I had a kind of passing interest in Bad Religion from when I first saw them on Rage TV and bought the New Maps album. Just recently I watched the 4 Decades shows and had a sudden realisation.... How did I not get into these guys earlier?! Not only is the music awesome, but thanks to the interviews I discovered these guys are just great people. And now the expensive part: I have started buying their CD back catalogue 😜
Same. I was always aware of them over the last 12-18 years that I was into alternative music. The last two years I cannot get enough. Absolutely love them.
I was a product of the 80s listening to a lot of glam metal. In high school, someone gave me a Fugazi tape and that was amazing to hear. We all discover punk one way or another.
Really solid guitar player and probably a really nice guy. But I would take his opinions on politics with a huge grain of salt. When the punks said "fuck authority", I didn't know that it meant they wanted to make love to it.
Brian is a genius! Awesome guitar player and funny too! I can't wait to see Bad Religion live again someday. I saw them twice in Argentina. Now, I'm in the US. Hopefully, we get to obliterate Covid19 soon so that we can enjoy live music again. Great interview, btw...
Great show--longtime BR fan here, but also someone who absolutely disagrees with the assessment you guys both have about the current political situation. The other side is not solely comprised of brainwashed rubes who are convinced of fantastic conspiratorial fairy tales. There are very, very good arguments against what Brian is calling the "sanity" of the new administration, and many reasons why rational, educated adults could and did choose the other alternative in the election. You guys are both very smart intellectuals--I'd recommend checking out some of the following books to gain greater insight into the perfectly valid reasoning behind opposition to the current administration: Discrimination and Disparities - Thomas Sowell The Parasitic Mind - Gad Saad The Madness of Crowds - Douglas Murray The Road to Serfdom - F.A. Hayek The Gulag Archipelago - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
@@k.q.594 Yeah I mean he really does seem a completely unhinged TDS sufferer on Twitter, so I agree with you 100% in that context. Trying to give him a fair shake as he does come off as charming, articulate, and well-read in interviews like this one. And Bad Religion is no doubt a prolific punk stalwart, and his contribution to that is undeniable. Amazing, talented, creative human. But one who has unfortunately guzzled the destructive and hate-filled koolaid of toxic leftist idealogy. When I first checked this out I started near the end with the Gray Race/Ric Ocasek discussion into the Folk discussion (I have also observed that punk and folk share so much). Did people really just have free time and money during the pandemic? I was working full time at a hospital during it all, kind of annoying hearing the privilege in people like this saying their biggest problem during the lockdown was boredom.
It always makes me laugh to see these “punk rockers” acquiescing to the lamestream media narrative!! These dudes made a career out of deconstructing all the political bullshit, only to find themselves promoting the propaganda.
What an absolute privilige is to listen to this guy. My ultimate guitar hero. Great interview. Cheers from Argentina.
Glad you enjoyed it! Greetings from Asbury Park
Bad religion are commie satanist scum. They’re not punk
@@charioteer88 - Gee… That sounds baseless and without legitimacy. Please explain how you’ve arrived at this garbage-ass conclusion.
@@charioteer88 hahahaha... Well, explain yourself then
FINALLY!!! It's great to see Brian on these long form podcasts and get the credit for his contributions to rock guitar.
Hey,, we agree. And thanks for checking out the podcast. Have a great day...
Love Brian’s insights. I won a snowboard and other crap in 1996 due to knowing bands he used to be in
Really enjoyable, thoughtful interview with a total legend. Excellent questions with humourous but honest answers. Thanks!
Glad you dug it!
It went so fast. Such a pleasant interview with such a legend. Thank you so much...Keep it real!!!
Hope to do it again sometime. Thank you for checking out the page

Have fun man, I wish i could rediscover those albums with fresh ears!
A lot of great albums in there. My personal faves are Stranger Than Fiction and The Gray Race

This reaffirms my love for Brian Baker and Bad Religion! I live in Philly so it’s great to see semi local dudes just shooting the shit

Yeah, Fugazi hit me hard too in high school. Repeater!!!!
Great interview with a punk hero. Thank you.
Thanks for checking it out. Hope you enjoy some other episodes as well...
One of the Best punk rock guitar player!
It's always such a pleasure to listen to Brian, great conversation.
We agree... thank you for listening.
Great to hear my favorite guitarist. Thank you for the interview.
Thank you for checking it out, Eugenio. Have a great day...
This is great....adding Public Enemy, Clash to this conversation with a great guitartis
!
Thank you for interviewing Brian. He's not only such an amazing guitarist, but also an interesting and intelligent man. Great interview.

Brian Baker is a legend!...I just wanted everyone to know.
Thanks for watchin the show!

Thank you so much for this interview. So grateful this video came up on my radar! Well done.
And we're grateful it did too. Thanks for tuning in
Really solid guitar player and probably a really nice guy. But I would take his opinions on politics with a huge grain of salt. When the punks said "fuck authority", I didn't know that it meant they wanted to make love to it.
I couldn’t agree more. Punk in the early 80’s (when I was going to shows) was F the establishment!
They're all spoonfed brain dead leftists. Punk rock was so much better before I saw them talk in interviews.
Man, this was mind blowing. Turned me onto so many great bands.
Yeah, there's so much good stuff out there. Its endless!
Hey Brian, rock on!
love that he is in the area now. Hope to run into him sometime! He's one of the best and this interview was terrific
Glad you dug it... thanks for tuning in!
This guy is a fuckin legend.
And a good guy too... excellent combination.
Can you get the rest of the band on too?
I wish u would of asked him who the one world govt leader is going to be...instead of pretending were on to some next level shit
So rad! I’ve watched him play at close to 30 venues! He is a rock superstar!
30! Damn... that's very cool. All with Bad Religion, or other bands too?
Aaaaaaand, Brian closes with Angus Young and Billy Gibbons references....this is worth an immediate rewatch
Indeed. Such great players,, with the rare distinction of having their own 'sound'
I'm so glad he picked BR over REM. He's the coolest guy in punk.
31:25 very punk rock 😂😂😂

Agreed. Hopefully they can make up the 40th Anniversary tour. Fingers crossed. Thank you for tuning in and checking out the podcast.
Brian baker is the funniest, and smartest guy in punkrawk
Appreciate you tuning it
First 3 Dag Nasty are awesome, very overlooked. "Hollywood" by Junkyard is awesome. Bad Religion sucks outside the first full length LP.
Why are interviews called podcasts now?
That's a great question. I struggle with these details too...
@@Lakehouserecordingstudios Imagine trying to get Graffin on the show, man! He should run for President.
How do you even become a producer?
