sims 3 sims have the highest autonomy of all, and they can run their own lives and not burn the house down while sims 2 sims often require me to micro-manage them
That's by design and one of the reasons TS3 falls short. The life simulation was the gameplay in the first two games, and that included the challenge of keeping your sims alive.
@@vanyadolly Kinda true but at the same time the open world gives so many things to do outside the house and in that sense I don't really mind the autonomy of sims in TS3
@@renatopereira810 That's the change in direction that sets TS3 apart from the first two games and why it doesn't compare as a life simulation. Love seeing someone point out the areas sims 4 went wrong compared to predecessors you should do another video and add in sims 3 comparisons alongside sims 1 and 2!
this is a great essay! while the sims 3 is also good and very detailed, i don’t get why people are asking about it when the title says this is just diving into sims 1 and 2
I used to hate, hate sims 4 when it came out in 2014, and kept playing sims 3 until like 2018. But after millions packs and improvements (and mods ofc) I can say TS4 is very cool and engaging.
To me there's no amount of stuff they can add to make the basic gameplay feel less simplistic. TS1 has very few bells and whistles, but the gameplay is still engaging to a point TS4 never has been.
This is a nice start and I can see you're getting a lot more comments than you expected. Hopefully this isn't overwhelming but my additional suggestions (sorry if I'm repeating anything someone else said because I stopped scrolling down after a certain point) would be to edit your script a few more times before recording the video. While relevant, the points in several segments ended up repetitive or vague and this probably could've been resolved simply by making the writing tighter to begin with. Please note, this is something I think everyone struggles with on some level so I'm not singling you out for it. Writing an essay/rant/diatribe/video script obviously takes a lot of effort, especially if you want it to seem effortless and casual lol. Also, since you've got some videos for Sims 2 game play on your channel, I assume you have access to it and while it's more time-consuming, I think it would help future videos stand out if you can include more original footage, especially about your talking points which frequently relate to game play. I think before you make a Sims 3 video, which you don't really play, it might be a good idea to consider revisiting this one to see what you'd change and then apply some of that to the next one. You don't have to replace this video at all but you could show what you meant about the Sims 1 and 2 compared to Sims 4 more directly in game, as a refresher, before exploring the differences in Sims 3. Especially since I think it would be more interesting if you kind of took notes and had direct comparisons. Everything in this video is kind of surface level so it'd make more sense to dive a little deeper next time. Obviously it's your channel and you don't have to do any of that, I just think it might help. I also agree some kind of outro or soft music in the background would be nice (but ofc it's risky; gotta find one that won't get a copyright strike.)
6:15 You got this kind of wrong, toddlers or pools weren't added on dlc's, were added later on base game actualizations that at the time came out allways with dlcs, but toddlers or pools weren't part of the dlc
I was saying this when TS4 came out and was out for a little while but none of the people I talked about it with believed me. Now Herr we are comparing the oldies to the new version and people aren't happy with TS4
maybe they didnt mention it cuz they haven't played it for themselves 😅 all their (4) videos are sims 2 focused, i dunno this is a weird hill to die on.
dollhouse and not a life simulator is exactly it. and it makes total sense. maxis and ea realized that there’s a player base that like simulators and figuring out math and how systems interact and min maxing them, and those are old school gamers that I picture like your nerdy 90s pc gamer guy. and then there’s the dollhouse doll and room dress up creatives designers that make their own stories and just need a fleshed out toolbox. these people are a bigger fandom, I envision them as left brain young girls and less conforming individuals that want to just express their creativity. these people make their own fun. they’re way more profitable and easy to develop for.
For a 'detailed' analysis it gets a heck of a lot wrong that is just opinion! The big problem from Sims 3 onwards they tried to simulate a whole community simultaneously, so they had to sacrifice some details. Sims 1 and 2 were chaotic, but that wasn't meaningful, it was just random noise, especially since the only household that aged was the active one. This is just click bait for SIms 4 haters, but compared to the Sims 3 at least the cost is upfront. The online store for Sims 3 tried to hide the overall costs by making people buy a currency, it makes the kit system look positively angelic
also, the visuals are completely unrelated to the text/essay and so they are actually highly distracting. can you actually make a video where the visuals and the essay match up? the purpose of the visuals is to support whatever you have to say, not distract from what you have to say.
The visuals seem to match up fine to me they talk about the game being unpredictable while showing a gnome attack in sims 1. they talk about supernaturals being more seamless while showing a witch polishing her orb, they talk about adding kits and stuff packs being cash grabby and show the costs of kits and stuff packs, they talk about sims 4 prioritizing aesthetics and show sims 4 CAS, they talk about chaos and drama and show Don and sims 1 duels, all seems related to me…..unless you’ve only played sims 4 and don’t understand the context of some of the visuals from the early games….
I recently purchased the sims 4 growing together, outdoor retreat and spa day--all for a total of less than $40 (cost of an expansion pack at full price). I just bought it on Amazon and there was a massive discount there. I got some good deals. I only ever buy packs on discount, though. No way am I shelling out $40 for an EP.
youtuber: detailed analysis me: where is the 'detailed analysis' here? all I see is you talking about the same stuff other people have talked about, and you don't even provide any concrete examples. you talk about 'depth' but you don't really go deeper into that topic, and honestly, I am interested in more of an in-depth explanation than a repeat of whatever other people say.
There are plenty of more in depth analysis videos showing what a dumpster fire sims 4 is….heck the game is free if you wanna download it and see how bad it is if you don’t already have it which I somehow doubt….believe it or not some people are just learning to make videos for fun or to learn something new, clearly this is a new channel just learning you can easily find a more experienced channel if your looking to be critical….
