Do not get caught up in these! Affirm does show up on credit score. I liked these cause payed off in a year. But really does hurt your monthly budget. I keep one credit card for emergencies and car repairs.

As a math guy, I like to look at the maximum upside of things like this. Let's say you put a $1,000 purchase into one of these programs that splits it up into 4 equal payments of $250 each, with the first payment on day 1 and the other payments a month apart. Assuming you put the money into a high yield savings account with a 0.5% interest rate, you stand to gain about 62 cents in interest. Sixty two cents! The potential downside is the seriously high interest rates mentioned in this podcast if you miss a payment. Seriously, that is so not worth 62 cents.

You're missing the point. It's not about trying to profit but instead to buy time.

The issue with Peyton is not after pay or klarna or affirm. It's her lack of self control. And this will reflect in every walk of her life and not just finances. How on earth do you keep repeating what makes you feel bad!! That's sadistic.

What I hate is people that rack up their cc and then declare bankruptcy, that is downright stealing, I don't understand how the system allows people to do this. If I stole from a store today I would be arrested and charged but I pay with a cc I can walk away Scott free.

Declare doesnt wipe it out your debt like that. The judge will review your bills, income and expenses to determine if it passes. You have to have a salary of less than 20% or lower compared to what your debt to have a chance.

I'm pretty sure 99% of people filing bankruptcy didn't want to.

There’s no free money! You can’t just simply hit the reset button and play the game again and any rich guru who tells you different is straight up lying to you. Cash is always king 💰🤷🏾‍♂️✊🏾

“I declare bankruptcy”, sounds off. I believe the correct statement should be, “i declare im broke” lol

For that klarna, George, my issue is I HAVE the money but it's only an online purchase for the foreseeable future. So why is it not a good deal to switch it into $150 payments 4x instead of just dropping the $600. Personally, though, I hate buying online, I prefer to buy it in a brick and mortar store if at all possible. Therein lies the issue. Best case scenario, it shows up at best buy in a couple weeks. WORST case, it could take 1-2 years to see it in a store. I've already waited almost a month but it's STILL not sold in any physical stores yet. I'm riled of waiting, honestly, 2nd if I buy it online I have to pay more sales tax than waiting for it to show up in the nearby state that has less sales tax.
To me, it's NOT about impulse buying, per se, it just seems like an interesting payment option as I already have the money for it, why not just spread it over 6 weeks? Just a curious thought ;)
