I have both of them. So I already got the comparison test before. In exactly the same way. The result was very similar to your result. And I found out the club markers(reflective stickers) interrupt and obstruct ball detection of Skytrak. So now I am using Square Golf only. To use skytrak, I have to remove those silver stickers from my club. I don't know which data is better. But SqG. is more convenient. The Driving range of Skytrak is much better than one of Square G. But I am using GSPro now.
i have skytrak but i would definetly recommend SquareGolf.. its just miles way better than skytrak and no pay needed to get all data. all in all squaregolf its the future of launch monitors i can bet on it (budget) and it competes even with 7k LaunchMonitors.
Mitch, I know it’s a big ask, but is there a possibility you could do the GS Pro combine test with the square launch monitor please before I finally pull the trigger? I think it would make a great video and plenty of people would like to see it. Thanks mate 🤙
Been enjoying the content, I’m currently building my setup and was originally thinking mevo+ but the square is starting to sway me a little. Keep up the great content.
I went with Square over Mevo+ because it’s my first build. I can upgrade down the road if this doesn’t give me what I want, but for the price it’s pretty unbeatable. Good luck!
Hi Mitch, did this with the Mevo + and Square, the Square was good but the Mevo+ had everything going left, must be interference from Square. I have had a Mevo+ for 3 years and on it's own is awesome for the price only short chips and putts let it down. I have totally moved to Square now and it integrates with GSPro after the last GSPro connector update is awesome, £700, wow.
I did the same as I wanted to start now with my iPad, even if I have to hit into a net. I was dead set on getting the Garmin R10, then The Skytrak+ due to the room. After seeing mixed reviews on the Skytrak+, I decided the Eye Mini Lite would be better as I wanted to play sim golf with chipping and putting. Then the Square came out and decisions. I saw the ST+ for $1,600 and grabbed it, a demo unit. Because of the iPad capability I bought a Square too, as it’s no subscriptions. My 1st comparison, the ST+ disconnected at least 1/2 a dozen times in direct mode. The Square read instantly, the numbers were similar enough, the the ST+ struggled with chips and putts. I boxed it up and sent it back. Get the Square, at 2-4 times the cost, the Skytrak+ wasn’t as good as the Square. I practice at least 25 putts with my Square every time I take it out. The Square is cheaper and better in my opinion. If it turns out bad, or has issues down the line, I would get a Bushnell Launch Pro.
Fair comparison as they're both budget photometric launch monitors! While the Skytrak is from 2014 it still holds its own, but there's just too many downsides to recommend it today. Spin and shot shape discrepancies aside, there are many quality of life issues. Newer technology and cheaper, square is difficult to beat as the new budget king.
Do you use the Skytrak alignment where it displays 2 dots to align it. Must be interference MyGolfSpy the folks that test everything golf published this Carry difference Average % Difference VS GC4 Skytrak+ 2.5% Square 9% Spin Rate Average % Difference VS GC4 Skytrak+ 4.8% Square 18%
I love my OG skytrak although it has a draw bias for sure. The need for dotted balls put me off the Square. The Garmin R50 looks accurate but has lots of features I won't use as I'm currently GSPro user. So, I'm waiting on the PGA show in Jan 2025 to find out whether there is anything newer and better coming in the next year that is worth waiting/waving for.
Just because the sky track is straight in the sim they had massive issues with alignment. I remember when I had mine years ago I had to have it slightly aiming to the right for it be a straight shot
Which ball are you using ? I think this video confirms that Square golf just killed the MLM2 . Rapsodo just are taking way to long to do any thing . Square took 2 months to get GSpro integration . Its been 2 years with the MLM2 and still nothing . I don't care for videos of my swing or taking it to the range . I just want to play GSpro and the unit seems to be accurate . I can only imagine how much better they will get . I got 6 months left in my MLM2 subscription and then its hello Square !! Keep doing these updates . I used to watch you long ago and have only rediscovered you again . What is this new space you have ? Is it in your home ? Looks great like Harry Shaws place .
Don’t know if it makes a difference but square golf has the ball marked as if it’s on a TEE. And it was a driver. So I think you might have to fix that. And run the tests again
It is so hard to get true comparisons with units that are finicky about placement/alignmnet/etc. This is likely a huge issue we are seeing here. Skytrak likes a patterned ball, which could mean the dotted square ball would be ideal but do we know skytrak likes it? Id love this test with a 3rd "assumed correct control" of a higher end overhead monitor (uneekor, gshawk). The real issue with this not being super scientific is that there is no actual factual "correct" reading to compare. Its easy to say "I feel the skytrak/square is right here" but that's speculation and there's a huge "maybe" going on every swing. Still, fun to watch. I owned a Skytrak for a couple of years and found it to be pretty great. Longer clubs I found didn't quite register the higher ball speeds (struggled with 160mph and kind of plateaued around 150ish) but everything else was great - especially carry distances and spin with wedges once I realized how well it liked taylormade PIX balls. I took my sim down in te back yard/garden, Thinking about buying the square for indoor putting, backyard chipping/pitching practice and occasional range use (i know it doesn't suggest outdoor but covered range with mats should be ok). Great video.
Hey Mitch do you have problems with your skytrak reading chips. That’s the only problems I seem to be having with mine. I’m new to the sim world so any tips would be appreciated.
I don't think the skytrack cameras are perfectly square to the box.... I find I have to situate my skytrack, a degree or two off kilter, sometimes to get center.
Some of your alignment issues appear to be caused your camera offset in the skytrak software. You appear to be hitting from a slightly right of center position with the units set parallel to the booth, meaning your target line needs to be further right to be parallel with your hitting position. Every time you hit the ball at the line, the unit sees it as going left because you are hitting left of the parallel line.
Was looking forward to seeing this however the two units clearly interfering with each other 😩 I think Il go with square just on speed of the shots showing and how good it already is, with the potential to get better with updates. I hope they change the range though it looks shit and needs a centerline with a metric for offline 👌

