I felt tight and noticed my dominant hands shoulder was lower than the other. Found this video and it made sense. After a day at work (desk job) focusing on my posture, I was able to pinpoint where my pain was coming from. I was able to lay back over my foam roller, take a deep breath in and release with a deep pop and sense of relief! My pain was instantly gone and my shoulders are even! Amazing!
I can tell you that I did these exercises and became aware of my posture by tucking my pelvis, lifting my shoulders and dropping them into the pockets throughout the day and within two days my shoulder blades are now even. Your daily posture is definitely the clue.

I did these exercises for a couple of weeks and I feel so much better. Also my shoulder doesn’t droop anymore and looks almost normal. Thank you so much.

Both my husband and I noticed this morning that my shoulders already appear even! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for providing such valuable information.

Big thank you for this video and I hope and pray it will help me alot in fixing it

You should start with your mom dominant side and then do the same amount with your dominant. That way your dominant doesn't do more than your non dominant can.
What helps me it’s I don’t use bars in the gym I only use dumbbells so I can work my shoulders individually and that way I train separately, It really helps me 👍

My right shoulder is about 4 inches lower than my left. I have also had 4 surgeries on it and one on the left. I have did hundreds of therapy and it is what it is.
This helped already... I was down 3 or more inches and 15lb weight with a few shoulder tucks brought me up 2+ inches. My sister is a massage therapist and she checked my scapula too. Good stuff here thank you!
I have had shoulder pain leading to chronic headaches for years somebody the other day identified my right hand side shoulder is lower and I am hoping if I do the right thing I can reverse this and be out of debilitating pain.

Now I understand a little better why they aren't level. I will definitely try your computer mouse tips since my shoulder tends to rise up during this activity.

My advice is to do what these guys say. I recently watched the newest shoulder impingement therapy that they demonstrated, and my shoulder is already about a billion times better since adopting those strategies. which, by the way, are pretty easy.
@Valiant Maverick Good answer, but I'd like to add some more info to it. It's not just your back muscles that don't pull your shoulder back enough, it also may be you chest muscles that are too tight and are therefore pulling your shoulder forward. If you reach for the mouse, not only will your back muscles stretch but your chest muscles will tighten. So in addition to strengthening your back muscles, you need to stretch/loosen your chest muscles. And yeah, scoliosis can be a factor too. You can fix it as an adult as long as it's not genetic, but caused by muscle imbalances.
no, strengthening your back and arm muscles will only do you good. however, you might feel as if theyre uneven when youre exercising. like for me i always feel biceps more on the right because thats the one thats higher

I always wondered why my right shoulder has more muscle even tho i'm left -handed. I already have my entire life to fix and now i need to go chase this stuff. goddammit!
My dominant shoulder is my right. It is about 1-1.5 inches above my left. It’s bad and I struggle with knowing that I have it. I try to have good posture but it doesn’t help. I may have minor scoliosis. Is there any hope for me to fix this or is it going to always be there?
What if you have a grade 2 ac joint separation a while ago. You notice your dominant shoulder now is lower with dull pain/discomfort (not on movement tho)
Thanks, guys! Learning the causes for the dominant and non-dominant shoulder issues was enlighteninf! Now I know which stretches I should be doing the most :)
It is physically impossible to be at your desk holding your mouse at a 45 degree angle.if you have armrests they need to be below the table meaning your arms will be at an acute angle. If I raise the arms to level with the mouse pad the arm rests get in the way making me have to reach forward. If I remove the arm rests my arms hang by my sides making it impossible to hold a 45 degree angle as it is obtuse at that point. I have never seen a computer desk setup that allows me to sit with correct posture, it would require very specific office equipment that I nor many others can afford.
What if they're both raised? Does the same apply? My shoulders are raised and painful when I wake up in the morning. And generally also when you look at my posture, shoulders are high up unless I actively and consciously pull them down (and can hold it for couple of minutes only) :(

