  • The 707 hp Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has ruined me. Anything else I drive will feel gutless after this incredible experience. This is hands down the best bang for your buck if horsepower is your thing. Of course there is the obligatory burn out at the end.

    Kudos to Chrysler for producing two of the most insane vehicles on the planet. Under 70k,....Over 700 HP and flat 11 second quarter miles in a good looking four door car with a warranty, a real trunk and nice interior ? It is hard to find a car with those numbers , no matter what the price or configuration...... It is just a great time to be a car guy. On another note, there needs to be a Viper with this motor,...........random tests on the dyno show 750 HP at the crank in both the Challenger and Charger....damn, that is stunning.

    but I am curious about something on all hellcats, its said to be a race car and a daily commuter, but what about in places like Ohio where it snows allot in the winter. how will a car like this do in the winter, obviously you cant used the full 707hp, but is their enough dumbing down on the engine for it to ever gain traction?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say that the Hellcat in the snow would be no different than any other high horsepower rear drive car in the snow. Maybe wouldn't be bad with winter tires and driving in valet mode. On the plus side, at least all passengers bums will be warm with standard heated seats :)

  • @aaatomicpunk
    @aaatomicpunk 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have always loved Dodge and Plymouth since I was little enough to play handball up against a curb. All I have ever owned is either Dodge or Plymouth. I currently have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 6 speed a 2001 Dodge Ram Van a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T and a 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner. This new Charger is nice I guess as far as a general car goes but to me it just doesn't cut it as a Charger. This is not meant to disrespect to the guys n girls that own these new chargers but Dodge should be ashamed to make this thing with 4 doors and try to call it a Charger. Since 1966 Dodge Charger was always a 2 door car even into the 80's with the last gasp at trying to uphold the Chargers name with those little econo-cars before the name Charger went dormant . The first and second generation Dodge Chargers were always one of the top shelf BAD BOYS in in the car world, not just because of performance but also because of image. Chargers especially the second generation 68-70's became a legend in their own time and have a very rich racing history and has been in more movies and TV shows than any other car. It was and to this day still is one of the sleekest most beautiful car designs to ever be created. So for that reason I cant understand how geniuses at Chrysler came up with the concept of a 4 door Charger. Unlike Ford and Chevys designers, Its very clear that this current crop of mopar designers did no research on the history of the Dodge Charger before releasing this new charger. Imagine Ford telling the world that they were going to release a 4 door Mustang or Chevy telling everyone that a 4 door Camaro was coming Well those guys know better than to experiment with and disrespect their heavyweights. If anyone at mopar would have looked at the overall history of thier earlier performance cars they would have had a better picture. This car could have been called a Coronet instead of a Charger they were available in 2 and 4 door versions and in performance versions as well. and the Charger name could have been saved for something really special. If you remember the Challenger came out relatively fast after the new Charger and that was because so many people complained about the new charger that they had to do something to shut everybody up. Truthfully I see more police car chargers than civilian cars and I think in many ways thats their saving grace. Also did they have to get rid of Plymouth? think of all the great names that could have been reintroduced Roadrunner GTX Cuda Duster. Yea so the new charger is supercharged with 700 HP thats wonderful and I applaud that effort and I am considering the new Hellcat Challenger. As for the Charger? No thanks Ill keep my 1969 I drive that car down the street with only 465HP and it turns more heads than any new car ever will.

      Michael Crain I personally liked the Charger better. It either felt more balanced for me or I was more aware how to drive it after driving the Challenger. The Charger is about 100 lbs heavier but well worth having the extra 2 doors. I could totally see driving this across state with the family no problem. With that being said, I would not turn down either one.

      @BlackieChan57 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hell-pussy? Great insult but is far from in Dodge cars has well has most of Chrysler LLC quality is improving since its bankruptcy and the Hellcat is just proof Dodge is going to have a good future.

    • @MsPhuque
      @MsPhuque 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quality, not quantity. With Chrysler's abysmal resale values and terrible reliability ratings, they're heading straight back to bankruptcy.... again.

