It's been 11 years and I'm learning from it to design a logo and make hoodies for a local little league team and their parents 😅 Very helpful! This effect is exactly what I was looking for and I played around with arc and arch and couldn't get it to look how I wanted (straight at the top, warped up on the bottom).
Great tip. This helps me out quite a bit. I had been trying to do this in InDesign and then Photoshop, but the Illustrator version you demonstrated was much easier and more controllable. Thanks Again!
Thx for this tutorial! In my typography class we have to make up a team logo and this gave me a few more ideas. The only problem what when you stretched the text to make it taller...I personally have to beef with that but my instructor has it dead set in his head that doing that is an unforgivable sin. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial it was very helpful.
Thanks for doing this! Washington Nationals"Nationals" logo is done like this and I was going the long way around to try to get this effect, saved me a lot of aggravation...!
People are asshats man. THANK YOU for taking time out of your day to do this. I was over here trying to move individual points into an arc like an idiot. Lol! Mad props. Thank you!
Also, if I may, you can also decrease or increase the spaces between the letters by fiddling with the 'tracking', this is a better method I believe, because it will save time, and all of the text will be affected equally - no human error nonsence. The 'tracking dial' is found in the 'Paragraph' window, which is in WINDOW>TYPE>PARAGRAPH.
Hi Mike, I am a beginner and I really like your videos. Can you do a tutorial on how to do text around a circle? or shape? I figured out how to do it around a circle if the text goes all the way around (which makes the text upside down at the bottom). I'd like to know how to make it so the text is upright on the bottom of the circle as well as uprignt on the top of to circle. I am trying to create a logo stamp type thing. Thanks a million! :D Love it when you upload new videos... :D
Mike, I know this video is like three years old but I liked it. I wonder is it possible to do something similar with illustrator like have the bottom of the letters follow a path and the top stay straight.
just to mention something when you hit "Create outlines" it does do something funny, it actually creates the outlines for the text you've added before. ^_^
It is possible to do this easily the same way in Photoshop. With the text layer selected, from the menu LAYER>TYPE>WARP TEXT, voila, the same warp options.
Hey Mike, I'm trying to recreate some warp text but the way is done I have no idea how to do it. How can I send you the image for you to take a look at, your help will be very much appreciated.
I love how people are still learning from this after 9 years
just saved our asses by encountering this vid lols

Thank you so much! This especially helped when you suggested making the text longer first and then doing the lower arc warp.

And then specifically, Arc Lower --> Negative Bend (however much % you want).
