I met him in Bangalore in 2005 in chandrashekhar home.nisargadatta maharaj, who is elder than UG said same thing. The man who tells you that he will change the world is most dangerous. Stay away from him.
In short, he say we are not the doer , it is the universe that causes all the changes but again he suggest not to follow anyone.

Though his thinking about the knowledge we have been imposed and how we are now seem to have some 'validity' for the current ways of life, civilization. He also claimed that he his thinking is unique, and he said he is freed from all his readings and experiences he had but his conversations are based on his experiences. For example, he jumped form India, London to USA, to Russia, all his deeds and academic endeavors. He even cited many examples from his experiences as well.If that is so then still the thinking he hold and his words cant be his own in anyway. He is just indenial. One of his claims form this interview is , he said "the BODY is immortal". He added that "The body is useful for many organisms, both alive and died state. Is that all about being immortal-ness can be comprehend?
In addition, the very essence of ‘ walking away’ at the age of 50 by it self doesn’t make him a normless human or super or something. Actually, I didn’t see any waking way at all. He is just tired and he needs change. I would say, Good for him. Let him go where ever he wantes to go. But what makes him delusional is the other people’s reaction and wanted to convince him. If you let him alone, you will see how he would be react and come up with a different version of him. It is the attention given to him makes him to build ‘this ideal state of mind’.
