Steve, you're so kind at heart, and the world would be a better place if more people were like you
Don’t tell that the the ex wife😂
Good job Steve you're always trying to take care of the elderly people that's why you're so successful
Great guy. A real tech.
We have a 1991 RUUD and it is a BEAST!! Been damn reliable, needed almost nothing, and is choochin’ right now! These are excellent units, ours has a Tecumseh compressor and it is a sweetheart! As for QO Square D breakers, they are over rated JUNK. GE kicks them to the curb! I had to open up a used QO single pole GFCI breaker that wouldn’t reset after I stored it in a damp storage shed. I unlocked how these fail, and it is deliberately designed to fail. The mechanism for closing the contacts uses a hunk of thick CARDBOARD as a moving part, where the mechanism crosses the arc chute. The paper/cardboard wicks moisture out of the air, and swells up, binding the mechanism to the movable contact, causing it not to reset either on a trip out or switching it off. The regular, non GFCI ones use the exact same trip mechanism, and are a stupid design, and obviously designed to fail, since Square D KNOWS the breakers will be installed in humid, moist areas like basements and in these outdoor disconnects. So, sad to say, but Square D has been ripping us off for decades! I fixed my expensive GFCI by drilling out the garbage hollow rivets holding it together, freeing the GFCI trip coil solenoid plunger by removing some rust, and dried out and re shaped the moisture fouled arc chute cardboard linkage mentioned above, then reassembled with stainless screws and brass hex nuts I filed round to fit in the hollow rivet head recesses. Works awesome now! These are a junk product and they got electricians like myself to believe they are good, they are JUNK. Using cardboard as part if the contact mechanism is under handed and dirty. As I said, GE is FAR better!! Now ya know why the Square D QO breakers won’t reset when tripped or turned off, Steve! 👍🏻😋👌
Retire August 30th. People at work teasing me about how the guy replacing me will have to update the tools. Give me a Phillips and Channel locks and let me work mama! Thanks Steven!
This video shows Steve's high experience level. A true tradesman.
Square D used to make High Quality stuff.
Nothing but hot garbage now
Everything moved to China, Nothing but junk now, even new is a crap shoot.
They’re all made in Mexico now.
Still running my r22 hopefully for another 25 years. Skipped 410 and hoping to skip the next refrigerant as well. She has the same unit as me.
Good Golly miss Molly. Love your channel Steve, your a hard working man. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪🙋🇺🇸👍❤️☘️😁
That’s the second or third Square D switch that has failed during one of Steve’s service call videos. Nothin’ but quality. LOL!
It looks like you gave that electrical box a headband. Lol.
With these old units I tell the home owner it’s time to phase one out that(off season) way they don’t get hit with a huge bill although I’m cheap. I’ve been installing mini split condensers heat pumps. Then adding evaporator blower unit. In kitchen I add second wall unit that’s a 5 ton system(I design it for 134% of total condenser output). The wife’s love me for fixing kitchen
Awesome job Steve , others would try to sell her a new unit cost thousands of dollars.
Good work Steve...old rudd for sure on borrow time
A capacitor strap to hold a disconnect. LOVE IT! Lol. Great video. Thanks!
If I recall with Square D circuit breakers if they trip you have to push the bar back a little farther to the off position untill it clicks to reset the breaker, then turn it on. I've had Square D panel for 46 years and never had one go bad. Being exposed to salty conditions, nothing will hold up long for sure,LOL. Thanks for the Vid!
Nothing good about gettin old Steve. Your a godsend for those old folks. I don't know why they don't have a sail switch or vacuum switch on the compressor housing to shut it down if the fan stops before the compressor burns up. Planned work for the new a/c companies I guess. Miss Molly wants to help.
I got the same unit a heat pump version still going 24 years hope it keeps on a few more years.
You are a kind man
Steve you are so nice to people I have a 30 year old Rheem heating and air system from the 80s great video
Another classic good job by Steve. A stand up guy!
Maybe should have replaced fan and compressor caps with a new dual cap. Then mounting would be better and you get them a fresh cap for herm side. Nice job helping out another senior!
Steve didn't even need a tablet for this job. Nice work Steve!
Steve got those old beasts running good for another few seasons.
Thanks for leaving the tablet in the truck Steven.
Great job on those units! They will probably run for a long time more now 😊👍
Ole Murphy’s Law on this job, Stever. “EVERYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG WILL GO WRONG “. She’s a crusty one for sure, mama. Nice job (and patience) on this one.
You just got to love those old t87 thermostats, and look a two pole contactor.
Cap'n'go mamma, and a couple of other things. Good job Steve! 😊
Square D used to be top notch. Love the term nothing but quality here
those breakers are gambles man. every time i see one in the field and i have to use it, i pray to HVAC gods that it will work when I'm done.
50 / 50 chance there done .
Howdy Steve and Miss Molly
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again ya’ll. 👍👍. It’s amazing that those systems last as long as they do.
Steve n Molly to the rescue
Steve is working again!
Good enough for that neighborhood!
You’re the man! 😂
Nice Jethro bodine clamp!😊
Hello Steve!
Congratulations on 200k subscribers
Still going...these AC .have been going longer than most vehicles nowadays...
A couple of piles of ruud, steve
Hvac, plumbing, electrical and diplomat
Thats one of those systems you dont want to breathe too heavy on!
Drill or no drill. What ever floats your boat. They both take the screws out.
Your Truck needs to be an Hardware store, at all times! wow. Now Steve, leave a camp sight the way you found it! Why didn't you put the silicone back on? Only to get mentioned in a future video! Take care... LOL
She's a Crusty One Mama!
Nice work
I’ll accept no Square D slander. Much better than the new junk Eaton and shit. That Square D was there for 40 years probably
When in DOUGHT DOUSH IT OUT that's what Steve says.
good job
Miss the burn barrel!
She could likely use 4 new caps too...might help them another season or two.
She’s a growly one mamma! 😂😂😂
Wow that salt water really does a number to metal stuff she be lucky get another year or so before it rust all the way through
hearing aid batteries come first
That's like what they say with Transmissions for cars; if you didn't do it at 50K miles, don't do it after that, you might
break the transmission with new transmission oil... IDK>...
SquareDoh!
Is that buzz on the second unit the contractor bouncing?
Is that 3in1 oil used on motor?
On its last leg means in the next 5 to 10 years. Lol!
I would have shut the power off.
Why do you where gloves
Needs some 3 in 1 oil
i turn off my hearing aids when you tell me how much the slip is $$ what? what?
those are bullet proof hahaha i swear...
Time for a new unit. Blows my mind people who keep throwing good money at old junk.
Are you getting any of that new 1234YF stuff in the newer units? I know they are using that in cars now.
You will use that drill when your hand starts bothering you.
It maybe working but how efficient is it ?
At least withe the hand tool, you dont strip out the threads.
U r correct they really suck
Crusty old scroll compressor
Rumour has it Steve's got Biden's memory somewhere in that truck .
That truck looks like a poop hole
Steve why you wear gloves, why don't you use a drill to unscrew them screws, why you don't wear a uniforms. Why ain't you shoes steel toes. Hu hu hu ???
06:48 your parts department is cute but not too helpful
Some f@#$% 🤡 😂😂😂
That’s why someone used silicon to glue it to the wall
Mikey Pipes only installs Square D disconnects 😂😂
ok he is brain dead anyway ..breakers are not designed to be outside . they will not last
1st
Like your video but Can’t even watch this with kids around because of your language
Hello Steve!
