I used to, but now he's allowed them to be so commercial they are watered down and mostly ruined for me. Not the "sell out" factor, but it just makes me cringe when I hear some of his best works used like that when clearly he never needed it. There are better ways to use songs than the way he ended up using them. This would be an exception, as is Hollywood nights, main street, but it's disappointing at minimum.

By the time I was 16, (1975), my dad had taught me to ride his bike. When I was 17/18, our HS teacher was often invited for dinner, at my family's home, he was @24/25, saving $ for med school, by teaching. One night after dinner, my parents gave permission for this good responsible man to put my younger brother on his bike, while I rode Daddy's bike. The three of us rode out to "Kerr Lake", not the same as Fire Lake, but, oh boy, this was a wonderful experience! Flying through the darkness, racing along, side by side on deserted roads, hearing my little brother's whoops....oh God, to be young again! Watching this video and remembering the song, brings it all back again. Bless you, Bob, and bless Dr. Gudger...my parents wouldn't have let a young woman make this night drive, otherwise.

Snd when I leave this earth, Bob Seger will be blaring out that funeral homes speakers. He was back then , he is now, and always will be the best ever. Just my opinion. Bob Seger is a living legend. We rocked Memphis, TN on his last tour before he retired. BUT HEY BOB, if you see this, I’d pay for another ticket , anyplace in America you choose to perform. Love ya BOB

anytime you hear any Bob Seger song you think "that's Bob Seger's best song"
James Beck he makes a lot of good songs. My top three are night moves, fire lake, and turn the page

Totally! We love Bob here in Michigan :-)
Rolling down the highway at 80 miles an hour listening to Bob Seger, love it.
Roger that. When you gotta big Harley bagger with cruise, it's easy to do! 😎

I was thinking of a different "Fire Lake", if you know what I mean.
Thanks i had no idea
Bob Seger was the man! The Eagles were the Band! Seger made history in the hearts of all of us who grew up with his music! And thank god he and Glenn Frey headed west to make some of the best Music ever made in my time.....I love Bob Seger!
did you know Bob Seger did the sound track for Holiwood nights and Glenn Fry stuck the cassette in in car and listened to it a he headed up the California coast and was driving faster and faster with the rythm of the music till he realized he was doing about a 100 mph.that night he wrote the Lyrics
cg505able
ozzy black rain
cg505able you got that right!!!!
Seger and Frey are two of the best musical legends in my lifetime (62). My other legends are Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Jeff Lynne, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Fogerty.
No doubt.. every song wrote and sang are timelessly in a category by himself ..
Just awesome.. thank you Bob Seger for my 70's growing up with your eight tracks too !!
Amen Bro ... those were days in Utopia !!!
This song is everything that kicks ass about America, and contains none of the bad things.
Another great Bob Seger song, his music will never get old.
I love this song 🎵 ❤️ and this video. This song takes me back to my teenage years when I was young and free and just having fun.
Me too...😊
I grew up in SE Michigan, Bob Seager played baseball fields and local theaters. I remember seeing him at the old Michigan theater back in the early 70s. Very good times and the best music decade ever.
Lucky Dawg!
In 1967 I moved into East Quad at U of M. There was a band playing at a frat down the street. It was Bob Seger!
I’m 22. My dad showed me this song because it reminded him of his mom and now it’s one of my favorites. That’s 3 generations enjoying Bob Segar! I wanna go to fire lake too…
I'm 81. So, just WHERE is Fire Lake?
Im not sure about WHERE fire lake is, but there's only one place I picture a lake burning..........and look whos there.....its JOE.

A gentleman below said this : Boy this brings back the free days when we still had freedom. And youth.

