Great serie of video!!! I'll have two suggestions/questions: - i have thumb pain when going fast but only on the left side. Why? And how to correct it? - could you talk about setting properly far into the throne or more forward?
Hey, thank you for these videos! They help out a lot! I struggle with leaning my neck/head forward while playing and I was wondering if there is a way to help my upper body while playing the drums.
Great info! I’m curious about upper back pain. I’ve been sitting fairly high for several years now. High enough that my thigh isn’t quite parallel to the floor when I play heel up. I notice a lot of upper back pain when I sit too low but still have some at my comfort height. I do teach 6 hours / day 5 days a week and gig on the weekends. Do you have advice on stretching, exercises, or dealing with fatigue in addition to any ergonomic solutions? Would moving drums closer to my body or higher offer some relieve? What potential problems would that bring? Thanks for these videos. Great asset to the community.
I'm wondering if you can help me. Past few weeks I'v suffered what has been diagnosed as possibly cervical decreasing or carpal tunnel damage. Chiropractor say's I have a pronated head position. ( many hours in front of a screen) I've had many years of training with my grip and now have this condition where my neck is tight and I have right arm pain ( pinched nerve). It's decreasing but I need to work on prevention. I've raised my throne but I'm unsure if siting comfortably will aid in improving the upper spine thereby reducing the possible pinched nerve. Thanks so much for any advice!
There’s a lot unpack here and it’s impossible for me to make any suggestion of knowing more medical data. But I would suggest watching my drum set ergonomically videos making sure your kit is in the best position possible for YOUR body. And, without sounding too obvious… Avoid any playing scenarios that causes discomfort during or later.
What if I can’t get comfortable no later what? It always hurts in the middle left of my back. And that’s just with the throne and snare. I can’t get comfortable no matter what it seems
Just found this video, and while my posture is okay, this is very useful information to know...Great job explaining it in such a digestable way!

Luke Haney awesome question! How do you mean help your upper body? Do you mean your leaning posture or another way?
