One of the very few complaints I have is this: I miss having something in the title, beyond the commanders being played (Pay the man and Punch the Hippo, for example). Other than that, keep it up! Edit: As an idea for this game, you could go with, "Tatyova vs 74 Negates."
Eddie’s deck taking up a majority of the episode kind of highlights the biggest thing i dislike about this series- there such a general discrepancy in power levels in some videos that it kind of takes the wind out of the sails, or stomps so hard that i never get to see what interesting stuff Mitch or anyone else has brought to the table. If everyone’s budgets/power levels were more aligned, the games would be so much more interesting to watch. Which is a a shame because if love all of you guys and the videos and the cast and the format, just the content falls flat sometimes because half the time someone other than Mitch brings a big beefy and expensive Simic deck and ends the game before it starts
I haven't watched every Close Quarters video, but every time I do, Eddie wins with Simic or simic adjacent and takes up the majority of screen time with very long turns. I wish someone would go back and record the amount of time dedicated to Eddie's turns in each game compared to the others. His decks always seems to ignore any budget constraints, and IMO fails to capture the spirit of the game and channel. It's one thing to enjoy a certain color combination, but liking simic is not an interesting personality trait. It feels like the person who thinks they are good at Goldeneye and only plays as Oddjob.
@@jacobholliday9905 my problem isn't with simic, my problem is that every time he brings he a deck it's basically the same deck but a different dude manning the front desk. And it's not just Eddie, Eddie is just the biggest commonality between the epsidoes and this issues. Usually it's like mitch is the only one that makes this show any different that discount game knights
I get what you're saying. However. The guy on Eddie's right, was clearly using a more expensive deck than Eddie was and still lost handily. Your deck's budget doesn't necessarily indicate its power. I have 8 decks currently ranging from around $100 to around $550 for my most expensive deck. My top 2 decks are my 2 LEAST expensive ones of the 8. And as for Eddie taking up more time, that's just his preferred gameplay style. Simic can have long turns, but I find them fun to watch. Everyone has their own things in magic they lean towards whether it's card draw, or counters, or stealing, or particular tribes and colors. Personally I don't find it a problem, although I can see how some might feel this way.
I love the new video quality. Good work. It's awesome to see commander game play that uses rule 0 to add more fun to the format. I loved the juxtaposition of how fun it was to watch The Baron's awesomely creative build unfold while simultaneously hurting from watching Eddie's painfully creative build combo off. Bravo 👏👏👏
I know right? Honestly it's starting to get obnoxious that he's winning easily 80% of these games. Does the guy just have God-tier luck or is he playing borderline cEDH while everyone else is playing casual?
It just seems that the power levels of decks brought to the table aren't as balanced or more balanced. Eddie is a great player but he also, usually seems to bring the strongest deck to the table.
I saw your video on the Prismatic Bridge deck with one creature and I was super excited to see it in action. Kinda shame that we couldn't, but that's true for a lot of your decks.
While the editing, camera and sound are amazing, especially in the new studio, it was quite hard to understand Baron. I also said this before on a video but these would be a lot more fun if decks were on a similar level in terms of budget. Sometimes these games are just one person absolutely dominating everyone else and while I don't mind seeing that from time to time, I believe that there are people who don't.
I dont think there were any proxies in the deck, eddie just had a placeholder in his deck then the real card in a clear sleeve so that he didnt have to keep flipping them in the regular sleeves. Its a common practice in higher level play because if your opponent can see that one of your sleeves is different from the rest (ie: using the kinda see through sleeves like dragonshield’s clear blue or clear purple sleeves), you can get DQ’d from a tourney for “marked cards.” Some people take it so far as to try and get a DQ off of one sleeve having a dinged up corner from shuffling too hard and make that an entire strategy.
I had a buddy go top 8 at a local tourney just to get dq’d for exactly that so he now suggests that anyone playing at high levels, if you get to through the early stages of it, get a fresh pack of sleeves just to be safe.
New studio seems fine as far as cameras and video goes; You guys just REALLY need a different mic setup. Mitch is the only one who consistently projects his voice in a manner that makes it very easy to hear. Everyone else can sound a bit low and fuzzy and inaudible. Maybe you guys need some lapel mics or something?
Do you guys normally skip "missed" triggers when they are not a may trigger ? I've always been of the opinion of when you spot a missed mandatory trigger you fix it and resolve that ability as it can affect outcome
@@akorthouwer no smart ass. More like the missed triggers on midnight clock specifically since it's not a may trigger and forces a shuffle of the hand on its twelfth counter. Not specifically, an end of turn slime counter from something like Toxxril. If you "miss" it those counters should be there and be corrected whether or not it is beneficial to the controller or the table. More trolling or are you done?
1) No. 2) There are plenty of non-toxic answers for what Eddie was doing. 3) MLD wouldn't really have stopped him since a lot of his first pop off turn was fueled by treasures not lands and the turn that was lethal saw many of his lands enter that turn.
@@markbrierley6367 The banlist defines a format; you saying mdl is toxic is an attempt to limit what can be played inside said format. It's not the same thing. One determines a cardpool for everyone to use, the other is you complaining at a specific strategy just because you don't like it personally. You not liking it doesn't mean it's toxic.
@@diegopicchetto5250 I agree my not liking it only means I find it toxic, but a majority of players and much of the rules committee and the format creators holding that opinion does make it a majority opinion. Look at the banlist. 6 of the cards on the main list are mass mana/resource denial only edged out by fast mana/super ramp at 13 because of 6 of those are in the power 9 & the moxen are the same card. And those two categories are more than half the list.
Its very likely that you could find a more casual pod thats cool with it AS LONG AS YOU TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT FIRST, but you also have to be perfectly willing to accept it and grab a different deck if they say no.
I was really hopping Baron was sitting on a settle the wreckage for the ultimate backlash on attacking with all your lands when you have no lands left in the deck
Eddie said he had 21 lands in play and 38 total in the deck. 16 lands would be pulled out because he said two nonbasics were in the deck and one is in play. He would draw 48 cards off of tatyova triggers.
Am I the only one 🤔 wondering what Motch was going to get off of that Prismatic Bridge trigger? Like what was the point of the deck he was running real strange cards
Im not 100% sure if this works, but i think if eddie had targeted a clone with the rite of replication, he would have had 5 clones enter the battlefield and then had the ability to have some of them be elvish rejuvenator and some be provisioners because layers.
Ofcourse Mitch has the 5 colors and Eddie is playing Simic 😂

Would it be close quarters if they weren’t?

2 rainbow and 2 simic decks. That’s pure Commander’s Quarters energy right there