Imagine riding your Harley high up in the BlueRidge mountains. It's a crisp fall evening and the sun is starting to set and the sky is a golden orange. As you look out over the horizon this song is playing. Absolutely priceless.
I play this song just about every time I take off and go for a ride on my FXD 👍
roberta miranda…..Been there and done that about five years ago....and came within inches of plowing into a black bear who chose an inopportune time to cross the Blue Ridge Parkway! With binders on both wheels making the tires scream and closing fast, that bear looked a lot bigger than it probably was, but six years later, that vision is still burned into my brain.
roberta miranda i did that! This year: The whole Skyline Drive 👍🏻
I've run that on a 74 Glide...nothing better.
@@Leeson54 I live on the coast in central CA. Six years ago, at the age of 74, I took off on my bike on a mission to 'bag' the 16 states I hadn't yet been in....all of them east of the Mississippi. First stop...Key West, FL. While riding north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I met a fellow biker when we came within inches of colliding with a black bear. We stopped, chatted and he invited me to his home for the night (I spent three) and we have been friends ever since. We have gotten together a couple of times since for rides and lunch in Seattle's Space Needle, but it's really tough when we live 3500 miles apart.
My wife has never seen Niagara Falls, which I think is awesome and want to take her there, so we will probably get together with our friends, who live about 300 miles from the falls.
But first, my Australian wife has a brother who has a birthday five days before mine, so we plan to fly there so he and I can celebrate our 80th together. BHE
actually…. i skipped over this song as a teen, and only played his laundry list of top hits….but…years ago when i actually went back and listened to this song….. i said to myself…. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ??? but it quickly became apparent, that i was too young back then to appreciate it. this is a Man’s song … i love it now. a simple masterpiece.
Bob Seger will always be one of the greatest musicians of all time

Same. Except on a chromed-out Harley knucklehead or panhead trike with an early 70s custom esthetic, while wearing vintage fringed leathers...
Seger has a knack for writing upbeat and energized songs that really put you in a better place.

The lyrics of this song are haunting. I loved this song since the first time I heard it.

The 70's,80's,90's were the best ❤
I Love this song. Never get tired of hearing it.
Hello Elaine, I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it?
Thank you TH-cam for the upload of this great song😊
All Bob Seger’s music is great!
Ill tell y’all one thing, i saw Bob when I was about 16 yrs old back in 1986. I went to see him in 2019 i was 51. Both shows were epic. I’ll always cherish this artist. My favorite, my entire life. Love ya BOB
He's the Best at telling a story in His Songs. That why We His Fans Love Him so much.We can relate to Theses Great Songs so well.
Far away in a small village in the Peloponnese (Greece) a 75 year old ex hippie is listening with a heart full of Love.
Bob Seger is my all time favorite artist, musician, and song writer. Mister Seger you are a musical genius. I don't have a favorite song of yours. All of your songs are my favorite. You will always be number one in my book. We will all be blessed in Heaven as we hear you sing to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the same as we have been blessed to hear you sing to use here on His earth.
Anyone else remember when in Easy Rider Jack Nicholson rode on the back with football helmet on. You know Bob Seger has been putting out some of the greatest hits for over 5 decades. A true legend.
I so recall that movie when it was first released. Today, I still ride and am planning a major ride in about a month.
Yes..I remember
I remember. I remember crying my eyes out at the movie's end..much to my husband's disgust LOL

Very underrated Seger song. I put in his top 5 songs. Thanks for the greatest music MR. SEGER. YOU ROCK.
Aaaah, keep coming back to this song and video, especially while we have to wait for another riding season... who wants to ride to... no matter where - main thing it's far away and worth the ride!!
My mom used to love this song and listened to it a lot. I like listening to this stuff sometimes when I miss her. Brings her spirit a little closer. Wish they still made this kind of music.

The best cruising the road song ever. I love everything he does. Keep on trucking, Bob!!
Magnificent !!!!!! .. and those backing vocals by some of "The Eagles" themselves !!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out that Don Henley came down to Sheffield, Alabama with Glenn in 1971 as well. That's when they started the concept of the Eagles began.
I was in high school, I had an old cassette player in my hot rod SS camero ( truth be known it was a rolling breakdown once out of school it got to be a true hot rod) I had an extensive collection of music. During my senior year I put Bob Segar's double live in the player and the tape finally broke just before graduation. I never changed it all year long. I love his music.
We passed Fire Lake on a canoe trip in Minnesota this year. We watched the first day the Greenwood fire started and smelled that smoke as we passed Fire Lake again on our way out. This song was stuck in my head .
One of my favorite Bob Seger songs.
Marilyn Snider me too. Little underrated. The underlying vocals and the women's vocals in the chorus are amazing.
That's The Eagles singing the chorus--very recognizable especially at the end.
That's The Eagles all right!!!
Marilyn Snider this is my second favourite by Seger. Only topped by Night Moves

