How do you test this type of Ignition coil Before Removing it ?

I read that a bad ignition coil will make your truck shut down when coming to a complete stop and it will also be hard to start up at times. This has been happening with 00 4.3 Vortec Silverado. I’m going to replace the ignition coil. Thoughts.

A weak or bad ignition can potentially do that yes

what do you call this type of ignition coil compared to a coil over plug.

Excellent video showing step by step as I’m going to be replacing the one on my 02 blazer ZR2! Mine will be running fine on the interstate and about 30 minutes into a trip it’ll start misfiring like crazy, does that sound like the ignition coil to you?

Check out the distributor cap too! Hope it works out.

@@JLGARAGE252 I’ve got a new one to put on it, I’ve replaced a couple over the past couple years, as we know making the dizzy out of plastic was a poor design, constant issues with these distributors lol, plan on eventually replacing the entire distributor, thanks man

I have a 2000 4.3 that I just got running after it sat for a good 4 years. Everything seemed fine but after I drove it home I was getting a P0300 and a P0303 as codes. I checked the wires and such, it already has new plugs, everything seemed fine and when I ran it again I got P0301 code this time. Check all around those wires and such and everything seemed fine. I already removed the cap/rotor and didnt see any severe wear or anything. What would be your thoughts on the next step. I hesitate to replace the full distributor because I can't really fix the timing here at home.

So I actually just bought a brand new 4.3 for my s10 and evening after installing it I’m getting the dreaded p0300 codes and a 301, I’m guessing it’s a fuel related issue, mines been sitting for 6 months or so

Hey nice video man I got a 2001 4.3 with a PO301 misfire and PO410 code any ideas?

For the 301 check distributor, cyl number one spark plug, first one on the driver side, check plug wires rotor and the cap

My 01 blazer will start up but it’ll run real rough and die overtime. I went to start it one morning and had a couple misfires then started having those issues. Is it the coil or distributor or both? I’m not a genius with this stuff but I’m not stupid either, just at a stand still with these issues

The coils have a tendency fail or weaken their spark over time.

My 02 chevy s10 4.3 p0128 code popped up. Any idea what it might be? I put in a new thermostat already. Please help

    • @JLGARAGE252
      @JLGARAGE252  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Check the thermostat, if it’s stuck open it won’t allow the coolant to get to proper operating temp.

What type of screws is the coil fastened with?

Does the ignition coil have anything to do w code p0303

    • @JLGARAGE252

A weak or failing ignition coil COULD cause a misfire but in that sense, you would typically see multi misfire symptoms
