Jodi, I'd just finished watching your previous video on braiders 30 minutes ago. These are so addictive, especially for me as a hairdresser. I can't believe this craziness happens in salons. I'm watching this with my hand over my mouth in shock! 😮 Thank you, Take care from Australia. 🇦🇺
@@JodiTheIslandGirl I'm actually a New Zealander currently living in Australia. I found your channel a few months ago and your commentary is great. Y'all keep saying she shouldn't be yelling, couldve been handled it differently... Y'all are trippin! If i sit somewhere for 9 hours in a SHOP, I expect shop quality.. Then she's been here before, so why tf has the quality changed? And why are they just hiring anybody to play in people's hair?! They're so used to not getting approached, bc most women go home and cry on social media about how much they hate their hair.. Handle that shit right then and there and maybe they'll stop playing in people's faces
You’re right they used to people crying on social media and not even telling people the name of salon. Sis had the right idea they need their asses exposed
The hairstyle looks a mess. There's no way you're going to get mad at me over your mess up.Take it out and pay her. She needed to say she couldn't do the hairstyle and not play in people's head. It is also your responsibility to look at your hair while it's being done.
I went to a popular braiding spot in HTX and I let the woman take a comb through my long hair 4 times before I canceled the appointment. That was the second red flag. The first red flag was the short hair she had was not a kept up short hair. It was damaged. She should have spoken up sooner.
That and dangerous I'd go home and take out that hair myself I couldn't make someone mad then trust them with my hair even if I did have my reasons to be mad.
I’m glad social media are exposing unprofessional hair stylists and im not mad about that at all bc imma have my woman doing my hair since we both got locs cause Ian spending my money on no hairstylists no more
She's right too that black people been getting braids generations before African braiding became a thing. We know what braids/twists/etc. are supposed to look like.
I know a few people asked why she brought up her nationality. If you listen, the shop lady started saying she'll call the cops on her, she has no right, etc. I think that's when she started saying her nationality and also saying she's black, she's been getting braids since she was little, etc. She's not wrong. They didn't do that right, were gaslighting her, and then the other lady was saying she was calling the cops, she had no rights, etc. That's wild.
As an American BRAIDER I'm more than understand both sides I do wish that our American sisters would give us a chance because we already know their needs and what they're not going to stand for usually they over communicate with us and almost become bullies because there's no communication barrier. What I will say also is that I am proud of the American black woman for speaking up because usually we leave mad and try to come back she was courageous enough to confront the problem head-on she should have just got her money back and left and if they were holding it they should just give it to her and let her leave
This reminds me of how my braids look messed up recently and I paid $200. And so I ended up rebraiding my own hair and it looks way fresher than the stylist has done. But I for sure won’t sit there for 9 hours for 💩 work.
She already had some cut when she started recording though. So, and I'm assuming, she probably started turning up when they started arguing with her instead of refunding her because that's what most of them do. I could be wrong but that's definitely how it seems

I normally don’t comment but I will today, being a hairstylist for over 20 years. I don’t do braids like this but I’ve had many haircuts, foils, colours etc. most of us work on commission and had to pay for hair school which is ridiculously expensive. 200$ for 9hrs equals out to minimum wage here in BC, Canada. I’m shocked at both parties not making sure each other was happy.. sitting 9hrs and not being happy or working for over a full day potentially, at minimum wage, without being paid.
Some of the styles braids are not good. Yes there are unprofessional hairstyles and braids. But there are also unprofessional costumers. Another thing, I don’t like is African American, throwing up I’m American, to the African braiders. Like the first lady, as if that makes her better, because she was born in the U.S, it’s very disrespectful.
She was wrong to me. If you pay attention the lady clearly was cutting out the hair then she had the scissors in her hand. Anyone would be mad just take them out….she’s messy boots too me

