- In this episode of Teach Me, GP2040-CE I'll show you how to upgrade the Haute42 products (G, T, S, M, and Mini series) to 0.7.6 from previous 0.7.x versions. You'll just need a USB cable that supports data (not just charge).
UPDATE: You can go from 0.7.5 and previous to 0.7.7, just replace the 0.7.6 references in this video with 0.7.7. If you updated to 0.7.6, you shouldn't need to flash nuke; just flash the Haute42 variant of 0.7.7 over 0.7.6.
NOTE: DO NOT connect your Haute42 product to your computer via the USB-A port! Only use the USB-C port. For the G-Series, only use ONE of the USB-C ports, never both.

Some things I missed:
A little commentary on the Mini, since it doesn't have LEDs or the status screen: The only way you can tell that you're in webconfig mode is to try going to 192.168.7.1 in your web browser; if it loads, then you're in webconfig mode. Similarly, the way to confirm you're in Bootsel mode is to see if the RPI-RP2 drive is present.
Any series (really, any GP2040-CE product): If you go into webconfig mode and 192.168.7.1 won't load, you may have some security software blocking access to local web addresses (or your network uses 192.168.7.* and it may be already taken elsewhere). In that case, you'll need to allow an exception (or temporarily disable this). Also, make sure you're not entering before it (it's plain ).

Hi Zaveros! Since you have the T16 as well. Is there any way in the web configurator to set the L3. and Up buttons that do not appear on the 'stickless' layout of the LED customizer? I cannot find a way to. This would be the WASD W/up, and the button directly left of the stickless Up. Thanks in advance!
@@leviathenx7531 I don't think they appear in the current firmware; they're supposed to show up in future releases though.
@@Zevaeros My haute 42 S16 won’t cut on anymore I did it all wrong I downloaded the files and then straight up tried to drop them into the RP1-RP2 and it kept automatically disconnecting my haute 42 s16 from my Mac laptop every time I tried dropping the files in it and my laptop kept saying that I’m unplugging it wrong and so I kept trying and eventually my haute 42 s16 stopped working it’s not cutting on when I plug it into my laptop anymore and the lights won’t cut on either is there any way I can fix this ?
@@DarthZuk See my newer video on how to upgrade to 0.7.8; use the flash nuke method described there. The S16 should have a pinhole on the back you can stick something in to press while you plug in to get it into bootsel mode, then flash nuke, then use the H42-Cosmox firmware variant.
If that doesn't work, jump on the Haute42 Discord and post a support thread.

Is there any chance you could make a brief tutorial on the Haute42 G13 series LED parameters and it’s functions indicated by the manual? I struggle finding elaborate information about the leds on those pads and how the functions on those pads work!

I reach the part when I connect the hitbox on bootsel and then see the page of 192.168.7.1, but once i'm there it doesn't show me anything on the explorer file, when it's supposed to be the old drives of the hitbox. I don't know what's the problem.
I released a newer guide that goes into more detail for updating to 0.7.8; check that.

Hi Zevaeros, great video, keep them coming. I have the Haute42 T16. It's configured to stickless mode. How do you get the 4 additional buttons to light up? In webconfig it doesn't show those additional buttons so I cannot assign an LED . I have updated to version 0.77 firmware. Also the display doesn't show the additional buttons either.
For getting the other LEDs to work: Enable custom LED layout, then try assigning LED colors to the option buttons. I forget exactly what does what (touchpad is something?) but they will let you light up the extra L3 and the extra up. I predict the custom LED setup will change in the near future.
For the status display, the main 0.7.7 currently doesn't support these right now -- there is a custom variant available on the H42 Discord that should add the extended display.

Man even after watching this, I think my mini is bricked. It won’t let me go to the link page, it won’t do anything. I could be missing something but I broke down and bought a Junkfood micro. I have to say the micro is way easier to manage. Still I want my haute mini to work!
The H42s should have a bootsel button in the back; use that to flash nuke, then load the Haute42 variant of GP2040-CE.
Mine was a lemon. Got it switched out for a couple different Haute 42’s can’t beat em for that price
I just got my haute 42 S16 and I think I broke it or something it won’t turn on anymore every time I try to plug it in the lights won’t cut on at all
@zevaeros could you make a guide on how to edit the display? For example I remapped my rb lb buttons but the stock input display still shows button presses as they were prior to remapping , how would I flip the rb lb on the display

You don't open the flash file(s) on its own; see my newer 0.7.8 guide for a more complete process.

