Hey everyone! You may have noticed some changes on this new Close Quarters episode. I am always working hard to improve this series and I would love your feedback on it! Thanks in advance!
Hey Mitch! This was super clear and concise, maybe just cut when people take time to think and don't inform us. I personally don't think it's necessary. Maybe some more chat about plays and what they mean for the context of the game. Otherwise this is awesome dude! You've improved this series so much and it's really appreciated!!
Lmao knew that was going to be commented as soon as I saw it 😂 I always try for at least 3 basics of the colors even in a 5 color deck but sometimes I'll take 1 out. But damn only had 2 basic plains in a 2 color deck??
Joe and Mitch(!) accidentally forgot to include me. Anyway, my lowest TCGPlayer market price is currently $2.08 for my Fifth Dawn printing. PS: There is a Timeless Witness token!
I love that you guys do not only explain the game mechanics with those pop-up post-it, but you also explain things like "j'accuse" at 25:45 with pop references. That's both hilarious and kind.
I really appreciate Close Quarters, and enjoy watching it! I always relearn card interactions. EDH is my fave format right now, and this show is my favorite for EDH coverage. You rock!
Hot damn! It's always so good to see the Boys from QFTJL and it's always so good to see a new Close Quarters, so getting them both together is super-special-awesome!
Here is a card Joe can put in hes Yarok deck, "Faerie Artisans." So you get 2x tokens from them and if the creature the opponent played has a ETB trigger you get 4x triggers XD
I always enjoy these episodes, so keep them coming :D I think this video was a lesson for all... The more you let someone (coughEddiecough) search for lands, the greater their chances of drawing good cards instead of lands. And as Eddie showed in this game, that hand full of lands might get exchanged for things you wish they didn't have.
Eddie either is the superior deck builder, gets really lucky with his draws or has higher powered decks every time but I feel like he wins the majority of the games at least the ones on camera
Eddie vs mitch is a 1000 bucks deck centered around a well known powerful commander vs a 100 bucks deck centered around a lesser known less strong theme. It’s of course super likely eddie will win almost every game between the two of them. Just the remark in the game about an ashnod’s altar and Mitch kind of saying it’s out of budget. That’s the difference between the two people and their decks. Mitch builds a synergy while eddie would build a combo.
@@leviram4089 Edh ranked #8 commander is more obscure than one ranked #256? And before Neon Dynasty Sisay was the go to shrines commander. Give the guy some credit, he builds good decks.
1:01:17 I myself was more of a Moby and Zoe fan in SSX Tricky. I feel the same way about the music. So good and the DJ in 3 was awesome. I was sad to see Eddie relegated to basically a skin in 3. For my money SSX Tricky and SSX 3 where the high points of the whole series.
I wish my Esper could ramp like Boros just did. I run around _twenty_ ramp sources (more or less, depending on your definition), at least fifteen of which cost 2 or less, and I'm _still_ lucky to open any at all without having to mulligan multiple times.
For a spell to "fizzle", all targets need to be illegal. If there is at least one target remaining, it will do as much as it can which was the damage to the non-hexproof creature.
@@vincentmccue7481 I thought that's why people don't run Decimate? For reference "Destroy target artifact, target creature, target enchantment, and target land."
@@DoylePrime No, people don't run decimate because you can't cast it unless you have all 4 targets, but once it is cast, it will resolve even if say someone sacrifices a creature.
"J'accuse...!" was an open letter published on 13 January 1898 in the newspaper L'Aurore by the influential writer Émile Zola. In the letter, Zola addressed President of France Félix Faure and accused the government of anti-Semitism and the unlawful jailing of Alfred Dreyfus, a French Army General Staff officer who was sentenced to lifelong penal servitude for espionage.
Hey Mitch, so good to see new content! Some feedback I believe you would really benefit from: Said with love: those sticky notes are absolutely horrible. The new design is SO cool though, it's quite calming and a good flow! Having the arrow-change over is sooo much better than the black screen and text from before. If you want to keep the text of 'what goes on that rarely ever is interesting', maybe find something that fits the theme of the background/piggy bank, rather than the sticky notes? Also, I think the two player-screens should be without their right-side border, so it just attaches to the board-screens border. That way it doesn't seem disconnected between the 4 players, and the room comes more together. Hoping for a lot more episodes soon! Live long and blame Eddie
Was a fun game, but Eddie hade the win guaranteed if he enlightened tutored during Joe's end step instead of the valikut awakening, he ended up getting lucky though so it didn't mater. #blameeddie
Shout out to the six other film nerds who laughed out loud at the Back to the Future joke. ✊ Edit: I really dig the changes. You got it all. Facecams, turn counters, life counters, card preview, and even the little notes explaining the edits and making jokes and such. Nice touch. fairly minimal glare on cards. The only improvement I could see made it the lighting, which is fairly well done but pretty flat. I understand the reasoning with what I assume is a green/digi green/blue screen but you can shape it around the players. Then with a little more fiddling, probably get rid of even the least glare on the clearest card, no matter the sleeves. You don't have to live like this. Holla at your MN local neighborhood Best Boy Electric/Gaffer.
I'd say there was definitely a power gap between decks played here but eh that's just what happens sometimes when you have a powerful deck and all you get is the ramp. Three decks with blue and not one single counterspell is hilarious. Also me: searches to find a game where Eddie had a bad game wanting some vindication for his good luck...fail to find lol
I feel like using Timeless Witness to recast Yarock instead of grabbing cultivate and putting him in the command zone didn't actually save any mana in the long run but I could be wrong

