And he mentioned he has a website where he posts football statistics about everton - as if employers care about that. And he mentioned he suffers from depression and writes blogs about it for Huffington Post - as if employers care about that. I read the blogs they were terrible, by the way. I did some further research and discovered he has another blog page where he writes the lamest blogs imaginable. He even wrote a blog about his Football Manager game with a screenshot of the league table. Needless to say, he didn't get an interview.

I have seen her do math plenty of times and she absolutely got that she have done way more complicated equations in a heartbeat. Good on her for making the kid feel appreciated but she absolutely knew how to solve it.

Rachel Reilly also uses an ear piece but Susie Dent doesnt, she misses a lot of words.

I done it the above way... I think it’s simpler... once you get the 500 and are looking for the remaining 66 it just a case of your 6 times table. Finding the 11 and the 6 from the remaining numbers is child’s play... as can be seen.

I hadn't gotten it, either. Sometimes you don't see it, especially if you get stuck on certain patterns, such as multiplying by a 7-9, or when you see the last two digits over 50 trying to come down from something like 600.

The only tricky bit is choosing the correct numbers in the first step. 100 + 9 + 5 = 114 10 / 2 = 5 114 x 5 = 570 570 - 4 = 566 The reason why choosing the correct numbers is important should be obvious now. If you make 14 with 10 and 4 then you lose the bit to subtract with at the end.

First time I’ve seen this and I assumed correctly: use any math to get the answer (or closest). My original was 100*5 for 500. Then 10*4 for 540. Then +9+2 for 551. I now see I could’ve done 9*2 for 558

I did 100 x (4+2) - (9x5) + 10 and couldnt get the final one. Overcomplication makes the numbers round very hard
100+10 with a multiplication with 5 is a fine start, you just have to add some corrections:
(100+10/2+9)*5-4
I actually got it the same way Bradley did, but I like the idea you had of getting the approach as close as possible right off the bat.

I was trying to get this and couldn't see it either. The kid's smart move is to do 9-2 =7. Once you've done that, it falls into place. 100 x 5, 7 x 10 and take away the 4

Well you could also add 9+2, and then multiply it with 10-4. That's how I did it.
I remember watching this and being amazed I got it (I did it differently; 5*100, then 9+2 to make 11, then 10-4 to make 6, multiply 11 by 6 to make 66 and add to the 500) and was really confused as to why not only did the adult competitor to not get it, but even Carol. Definitely something fishy about this clip.

There was no way that Carol was telling the truth. I got this in about 15 seconds with a different (and arguably easier) method. 5 x 100 is 500, 9 + 2 is 11, 10 - 4 is 6. 11 x 6 is 66 and add it onto the 500. 566.

The furthest I got to on my own first try was 556 which isn't too bad.
I had 100 x 5 = 500
500 + (9x4) = 536
536 + (10x2) = 556
When I saw the title I figured it would be harder than 5x100, so I ended up going at it a different way:
5 x 10 = 50
50 - 9 = 41
41 + 100 = 141
141 x 4 = 564
564 + 2 = 566
Maths was never my strong point but I think this works out OK :D

but I have another solution:
4^2 = 16
9*10*5 = 450
450 + 100 = 550
550 + 16 = 566
I thought this was quite easy, actually. The only tricky bit is choosing the correct numbers in the first step.
100 + 9 + 5 = 114
10 / 2 = 5
114 x 5 = 570
570 - 4 = 566
The reason why choosing the correct numbers is important should be obvious now. If you make 14 with 10 and 4 then you lose the bit to subtract with at the end.
This came up in my recommendations again and this time I spotted a different solution:
10 x 5 = 50
100 + 50 = 150
150 - 9 = 141
141 x 4 = 564
564 + 2 = 566
Why didn’t it break my solution process up into 3 lines, the way I typed it? Smh

First time I’ve seen this and I assumed correctly: use any math to get the answer (or closest). My original was 100*5 for 500. Then 10*4 for 540. Then +9+2 for 551. I now see I could’ve done 9*2 for 558

I managed to use all numbers. Listen..... 9x5 is 45 then 100 - 45 is 55 then add 2 which is 57 then do 57 x 10 - 4. To give 566
(100+10)*5 =550
4^2 = 16
Together added makes 566, didn't even use the 9
