- Single Segment speedrun getting all of the A ranks in Sonic Heroes. World Record at time of recording.
Woooo boy. So I've been meaning to do a run like this on the PAL 60hz version, which runs at 120% speed, which is quite useful for this category and Super Hard Mode. Upon mentioning it, Talon and I decided to make it a race instead :)
Only had about a week to prepare and it shows, overconfidence is killer, especially since the run is extra hard with the extra speed. A lot of stages needed redo's and I still don't have proper routes for Dark Extra so all of this and the mistakes considered... yeah sub 8 is possible. Maybe next time :)

Im legitimately here because Game grumps said "Nobody speedruns this!"
and then i found this by searching up Sonic Heroes Speedruns
This game was practically built for speedrunning. Fast movement, tons of glitches and skips, no cutscenes and short level transitions
Some of the worst games ever created have active speedrunning communities. And Sonic Heroes isn't necessarily bad
Watching this is so mesmerising, i could watch all day
That's good, because that's how long it will take to watch it.

20 seconds in and I get to see a cat. I am immediately pleased
I don't know about you guys but I burst out laughing when Big started flying around using his belly slam attack thing in Ocean Palace, I've never seen a speedrun of Team Rose and this just made my day
I cant really explain how much i loved this game and how much nostalgia it is to watch this speedrun

had this playing from time to time over the past few days, thanks so much for uploading. I was maybe expecting a serious vibe from a world record run, but with a category that takes relatively long to complete and does not have too many runs for it, it seems like the vibe is much more chilled out. It felt like a normal, relaxed stream. I think that there were a few mini bits I found amusing or interesting, and replayed a few times.

@@metal3280 when in flight formation, press the action button and either of the formation change buttons on the exact same frame, works on all versions except PC (for some reason PC version only allows 1 button to be pressed per frame)

It's still painful to me that Team Rose is the only team with a tutorial stage.
Team Sonic kind of does but it isn't forced like Rose's is.
Next challenge I can propose: All A ranks LTS. I guess it will take for about 10 hours.

46:25 I think you should have taken the flower and kill a golden robot for 10k. There is also one more 10k robot below but one is enough for A.
That is normally what i'd do, but I was zoning out and my muscle memory took the route I do in the regular speedrun. Tried to improvise to save it, but didn't work
@@CriticalCyd Thank you for the reply, I have another tip which seems useful. In 1:06:02, I would take a team blast for two reasons. First it gives you 2000 combo and time bonus. Moreover, team blast also clears all enemies nearby and ensures that the enemies won't detect you.
@@yoav.a5574 as long as I go fast enough without dyimg I won't need the extra points and just getting the chao is faster, though team blast is certainly a good safety strat
Sonic Heroes I haven't played in a long time. Looking back on it, it was a lot of fun to play. I played the PS2 version of the game which according to many is the worst version of the game. I feel like I should play the Gamecube version to get the best experience of Sonic Heroes.
Im playing the ps2 verison on a emulator and it works as good as the gamecube
I cant even full A rank casually playing (i play for 4/5 yeas only 45 a ranks) imagine speedrunning
maybe a basic question but how do you do the team blast exploit (?). the one where the fly character jumps up and there's like a star around them?
When in speed formation, press both the action button and the y button to switch formation at the exact same time.
This method doesn't work on the PC version though, game can't register 2 button presses at the same time.

How are you able to fill team blast that fast? What is the button combination?
