afford it. If you can't buy a PSA. They run great with factory ammo. I really am very pleased with mine.
I love the CMMG builds
This video was amazing. You guys are firing on all cylinders! Great gun, great vid, happy Friday! F*** yea 'Merica!!!!
I feel you on wait times. I put in for 3 stamps in May 2017 and I know better than to run to the mailbox any time soon.
Could you do a disassemble, clean & oil, reassembly of the 9mm banshee please?
This is going to be my first gun I buy when I move to GA. Suppressor too.
I've built a budget AR-9 that runs just as well for about $800. If I dumped about $250 more into it it would be on par or better than this rig. I did use a great Cmmg barrel, though, they're a great company. Great video as always, guys.
Took me 2 months to save up for this rifle now time for the purchase. Excited!
I keep seeing this thing being reviewed, looks great! Expensive... but nice things are expensive
David MN
Paid advertisement.
Taprackbang....exactly, a paid advertisement...hence everyone praising this overpriced gun
I sow it , in one of my local guns shops for $1200, still way too high for me.
Bought the CMMG lower from my local gun shop for $324.00 and ordered the upper direct from CMMG $724.00 including shipping, I don't feel so bad.
IIRC Tim over at MAC had all sorts of headaches with that Winchester USA steel ammo.
Yea..if im going to run steel case it'll be either Tula or Silver bear for 9mm...ive also used the Tula in 40s&w and 30 carbine with no issues
killerpeaches7 I bought 300 rds to test reliability and ran 100 rds through my Scorpion, G10, and P320 without issues. Perhaps I just got lucky.
You should do a comparison with the CMMG RDB, JP5, H+K MP5, Sig MPX, MBX Extreme, and other carbines with advanced recoil systems.
I wish youd rolled in a picture of the Winchester cartridge next to a round that is proper length to illustrate how something as small as half a millimeter difference can cause feeding issues.
Wish we could get this awesome shit here in Canada. It would be legal, but most destributors don't carry these pistol caliber AR's here unfortunately.
That trigger reset is louder in the video than the rounds going off.. "Thuphh.. Klak!"
YEA . that was a insanely loud reset
It's fun to watch you guys having fun!
To go with the good deal gun CMMG Guard/Banshee or the expensive B&T SPC9?
"Don't be afraid to beat on your stuff, guys....." OK, I'll keep that in mind. Honestly, the ammunition issue would scare me away from this gun. It's probably not going to run cheap 9mm very well. Dr. Thunder and Mnt. Lightening: preferred sodas of Iraqveteran8888

The way Eric is nailing those chimes he could do the Xmas tour with the TransSiberian Orchestra
Been following you guys for a few months now... new to a stand your ground state, and I'm learning so much.. the top 5 edc carry something I'd been hoping to see.. great job A+++

Love your videos btw!
Damn, gorgeous pulse tig welding lines on that can.
I have a Beretta CX4 with an Omega 9 can and it is also hearing safe with all ammo, in 9mm.
You can almost get 2 scorpion evo's for that price!
For what purpose? Extra parts when the first one breaks? Haha!