The beginning of this video is just amazing to me because this is the way me and my husband first started off on our very first Chopper before we bought several Harleys he didn't have back foot pegs so I had to wrap my legs around him what an awesome video Bob Rocks!! rest in peace to my husband cancer bites

Growing up in Michigan, this man was as much a part of my summers, and falls, and winters as my own family. Makin' Thunderbirds, Horzontial Bop, Katmandoo, need I say more? A driv'in beat like the assembly line, and good honest Rock n' Roll! Detroit Rock city.............
When I hear about the Detroit sound, I think of Bob Seger. I know there are many others up there who are top notch, but Seger is it for me.
He is most definitely PURE MICHIGAN
I love all of Bob Seger, but this is my all time favorite!
You know you're a bad ass when the Eagles sing back up for you
Facts!💯
TRUE THAT
As a matter of fact, they wanted him to replace glen frey. he very appreciatedly declined. he had escaped the entanglements of fame and fortune and did not want to get caught up again.
Glenn and henley also sang backnups in " Against the Wind" sonf.
They believe in bob seger
One of the greatest artist of all time great music 😊
Love this song! It always takes me back to my summers as a teenager, and I always wanted to go to "Fire Lake."
Maybe one of Seger's best CLASSICs and to me personally YES one of the best
Great Bob song, with back up vocals and accompanying chords from the harmonist in the Eagles, Henley, Schmidt, and Frey.
Thanks...never knew that. Wasn't Frey from Michigan as well ?
chad7206 Yes, Glen Frey and Bob are from Detroit. Oh, (where are my manners?) you are very welcome. Now that you know, you can obviously tell it's them can't you?
Rusty Martell glen hung out with seger before the eagles were even a band. he learned a lot from bob. who wouldn't? thanks for reading.
onemorebrando I think I read somewhere like 398 years ago (lol) that Jackson Browne ran with those two for a while as well? Would you know anything about that?
yes
I remember buying this album. I burnt this album up. Against the wind. it has bob's best. i never got to see Bob, but i did once and the booze and divorce was kicking me in the head every morning i woke up. go to work and get drunk. I was messed up and now it's going on 28 year's since I've been clean. I had more than once after i got clean, but i remarried and had another child and i was having travel to work and the free time i got back then i went home to my family. Bob played a big part of my life growing up and he'll always be the best.
I am now. In my seventies but I still 💕 Mr Bob Seger music God bless Bob❤ bless bless you ❤
Love Don, Glenn, and Timothy's voices. It makes me appreciate the song even more.
Wish we still had Glenn!

One of my absolute favorite songs of his … the harmony with the Eagles is the best. Goosies every single time.
Yes, the epitome of freedom…riding motorcycles in the southern states back then and listening to Bob Seger. It is an experience hard to replicate in today’s hard driving digital world.
"I DO!!" My father & mother split just before my 4th bday. My father was a Union man/ biker & loved to travel. We lived in Phoenix AZ, where I was born & my when our folks split, my older brothers told me NOT to go with pop, cause " DAD'S going to the Mountains where THE DEVIL LIVES"( He was headed for Colorado...the Rockies🤔😒😆, & we were ALREADY surrounded by mountains. Kids...lol). Any what's...their ploy to avert my leaving with my father FAILED, & we traveled ALL OVER the country before we got to ' The Devil's Rockies'. Point of the story( sorry)..We took our 1978 Lincoln Continental the whole trip, usually blasting his 8 tracks, & THIS PARTICULAR song freaked me out at first....until He & I began chanting " I DO" ..meaning WE wanted to go to ' Fire Lake' or WHEREVER we were told NOT to go cause dammit...this was OUR ADVENTURE & DEVIL BE DAMMED, BUT WE WEREN'T GOIN BACK!!!😆😂😁🤣 My father was a Mountain man & a MAN AMONG MEN, & I actually feel his loss in my SOUL if that makes any sense. " I DO!!". Lol
I feel that loss. Lost my dad 3 years ago. A peice of my soul went with him. I miss him more than ever.
