- 'Fox on the Run' by The Sweet was a song on their 1974 album 'Desolation Boulevard'. In 1975 they then recorded and produced a more pop oriented version as a single. It was the first Sweet single written by the band members. In the singles charts it reached number 5 in the USA, number 2 in the UK, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands and Norway, and number one in Germany and South Africa. It also reached number one Australia where it stayed for 6 weeks and was the best selling single of the year in 1975. In 2016 the song was used in the trailer for the movie 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2' which led to the song reaching number one on the iTunes rock chart. Sadly 3 of the 4 of the famous line up of The Sweet have now passed away, but guitarist Andy Scott has kept the band going, and here they are performing 'Fox On The Run' in 2018. Back in 1968/69 Andy Scott was in a group 'The Elastic Band' with his brother Mike, who comes on stage as a guest for this song. The line up of The Sweet here in 2018 was Andy Scott, Peter Lincoln, Tony O'Hora and Bruce Bisland.
The original band all had serious skills, which made them the success they were. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live only once in the '70s. It's great to see these "new guys" carry on. The music is worth it. Desolation Bullevard was an important album for the time.

The Sweet were originally more towards heavy metal and they were superb if you listen to their
early tracks. Yes, Chapman made them more pop, and worked, but this band was going places.
Brian was a great vocalist, shame his health was always in question.

Fox on the Run and Ballroom Blitz were songs I remember from way back. It's amusing to see they got back together, five or so years back. Are they still together?
The Sweet never really broke up. The famous lead singer Brain Connolly left the band in 1979, and the other 3 members carried on as a 3 piece with bassist Steve Priest on lead vocals, who left the band in 1982, and the 2 remaining members had a change of line up, then in 1992 drummer Mick Tucker left the band and there was another change of line up, making lead guitarist Andy Scott the only member of the famous line up. This video from 2018 isn't of the current line up. Here they are in 2019 with the current line up performing 'Ballroom Blitz':

Are you saying ‘fraud’ because there is only one member from the famous lineup? Sadly the other 3 have now passed away, so if you want to see Sweet songs performed live, this is the best you can get. One member of the famous lineup is better than a tribute band etc.