Just to confirm, do you mean the green status LED, your button LED settings, or the little status display?
custom button led's. for every single button in a custom colour in each state (std and pressed)
@@senX Hm. I've found that trying to restore that sometimes doesn't work right - not sure if it's a known issue for 0.7.7 to 0.7.8 right now.
Sanity check the custom RGB feature is turned on in add-ons first. You may need to use the hotkey to cycle through color themes to get it to work after that. gp2040-ce.info/rgb-leds/
After a few seconds of getting into the web config, everything stops working. If I go to settings, config, try to reboot, nothing shows up. Eventually my computer makes the sound that a USB peripheral was unplugged and plugged back in. I feel like I need to hard reset this thing or something because nothing works. The controller itself works, but I can't change anything. Can't turn the led lights on, this stupid picture I uploaded to the mini led shows the whole time, it just feels bricked, aside from working in game of course- I can't change socd, can't reassign buttons etc so while it sort of works I can't change anything
this is so frustrating because i cant find an answer to this specific problem. anything on reddit usually turns out to be something like the person didnt hold start when they plugged it in so the web config isnt showing. my web config shows, shows my version, (Current: v0.7.7-5-gf220e54-dirty) dirty? does that mean its broken? lol idk. theres also no button like you have to "get latest version" unless thats just no longer there in these versions. so initially i can see the web config when i FIRST plug it in. i can even click settings and see other pages for a short time. im noticing now that its not working, on the version it says "undefined (undefined.uf2) so idk what the hell is going on. i just want to start over fresh with this thing ive used it for like a day.
Have you tried to update it to the latest 0.7.9 version with back boot button method?
@@such-ej i was able to do this just now, and it looks like i was able to update to 0.7.9, which is a new development, however, even tho its updated, i still cant configure anything in web config.
@@such-ej sorry for so many comments.... i just did the flash nuke, and THEN updated to newest firmware and that seems to have done it. my rgb lights are back on, i can see the buttons again in the little screen, so fingers crossed the web config works, but looks like that fixed it. couldnt have done it without this back boot method so thank you!!
Please tell me what should I do if I replaced the "start" pin17 button on the Haute M16 plus device. Now I can't configure my controller. The reset button on the back didn't help. How can I reset all buttons to default?
1. Unplug your M16+
2. Use something to press the Bootsel button on the back and keep it held down
3. While holding down the button, plugin to a PC via USB-C port and wait about 5 seconds
4. You should now have the EFI-RP2 drive appear in file explorer. Let go of the bootsel button.
5. Download the current firmware and the flash nuke.
6. Copy the flash nuke file over to the EFI-RP2 drive; this will reset the controller to stock.
7. Copy the UT file for the H42/Cosmox variant of GP2040-CE over to the EFI-RP2 drive once it comes back.

I followed the steps but my G16 is now stuck on splash screen, I can get into webconfig mode but can't use the controller, it stays on HAUTE42 with the buttons in red
OMG this completely bricked my G16, now the screen won't even turn on. I did just as the video said, and I tried two times (nuked then install fw). I tried going from 0.7.4 to 0.7.7. I had the same result twice (stuck on splash screen when booting in controller mode). Then I went into webconfig and tried nuking and reverting to 0.7.5 (with the old non-haute specific fw), but that made it froze and now it won't turn on, no drive appears when pressing the physical boot button on the device and connecting.
EDIT: I completely panicked lol, I tried with a different computer and I was able to do it pressing the physical boot button and nuking and using the 0.7.7 fw. I may have had issues because I was using a Macbook first, with a USB-A to USB-C adapter, maybe using adapters can mess with the process, just be careful, I used another Mac that had native USB-A input.

My leds light and oled screen don’t work anymore after I hit danger zone a day ago.
If you go through the nuke to flash process again it should restore default settings.

Hi, Im having problems, I updated my controller to 0.7.7 and after I dragged the file the explorer automatically closed and my controller display isnt showing, any help?
Redownload the flash nuke and GP2040 for Haute42 files (possibly try another directory, you may want to do a disk scan). Use the bootsel button and try flash nuking then updating again.
File explorer will usually close if you select a drive that gets disconnected, so if you don't drag and drop that's normal behavior.
where did you get your cord? mine came with the cheap white one or can I purchase any usb-c to usb-a cord and itll work?
You can use any USB C to C or A to C cable as long as it supports data transfer. Usually I'll get C-to-C and some C-to-A adapters. Amazon and AliExpress are generally where I go.
If I import my PS4 key, PEM, and signature files in 0.7.5. Do I need to reupload them again after I update to 0.7.6?
As you need to flash nuke which will clear everything, I'd assume you'll need to reimport those key files.
just got my new g16 and holding start seems to do nothing which is weird, the start button works when im in a game
Sanity check: The controller should be unplugged as you hold start. Keep holding start as you plug it in. You're doing this, right?

If it uses GP2040-CE then it should. Check to see if the manufacturer has their own variant and instructions for updating.

Sanity check a few things:
1. The controller boots and connects in regular controller mode
2. The start button works in regular mode
If #1 fails, try different cables and PC ports. If #2 fails, you either remapped start or it may not be working. In Windows, use joy.cpl to make sure things are working.

Next sanity check, are you holding Start as you plug in? (you seemed to indicate yes) When you do this, what does your status screen (on the controller) show?
If you open a command prompt and use ipconfig, does your IPv4 address start with 192.168.7?
Why does my pin mapping screen looks different. Its more simple and i do not have all the pins. Do i need an update or something
Go to the Home tab to see what version you have loaded.

OK, let's sanity check:
1. Do you have a known good cable that supports data transfer?
2. Can you get into Bootsel mode (use the button method) and see the RPI-RP2 drive?
If you can get the bootsel mode to work you can flash nuke and then use the 0.7.8 Haute42-COSMOX variant to flash.

What model? What firmware do you have on there now? Did you try flashing already or did it just stop working?

Make sure you are in webconfig mode and using 192.168.7.1 (https often gets inserted)

How to connect it to ps5?
I'm working on that as my next video, but you'll want to get a Magicboots for PS4 1.1. Plug that into your USB-A port and toggle to PS4 mode, then you should be set.

I have a newer video on upgrading to 0.7.8 that is probably a little more detailed. The "dirty" version was included with shipped units and you can use the fast method to upgrade to 0.7.8.

what if the website does not open?
First, make sure you're actually getting into webconfig mode (the display should tell you).
Second, make sure your network isn't using 192.168.7.* (otherwise you may need to disconnect first).
Next, make sure no security software is preventing you from loading local websites.