I second what Odhran said.
Just thankful for more great episodes. Your gameplay videos are second to none!
i really like this new overlay!
Layout and sound are great!
Eddie has taught us a valuable lesson about a certain minimum of basic lands...that miss on the search was glorious.

It doesn't matter what kind of color combination Eddie plays, in his heart, he's always playing Simic
YAY! I love the Janklord team, I am waiting to see them all seated playing at their dungeon soon.
I love these post-it notes they are a great addition! Keep up the good work and keep the content coming!

loving the "Pop Up Video" effects!

I love the video format with the notes popping up

Your hard work definitely shone through wonderful work!
The dog failing to find a land was a little ruff
But he does have Vigilance. In other words, he protecc, he attac, but most important, he no fetch Plains bacc.
Always a good day when I see a new episode of Close Quarters :)

It's so common in pods to have one person be a recurring archenemy, and the dynamic with Eddie is so fun to watch every time he manages to pull ahead.
Because he is good at deck building and doesn't restrict himself to budget.
Hot damn! It's always so good to see the Boys from QFTJL and it's always so good to see a new Close Quarters, so getting them both together is super-special-awesome!
Fun deck idea could be Firesong and sunspeaker dragons approach
the first 7 minutes of this game has to be hands down the most prolific amount of ramping I've ever seen in a pod xD that was nutty
Damn I just love paper Magic so much!!! Always so much fun to watch, another great video guys!!!
Hail to the Janklord! But also it is so weird to see you guys with fetch lands, those can't be under 79 cents!
Looks like a great pod. Good luck gentlemen!
Eddie making boros feel like simic. Great game fellas!

I'm in love with the Zelda Ancient Tomb

Great video, super enjoyable and hilarious! Love your channel
Yay, more closequarters! I love this series.
The best commander gameplay there is!!
That opening song is a bop !!!!

I love these gameplay episodes, just wish you would put them out more frequently.
Ed, Edd, & Eddy, SSX Tricky, and Legend of Zelda? Cultured gentlemen, the lot of you.
Hey! Looks like a fun game!
Edit: Heyyy, wait a minute why are the QFTJL people playing non budget? Did they finally escape the demon?
Fingers crossed Eddy gets to use a star of extension board wipe. Dying to see that play with F&S.
Couple it with Repercussion for an out of nowhere win against a packed board :)
I like the pop up video pop ups.
Eddie having 501 life is one of the reasons I love Mill decks
Or just plain old commander damage

@33:30 - There is a token for Timeless Witness. I got one in a pack.
How do you have 3 plains in a boros deck where all the ramp cards are for plains
Jon’s deck: “oops all changelings”

Can I ask why he has Loyal Warhound in the deck but it is missing in the Decklist from eddie down in the description?
Look out! Eddy's got a fist full of mountains!
44:35 "I'm playing with peasants" had me laughing.
Good thing Eddie learned his lesson from failing to find and played all basics in his Kahmal/Sakasheema deck.

Shouldn't the hexproof from the heroic intervention make the targeting spell "fizzle"? Since not all of its targets were legal upon resolution?

What life counter are you using?
maybe it was already answered but is that Zelda ancient tomb available somewhere? It looks so good.

@The Commander's Quarters. Mitch, why did you not search for Blackblade Reforged first, so you could search for almost anything after that???
When Eddie played molten disaster he did 20 in total to players and 15 to creatures for a total of 35, so he should have gained 30 not 25