Hello, I just love you guys! I'm a massage therapist and refer clients to your channel all the time. After a trip to Disney, too many rollercoasters, a heavy shoulder bag, and a 20 hr drive, my dominant shoulder is in a lot of pain. It's lowered and in certain positions, with head rotated to affected shoulder, feels like a couple ribs and clavicle are pressing on brachial plexus. Nerve symptoms never make it down the arm, whew. Are there any more videos or specific strengthening you can recommend? So very appreciative!
I developed a severe shoulder imbalance due to working out heavy for several days, unaware that I had separated the left shoulder. Eventually the left side started to stiffen up and become painful. I laid off for a few weeks, and when I went to start workout out again, my strength had tanked, and the muscles were no longer firing evenly in my upper body. When I'd do lat pulldowns, the left side contracted way harder, and when I'd bench press, the right side would contract harder. I had no idea how to fix the imbalance so I just kept lifting, and eventually I injured the right side, which was overcompensating for the weak left side. I have dealt with this for almost 5 years, and I have now discovered that the key to fixing my imbalance issues is to do very high volume lat pulldowns (all rep ranges, including working up to a 1 rep max each session), while initiating the movement with the right side, and keeping heavy tension on the right side throughout the entire range of motion. For whatever reason, the left side got forced back and down, and healed that way, and the right side is forward and up. Keeping the right side loaded from beginning to end of each rep keeps it pinned back. I do everything in front of a mirror to watch form. My balance issues are improving, but it will probably be a long time until I am 100%. Unilateral moves are a good idea - stuff like 1 arm lateral raises, but when one side is contracting way harder like in my case, you have to include compound moves where the weak side is forced to work harder.
@@dannygee5789 depends on what kind of issues you're dealing with. I had an extreme imbalance in my shoulders. Couldn't really give you advice without seeing what's going on.
I am left handed. My left shoulder has been lower than my right for decades. I broke my left collar bone in a motorcycle accident in the early 1980s. Could that be the reason for my shoulder imbalance issue? If so, are there any exercises, or therapy equipment (I.e., a theracane) that I could still employ use correct my problem? Or, is it too late for me (I am now 65).
Bob and Brad, I noticed that a lot of people have this problem shown on 4:08 I have this problem too! I'm an artist (drawing) and last year I started to have impingment in my brachial plexus because my back and shoulder muscles couldn't hold my collarbone anymore and it starts pressing my nerves. I'm working out 4 times a week and my shoulder is less uneven, but my collarbone continues to be misaligned. Could you guys do a video about this? Putting excercises to help people heal of this condition? I would be so grateful! Best wishes for you guys, you are the best fisio on internet!!!
PLEASE HELP, I'm desperate here. I have this exact problem, where my right shoulder is lower than my left. I am right hand dominant. Does this mean that my right shoulder is too low, or that my left shoulder is too high? I have been doing the stretch where you pull your neck to the side that you show in this video for over 6 months, every day, and I see no difference. I am so frustrated. I always thought that my left shoulder was elevated. But perhaps my left is normal, and my right is too low. Would the 2nd exercise you show in this video with the band help? I haven't tried that.... Also, as a side question; I sleep on my left side sometimes, which is what led me to think that my left shoulder was raised. Does sleeping on your side cause raised shoulders?
I have the same problem I sleep on one side most of the night. Due to know if that's what's causing the uneven shoulders? Should we switch sides? Or sleep on your back
Can a lower shoulder be the cause of disks in neck being pulled out of place? I have protrusions at C5 C6 and C6 C7 with C6 nerve being pressed on. I have pain down right arm. Thanks

@Valiant Maverick mine right shoulder is lower too have you found any exercises for it please let me know
@Valiant Maverick Good answer, but I'd like to add some more info to it.

It is physically impossible to be at your desk holding your mouse at a 45 degree angle.if you have armrests they need to be below the table meaning your arms will be at an acute angle.
Unilateral moves are a good idea - stuff like 1 arm lateral raises, but when one side is contracting way harder like in my case, you have to include compound moves where the weak side is forced to work harder.
bro so I should use my weak side more ?
@@dannygee5789 depends on what kind of issues you're dealing with. I had an extreme imbalance in my shoulders. Couldn't really give you advice without seeing what's going on.
I am left handed. My left shoulder has been lower than my right for decades. I broke my left collar bone in a motorcycle accident in the early 1980s. Could that be the reason for my shoulder imbalance issue? If so, are there any exercises, or therapy equipment (I.e., a theracane) that I could still employ use correct my problem? Or, is it too late for me (I am now 65).
can cast holding the shoulder fixed with arm parallel to ground also cause shoulder to fall like with the computer mouse posture?
Bob and Brad, I noticed that a lot of people have this problem shown on 4:08
I have this problem too!
Thanks
Sir, I have high and low shoulders, unstable shoulder joints, bouncing, and eversion of shoulder blades. How can I recover from exercise?