lol so I posted on another video asking you for this comparison and you already made it! Watching now lmao.

The disconnections and no reads with SkyTrak are definitely frustrating
No regrets with the Square after a few weeks of owning
Good to hear 🙌🏼⛳️
Just wondering if you could use the club angle on the Square to determine which unit was more accurate.
Is it possible all ghe dots on an the swuare ball is messing with skytraks camera?

I’ve never had to aim slightly off centre with mine it’s always been pretty solid aligning it straight
@ I had one of the original skytrak when they first were released and it was a known issue. Glad they sorted it out
Hey bud I know you had problems with setting up skytrak when I download app it give me a pop up on desktop but keeps giving me an error for the 5.1.1
Hmm I'm not too sure mate. All I'd suggest is delete and redownload the app? If anyone else reads this and knows the solution, please let us know
@ but it does work on the version before that one but I still can’t network connect

No not really. Place your ball an inch in front of the red dot that usually does the trick
@ I’ll try that. It doesn’t read a lot of my chips or wedges in general. Thanks for the reply I enjoy watching your videos.
Try that and also have the logo of the ball facing the SkyTrak 👍🏼
@@hcpgolf will do. Thanks.

Tried to buy one. No longer available?
They likely sold out.
Which site did you try? I do believe they’re sold out most places currently
What about the opityshot novo. Can you review that please looks good for £1750
I’ll see if I can get hold of one 👍🏼
Not sure why you didn’t just aim the sky track a bit left. That’s what you’re supposed to do.
I’ve owned SkyTrak for years and have never had to aim it a bit left?
@ mine could be finicky sometimes. I would take some chip shots to make sure the ball was reading correctly based on where it hit the screen.
Square seems okay but the balls worry me and the actual quality worries me. many units are defective from soldering problems
Was looking forward to seeing this however the two units clearly interfering with each other 😩 I think Il go with square just on speed of the shots showing and how good it already is, with the potential to get better with updates. I agree it would be nice to see an offline metric
Doesn't look like you have the square position correctly to the ball it's supposed to be in a 6 x 6 square 16.5 inches in front of the unit
The Square read every shot 👍🏼
Trackman is the best. All comparisons should be done with trackman. Not other budget units.
That SQUARE thing is such a badly constructed unit. Cheap and nasty. 😢
If you are concerned about interference between the 2 units, then your entire comparison is invalid.