    • @wun1gee
      @wun1gee 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Phu Que You talk about abysmal resale values, but have you actually looked at the KBB retail values? A 2011 Charger R/T base with 36,000 miles is still worth nearly $25,000. That's 10% depreciation in 4 model-years with one of those model-years being a facelift year. That's pretty damn good. And the Jeep Wrangler, a Chrysler product, is the 3rd best vehicle in America as far as retaining it's resale value. The only two vehicles in the US that retain their values better than a Jeep Wrangler are the Toyota Tacoma and the Toyota FJ Cruiser...
      Recently, Dodge cars, like the Charger, have been getting very good consumer reviews. Long-term tests are very positive. Very few recalls and those that exist are relatively minor (Nothing like Chevy's ignition issues or Toyota's sticking throttles...) We're talking about cars that have, largely, Mercedes-sourced drivetrains, great build quality and excellent, sometimes class-leading warranties.
      So you're speaking a lot of nonsense. Are you a Mustang driver, by any chance?

      The Charger Hellcat doesn't come with a manual gearbox. This auto is pretty good though.

      The new 8 speed auto is an awesome gearbox shifts are insanely quick, when using the paddle shifters it is fun, in the challenger hellcat i would still prefer the 6speed manual, but the Jeep srt and Charger are best suited with the auto

      @mikewillis9108 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Modern automatics are better than manuals on the track, they're much faster and easier to use. Manuals can be more fun though, especially in small, light sports cars to throw them around turns. This is not such a case. For straight line performance you can't beat these new 8 speed autos.
      The thought that manual is the only way to drive is a little outdated

    • @rrrado1
      @rrrado1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Willis To me changing gears on the track is pure fun, even if I am not faster than automatic gearbox, of course I'm not. I don't want some processor to change gear for me just like I don't want it to brake or turn the wheel for me. The only automatic gearbox for track is the one with floppy pedals, where you can also change gears whenever you like. But sorry, automatic is not fun... and I don't buy that it's outdated. It's shame that Charger does not have manual, I saw Challenger Hellcat with manual (which by the way looks much better also).

      ***** From an ideal shift point perspective, you can't outshift the computer. You might like the action of doing it, and might think you are god's gift to shifting, but with all of the analysis that goes on by taking feedback from the suspension, air density, current speed, acceleration, amount of fuel, etc, the computer will make that shift decision better than a human any day.

    The challenger hellcat isn't the fastest muscle car ever produced the Shelby gt500 and the Shelby gt500 supersnake are the fastest muscle cars. Both Hellcats need to loose weight before racing zr1's and gt500's. Come on SRT go on a diet the key to having a fast car is less weight.

    • @Dev.n
      @Dev.n 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sir , you are right about one thing. That's is the fact that the challenger isn't the fastest production MUSCLE car .. but on the contrary the charger doesn't NEED a diet. I mean I didn't know that that 205 mph top speed oh and a 0-60 in the 3's was a recipe for dieting.. Especially when MUCH for expensive cars(sedans to be specific) aren't the fastest in the WORLD (production wise).! Cough cough
      Bmw.. 5 series
      Mercedes.. s class
      Adui.. A/S models

      That car doesnt do 3's in 0-60 more like 4 seconds flat there a video of it doing 4's with launch control and no traction control and the car only did 202mph top speed

    • @GT-OD
      @GT-OD 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They just say that to get more complements and I'm pretty sure the car is fast in drag but not around a circuit. Lol

    • @Dev.n
      @Dev.n 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh okay so because a car (production wise let's not forget)
      Can "ONLY" do 202 top. And 4 flat to 60.. For $6*,***.. that means it needs this so called weight reduction to go fast ?

    • @Dreadzedan
      @Dreadzedan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +oakleyfan98 wow you must be an aero dynamics engineer, the sedan only weighs 125lbs more, and a child could look and see the charger has a much sleeker aero dynamic profile that would cut through the air better allowing it to be faster. that muscle car blunt front = poor aero dynamics.
      I may be giving you too much credit, do you even know what aerodynamics are?

    • @Dreadzedan
      @Dreadzedan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Quoi Pourquoi No challenger is 199 mph
      charger is 204mph
      in a1/4 mile challenged is 11.2
      charger is 11.0

  • @socratesRAM
    @socratesRAM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll stick with my M5's, and until I do a rolling race against one of these I won't believe that it's that fast. I'm sure it can do the drag racing part and for the money it sounds like a bargain, but it still looks cheap as hell. The Germans are going light weight awd with 60 times in the low 3's and even though they have to abide by the cafe laws and create smaller efficient powerful engines, they will still be faster, lighter, more luxurious and better looking than these shit boxes. Instead of 707 hp how about a decent interior, light weight materials and a touch of class. None of these American car companies get it. It's not about the power, it's about a perfect balance.