My problem with this entire video is why did she wait 9 hours to speak up????? She knew she had a viral video 😅... either way at the end if they cut it out and she didn't like it, I don't think she should have to pay anything
I am genuinely confused at how women will sit in a chair for 9 hours and not check what's going on after the 1st hour to see if she likes it. I understand the salons "make you turn away from the mirror" but come on. for real? You TELL THEM you are going to see what kind of work they're doing before you go for 9 HOURS! That's crazy ya'll.
That’s a jacked up hair braiding and this from a white woman. I had braids put in by a family member in Jamaica 🇯🇲 and they were perfect and only took about an hour.
The real issue is, Africans specifically west africans cannot braid our hair. What people need to understand is caribbean and black americans and afro latino hair grows longer naturally. Modern africans from the west to central africa hair grows shorter. The concept of braiding coming from Africa is ridiculous because Africa is a continent, and various ethnicities exist there. The ones who had an extensive braiding culture lived in the north to parts of the east and many of them are either nomadic, or dont exist anymore because they were in ancient societies like nubia and ancient eygpt. And none of them are in america or the western world. I've seen Africans have cornrows and other styles more comon with black american and caribbean culture and it ends up falling out because they dont have enough hair to support it. Some people wanna get on the its because they hate black american train, when its simply that they dont understand how to do our hair and think it done as the same as theirs. Its no coincidence that the modern version of dreadlocks grew from ethiopia and then jamaica because the people there grow longer hair. When have you ever seen a west african with an natural afro? Never unless its a wig. The reality is just because we all black doesnt mean were the same.
Stop trying to start shit. I'm white too, and even I can tell what the problem is. It doesn't take a genius to tell the parts were jacked up. And all braids do not look the same, Carey!
Social media is exposing so many unprofessional people and I’m not mad about it. Thank you Island girl
She stood on business for sure
It’s the center part for me…Booky you know this lady’s hair is crap 😂…I’m happy she called them out instead going home to cry.
I cried when she zoomed in…this is wrong on so many levels
Why did she sit for 9 hours and not seeing what they are doing
She trusted them because she goes there all the time but apparently this stylist is new
They make you sit they also turn the chair see you can’t see
I always asked to see what’s going on in my head so this doesn’t happen to me. Sad
@ that’s your story not hers.
She didn’t take a bathroom break, and look in the mirror. This wild.
Even in the hair salon, the smoke detector is going off 🤣 No wonder this is a meme by now.
Hahaha…I didn’t even notice…see why I look forward to the comments?! 😆

Oooh the shouting 🙉 it's raising my anxiety 😫
I'm not sitting in a chair for 9hrs, no way!!!!
Cartisol level through the roof
The amount of money we pay for them not to take their time and make sure our style is how we want it and then wanna get mad at us ?!! The audacity!
She has a right to be upset and ask for a refund or takedown, however, the way she went about it likely escalated things. I get recording for evidence, content, etc but it can get ugly
Agreed
She probably escalated because they probably didn't want to give her a refund..thats probably why she went to social media. My opinion
Cause people wanna convince you that their f up is okay.. an SC it’s okay, it’s fine nothing is wrong with it. Or a straight up attitude. Nails too.
I don’t blame her AT ALL. She basically just got robbed.
I’m wondering if she was refunded

“I’m an American citizen born and raised!!!…. I have freedom of speech don’t tell me what to do!” BOOM 💥 🎤
I’m thinking because she goes often and has never had an issue
Ooof
I can part my own hair better!

No have feelings about hair.
So go to harlem then💯.
Lol y’all need to just learn how to do y’all hair. Sad 😂
That’s a jacked up hair braiding and this from a white woman. I had braids put in by a family member in Jamaica 🇯🇲 and they were perfect and only took about an hour.
Funny as hell
I don’t see what the problem is. All braids look the dam same to me. But them I’m white so I don’t have these problems.
It’s the part that had me😂
Stop trying to start shit. I'm white too, and even I can tell what the problem is. It doesn't take a genius to tell the parts were jacked up. And all braids do not look the same, Carey!
It don't look right! Period!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
