Nate looks at his dad as a hypocrite. He knows his dark secrets but his dad puts on these airs of hyper masculinity. He’s forcing all these ideas of masculinity down his throat while Nate is covering up for his dads secret life. He’s blackmailing Jules because of his dad and his family’s reputation while dealing with his own sexual identity . And the fact that Cal was criticizing Nate’s leadership after the game was the straw that broke the camels back. He feels like who are you to tell me how I fail when you live a lie.

I disagree with what Pat say 97% of the time, but there is no way a dad will just walkaway from his son when he gets in his face like that and tell him to cool off. Yeah that would be a positive way of de-escalating a situation, but every single father I know would not back down from their son posturing up to them and disrespecting them like Nate did to Cal. Shit even Danny Tanner wouldn’t take that.
With that being said, Cal is a shitty human and Dad.

If Cal took a back step in that moment it would've validated Nate's actions. If he "won" that exchange he would've continued to challenge Cal's authority in the future because it worked previously. The same reason why you don't give a child what he/she wants after they throw a tantrum, because then the child will think throwing tantrums = getting what I want

I think Pat has a point, Nate started the aggression and Cal restrained him. Cal has done plenty of terrible things so I’m not defending him but Nate has never communicated his issues so Cal is not going to assume how much hatred Nate has. Chris's point of kicking the kid out is an option but I personally think restraining the kid is the better option if you want to rebuild a relationship of father and son.

I agree with Pat for once. The relationship between Nate and Carl is similar to that of an Alpha dog and his pack. The beta male pushes the boundaries, seeks weakness, and asserts dominance, and if the Alpha doesn't respond, he is replaced. In this instance, Nate would no longer have a reason to fear his father. To Nate, physical dominance is the last hurdle to being free from his father.

Nate 100% needs therapy. I think he freaked out like that when his dad was on him, pinning him, probably because it made him think back to the videos he’s seen for years now. Let’s not lie, if your life was as fucked as Nate’s and then you have your very homosexual dad pinning you down aggressively like you had seen him do to countless men, you’d probably freak out too 😅

My theory to this day about the whole Nate's mental health and behavior is like He is actually bisexual and bc of his traumas with his dad's video and the hatred toward his dad and especially his dad's sexuality (since for Nate his dad being gay is what really destroyed everything in his family) really took his self hatred (all queer people go through that bc of society and especially our inner circle take on queerness) to the most extreme level. That also explains why he searches for women who have literally not a single trace of what you will consider "masculine" with Maddy being the embodiment of that.
He hates himself so much for also liking men just like his dad.

  • @fleurgi

The 'Salt the earth behind you' is not referring to the reference in the bible. It is more akin to the Romans defeating their long-time enemies the Carthaginians or Phonecians, When the last of the Punic wars happened, they killed the people of Carthage and took survivors as slaves. Then they salted the land so that nothing would grow there again.

I'm sorry but y'all can't tell Maddy is scared of that boy. Yes, she lied about rape and was wrong for that period but everything after that should tell you she does fear him.......but she loves him at the same time. It's not that she WANTS a toxic relationship. Even though Nate does the bare minimum for her she loves that...... she's a teenager..... it's enough for her to ignore his red flags. Unlike most girls who would've exposed Nate for possibly liking guys the minute he pisses her off she doesn't and even tries to talk to him about it because she thinks she's in love with him. This man literally choked her out you think she wants him for that reason 😕

He does have a point. If i know i'm doing the right thing then everyone should treat me like i'm doing the right thing, they should be celebrating my right decision instead people are treating me like i'm losing something. I'm not losing, i'm gaining so stop with the gloomy shit. But then you have to also face reality that a lot of people think you made the wrong decision, a lot of people want to make your decision illegal and if you're Cassie who cares a lot about how people view her, i can imagine that would be a very crushing experience devoid of any celebration.

I honestly dont blame Nate's dad for much. I blame nate. Yes he did have sex with jules and she was underaged (which he didnt know) and is ( I cant think of his sexuality right now) but nate was fine before he broke into his dads locked drawer and saw what he was into. That's what had nate start to question what Gender he likes and started having these issues. Now am I saying he's a perfect father ? No because what you shouldn't do is leave your child laying down on the ground having a meltdown. But he was giving nate great advice and nate and some audience members ( Not these guys tho) like Nate wouldn't listen because he thought his dad was being a hypocrite. Which he technically wasn't. Nate's dad is a ok parent that made a mistake and should've been honest but waaay far off from being a bad one.
There's parents that dont even feed there kids and they eat bugs, they beat them and everything. some only use them for money.