The steel's louder than the gun! :D
CMMG has a 3 month waiting list on the radial delay blowback 9mm upper set ! Any other options out there today? I also seen that PMag insert conversion from .556 to 9mm any input on that? Thanks!
So for $1300:
- You have to tune it with with parts that aren't included ($25) in order for it to function.
- Seems to be finicky with ammo.
- No sights
- Mil spec trigger
- Wierd thread pitch that you will need to buy an adapter for.
- It's $1300
- Only comes with 1 mag
- MLOK +$25
For $1300 you could get:
CZ Scorpion Evo pistol
Brace it (Shock wave setup)
5 spare 30 round mags
Uplula mag loader
500 rounds 9mm
Pretty good soft case
This will differ depending on where you get the gun and what you actually decide to get but I think I've made my point.
Seems to be an overpriced and finnicky boutique gun that very few will buy. If this scratches the ar itch and you don't mind getting very little value for $1300 then I say rock on. However call me crazy but something tells me this thing will end up being a commercial failure. For good reason.
Guess you were wrong.
So Chad, is this gonna replace your Lone Wolf AR9 build you did? Also what would you recommend more the 9mm or .45 ACP variant?
Wondering how the PCC sounds without the Can! Thumbs Up!
the recoil thingy seems cool
I’m getting a banshee but I can not decide 9mm or .45acp??????!!!!!!!?????? Eric or Chad what would you recommend????
The Guards are worth every penny to me. They'll take any trigger group and they suppress like no other. By far the quietest 9mm PCC I've shot. Guys, don't waste your money on an FX9 or any other direct blowback PCC, if you plan on suppressing.
I have a life philosophy: gather as much information you can on anything, especially if it's readily available. Here are my two rules that I always follow when I get any sort of equipment:
"Always read the ****ing manual. Read the ****ing text.
RTFM, RTFT" two very important things to do.
Would you recommend the 4" or 8" barrel on these CMMG pistols running suppressed?
Quick question was that in FDE or burnt bronze? Oh and as for the iron sights you added to it, what model exactly were they?
What are your thoughts about hollow points here? For real defense, etc, gotta do some sort of hollow points.
Interesting how easy is it to hear that he difference between subs and supers even through a camera mic
CLICKY PEN ACTION Is back in action!
The CMMG Guard and Banshee are some sexy ass guns.
For a 9mm I'd go with 995 yup hipoint.. fully dressed with sights, scope, laser, flashlight, hi cap mags, and reliable no matter ammo for 700, 300 for new basic that works
$800 yes sure I would like it. $1300 ahhh not on the short list.
I reached out about the threading, CMMG's response:
"Unfortunately, we do not plan on doing that. while ½-28 might be more popular on actual pistols, ½-36 is the standard (and recommended) thread pitch on a pistol caliber carbine rifle/AR style pistol chambered in 9mm."
I swear that Winchester 115grain steel cased is super dirty I get a jam every time I have tried to shoot it
Do a velocity test between the radial delay bolt n a blow back I feel u should get better velocity with the delay bolt
It's hearing safe without a suppressor? Can you use the glock 50 round drum with it?
Man!! I need one of those!!! Great video as always guys
it may be 1300 usd but in Canada it will top 2000 easily. Nice rifle n I want one......
Khmm, what was the pricetag on a scorpion evo again?
But at least this thing looks like an actual gun not like a botched up AR15.
From my point of view the most respectable weapons are the ones that performe great but are still simple and in that case also cheap
Because that makes a challenge of developement
For example kalashnikov they did a great job on their rifles
Are you able to buy just the buffer they use and their BCG system and put them in another AR9?
I bought one love it goes good with my glock 17 for a truck pair
hey, eric.... all i noticed was that chad didn't really seem to have any problems (other than the non-glock mag), but you had constant problems getting them down range... in computer terms, isn't that called operator error?? sorry, buddy, couldn't resist! as always, great review! thanks for all the hard work that goes into these videos.
Very kool pistol guys, but dang what a "Tactical" reset on that trigger. Lol Keep up the great work, Happy Holidays guys.
Now it needs a 4.5" barrel 1/2x28, with a m-lok hand guard to tuck a can underneath and I will be getting one.
Would like to see it run full auto
Chad, I have an Angstadt upper and lower in 10mm shooting a CMMG 8” barrel and BCG roller delayed blow back. I’m trying to figure out what buffer weight and spring to use with it. I currently haven’t shot it yet but placed the standard carbine AR buffer weight and a Sprinco yellow buffer spring in it to test first. Thank you for any help you can provide me.
That's a very good video. Thanks for sharing it.
Nice review.. I have a question though, is the chamber feeding ramp sloped or is it a flat wall. > Thanks.
Omg. Time those steel plates and you can play Jingle Bells with that quiet gun!
Comparing this thing to the Flint River Armory CSA45, which would you take? (yes 9 vs 45, blah blah blah).
Do they make a shorter one, like a 4 or 5 inch barrel? I would love to put together a stupid short carbine with a omega 9k or 45k in 45 acp.
Should try some of the Lehigh / Underwood stuff
Not too expensive, considering what you are getting. I have put this on my wish list.
I have feeding issues with most steel cases when using NON Glock magazines in pistols...., but none w OEM's
Chad/Eric Yall should do a best can for caliber video.
Awesome video guys!
