This is why I laugh when people give credit to Ryan Reynolds for chasing down a role for 9 years. By all means, he got it and Im glad for him. However, it's definitely a Channing Tatum "Here, hold my gumbo" moment. Dude has been chasing Gambit since 2005, when he was originally cast as him for the third Xmen movie. Which is ironically, Gambit being cut from the movie for special effects budget, is how he was cast in She's the Man, with Amanda Bynes. As an apology from the producer. That being said, every time the movie is greenlit, he is cast (Save for W:O where Taylor Kitsch played his dream role, because I think he was filming GI Joe), yet only to go nowhere. Then... FINALLY, it was actually going to happen. Two years after the last time but it was coming togther with serious effort. With the success of Deadpool, it showed that you can have a successful "Xmen movie" without the Xmen... or Wolverine. Kind of like what Sony is doing with Morbius, Venom and Madame Web. So Fox was moving behind it to make it sort of in the same vein as Deadpool. Not the comedy, but that dark, Rated R action, like with New Mutants. Then Disney bought them.

And he was dr david on queer as folk
OH SHIT! I didn't even realize that...now looking at him I can definitely see it and I definitely would if his hair was black.
That's where I first saw him. And fell head over heels in love! 😍🤪😁
He made me love Remy
Gambit was only 2 years old when X-Men cartoon came out. His first appearance was in X-Men I forgot what issue but it was in 1990.
Everyone can relax...Gambit has returned.
DAMN he looks like he could be Gambit's father
love my X-MEN and Gambit is hands down one of my fav X
90s X-MEN it will never stop from been a crucial event of my life
Subbed you in the name of X-MEN bro
Thanks so much! We hope to do more in the future if we can
I grew up with this series and I loved it, it was such a big part of Saturday mornings during my childhood. I really wish Gambit did show up in the movies. They dropped the ball with that.
Wow so glad I watched this. I just finished the new X-men 97. As a kid watching original series, I had huge crush on Gambit. I thought he was so sweet and handsome. NOW AS AN ADULT Chris too is SO Handsome , heck wonder what his younger self looked like too. So thoughtful , especially about how X-men wasn’t dumbed downed for kids. It’s so true. Enough to be relevant to this day. Bravo sir! Thank you
(Edit: whoa just realized this is from 4 yrs ago!!! )
I was first introduced to Chris from his work with David Carradine on “Kung Fu - The Legend Continues”, then a hell of a run with Gambit on X-Men and then I found him again in his amazing role on Heartland.
Chris Potter RULES.
What I want to know is why wasn't this guy hired to voice Gambit in the Marvel vs. Capcom games? There's not one person who wouldn't have wanted to hear him shout attack names like "Kinetic Card!" or "Royal Flush!"
Best Gambit, best X-men adaptation.
I had such a crush on Gambit because of Chris Potter's voice in the animated series. 💗
Makes sense for him to use his familiarity of Québecois to develop the Cajun accent
I remember watching Mr. Potter on that TV series, “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues”. He was so handsome back then…still is…one of my childhood crushes. ❤
He's coming back
wow there is a resemblance and he is very handsome.
I could see him playing an older gambit in a MCU version of the future, his voice would floor people.
Oh my, he even looks like Gambit! Be still my heart 💗. He will forever be my favorite Cajun.
He needs to be part of the casting for Gambit for future X-Men films
XMen '97 🎉
We miss you moname
Don't Mess With The Xmen-Gambit
Cool guy. Good job
Great guy and very funny sense of humor. Very interesting knowing how the voice of Gambit came to be and can't wait for his return in X-men 97 :)
What's crazy is I know Chris Potter as an actor from a couple of movies. But in 2021, I'm only finding out that all this time he was the voice of Gambit 🤯
"Well I have nothing else to do." Awesome
This actor also plays Tim on heartland! Great to see how much work he's had!!!
I see he really adopted his personality.
I wish he could have played Gambit in the 97 series, he does the accent so good heun?
While some interviewers get to ask Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, and George Buza of their input about their live action counterparts like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Anna Paquin as Rogue, and Kelsey Grammer/Nicholas Hoult as Beast, I'm always curious to know what would Chris Potter think of Taylor Kitsch, his live action counterpart Gambit, if he ever watches X-Men Origins Wolverine movie.
